Hi..Followed several of your videos and found them all very useful. However when I finally created buttons and tested the animated text that i made, I had an issue in the test movie that persisted on several trials. The interactivity went well as desired but i had to keep the cursor pressed if the movie had to play. Just clicking the text did not play the movie that was embedded in the 'down' frame of the button. The 'over' action went right. Text changed colour as the mouse hovered over it. But the down button where i inserted the movie/animation just did not work with a click. It just jumped or played a few frames with a click. The animation played till the end only if i kept the mouse pressed. Pls.help
So what do you do when you made the button and followed along and "Enable Simple Buttons" isn't accessible??
Edit: I figured it out, I wasn't in actionscript mode.
Curious.... do you know how to create a button that simply toggles on and off another graphic. Trying to find a tutorial on this. As I am designing a simple configurator. Where by clicking on a button the corresponding image appears on the stage.
Kenneth Shinabery You can do that by making the object you want to show/hide a graphic or movie clip symbol. Then use the code snippets panel to add the script to show and hide the object. It should be in the Actions section in the Code Snippets panel. When you add the code snippet it will have instructions in the comments you can follow. Hope that helps. Let me know! :)

Kenneth, I am sorry it took so long to make a tutorial video that might help - but I finally finished it. I hope it helps you with your project. th-cam.com/video/z_aDPyJOiOQ/w-d-xo.html - If you want one button that toggles an object on and off, you will have to tweak this script and experiment with it. There are more complicated ways of doing this - but that is something you will have to research on ActionScript help sites. i can´t "enable simple button" the option appears light gray
I would guess that something went wrong when you created your button then. I would either try to create a new, fresh button in your document to see if it will work, or create a whole new document and try to create a button there. Doing that will help with process of elimination in figuring out what the problem is.
Thank you for the reply appriciate it enormously. I was able to create the buttom whit out clicking on the "enable simple button" and did a succesful publish. BUT it oly worde on Firefox. the index.htlm didn function nither on chrome and safari. Would you happen to know why that is? thank you for you for the video ceep up the good work!
The buttons will work if you actually publish the files on a server, and they will work in all browsers. When I have my students create buttons to outside sites and I go to grade I have to ignore the fact that they don't actually take me to the site or I have to put all of the files on my website server to test them actually working. But that is only if the button is going to an outside site. If it is jumping you to another location in the Animate project's timeline or triggering an action in the timeline and THAT type of button doesn't work, then there is a problem. Be really careful with the syntax and spelling in the code - even capital letters matter - so your instance name needs to be exactly the same in the code as it is labeled on the object.
