Thanks for this helpful video. I'm changing/ filtering my oil the first time 'all by myself'. My demister filter was in so tight it twisted a penny. I had to use a quarter and a penny back to back held by locking pliers to make it budge.
Eric, Thank you ! I too have noticed that some fruits won’t get completely dry as well. I’ll call Harvest Right to get the software update as well. I change the oil every 15 - 18 cycles. I’ve changed the oil twice so far and I’m currently on my 35th freeze drying. Today I’m doing banana chips. Before freeze drying Okra, I put whole Okra in a Ziplock bag with olive oil, then drain off the olive oil, place it flat on a cookie sheet/tray and lightly add Garlic Salt. Then it’s ready to freeze dry. I was having trouble with mixed fruit, so I put everything into the blender and hit purée. I then freeze dried everything. Once it was finished, I crushed everything into powder so that we can enjoy Smoothies anytime. When I buy Mango chunks, I cut the chunks in half and they take less time to freeze dry. I also bought 2 Big jars of bread and butter sliced pickles and freeze dried them. They make for a good snack. I grew some Big beautiful Heirloom tomatoes this year and sliced them. They’re Yummy. We also grow Walla Walla Sweet onions, ( their sweeter than a TX Sweet onion. I have 2 patches of onions. Each year I harvest a patch that I let go through a winter. They get bigger and sweeter after going through our cold snowy winter months. I didn’t do well with my turnips this year. The greens were fabulous but the turnips themselves didn’t do well. As far as the oil changes go, I’ll only reuse the oil once, so I get 2 uses and then I discard the used oil. The cheapest place that we’ve found the oil is on Amazon. Our Freeze Dryer is a small one and it’s a bit too small so we’re saving up for a medium or a large, but they’re Spendy. Next year we’re having a 12X24 foot garage built for our pickup. This way we’ll have more room for storage. Our over sized attached garage is 26X30 and we have everything in it. The detached garage next year we will be able to store all of our gardening and automotive stuff in , so that’ll free up more space in our attached garage for food. We also have a 8X 15 “fruit room” that stays cool year round, but that’s where we store canned food, toilet paper, paper towels etc as it’s between the apartment and the attached garage. The detached garage will be Barn style so it’ll have an attic space for storage as well. Be Blessed my Brother !
@@ByDesign333 I’m Hypoglycemic, ie; I have to worry about my blood sugar levels getting too low. I always have honey packets with me at all times so when my sugars crash, I’ve got the honey to help me get them up.
I love me Freeze dryer. I done strawberries, apples and candy, but my main use is to make my own MRE’s and freeze dry raw hamburgers & chicken breast. Each MRE meal cost me about $2 -$3, not $12 or more that companies are selling their’s for. Plus I know what’s in each meal. Best thing I ever brought. I freeze dry all my meals for 40 hours plus. That’s just me to make sure everything is dry. Plus I do the weight check too.
We have a new Freeze dry. Running the first batch. The oil Guage is different from one shown in this video. The dryer has been running for 4hours; the oil Guage seats at the middle. Between max and min. Question: How many batches and hours will this first use take until a new oil fill or change?
It depends on your pump. Mine says it can take between 20 to 30 until the first oil change. I changed mine at 30 and it still looked pretty good. You will have to monitor yours and look at the specific instructions that it came with.
harvest right has not sold the Premier Pump’s oil mist filter for the last 2 to 3 years. i have been trying to buy one, i contacted customer service they called and was supposed to send me a replacement with the other order i purchased still no filter replacement. they do not sell them anymore, so where can i purchase one they will not recommend!! frustrating.
Did you manage it? It's a bit tricky. Review 5:30-5:48. If squeezing one pair of ribs doesn't work, try the opposite pair and use a gentle rocking motion while lifting upwards. ❤
Hi! I was wondering if you could PLEASE tell me where you got that table to place the freeze dryer on. I build a house with the cabinets custom for the freeze dryer and now I'm not sure if it is going to be too noisy in kitchen beside livingroom and is the space needs more air to run? Ty!
Thanks so much!! I'm getting ready to change my oil, and having a visual really helped!
Blessings ❤
You're welcome. Hope all is well.

Cool. Glad we could help.
Once you purchase a gallon of oil, does the new unused oil go bad? Does it have a shelf life?
It doesn’t go bad

The Oil Pump gets really HOT, so I have a small fan blowing on it at all times just to keep it a bit cooler.
They do get hot.

Where do you recommend placing the pump in relationship to the FD?
We have ours on a shelf next to the freeze dryer. It has always worked well there.
I cant get my oil black cap off. Help

It is loud and does need a large space with a lot of air circulation. Here is a link to a table just like the one we bought....amzn.to/45SWjlA
I am interested in more information on solar for our preserving room that is only 10' x 16'.
We have about 50 solar videos here on the channel. Here is the playlist....th-cam.com/play/PLe8gvCbPFkexFmUtg3xRS4sTZQ1Ve-ft1.html
I’m thinking the company should email customers whom have at least registered their products if there’s an update to to download and instal.
That would make sense.
