    Sometimes it's ok if a customer says "I want to think about it", I have told several sales people that, and then gone back to that dealer and bought the very next day. Some people will just simply not buy no matter what on their 1st trip to the dealership. If you "do your job" and do it well, they will come back !

    I love “no combativeness”. I can’t count how many times I’ve tried buying a car only to have the salesmen instantly become combative and make me just walk. I always have this exact objection “let me think about it”. Instead of validating it I get “no you just don’t know the business” and “you’re making a big mistake”. Why on earth would a statement like that make me want to buy a car from you.

    I've been using this technique to sell life insurance instinctively and I can tell you it works. I am #1 in my team for the last year....get em closer to the sale

    Great response, it’s a neutral answer and brings down the customer defenses. I agree if there’s no write up, then the percentage to close decreases exponentially.

      @@bngr_bngr The Salesperson still needs to have some fundamentals of finance/lease to explain that to customer, finance person will sell aftermarket contract, the finance person if needed will explain finance/lease if the salesperson is a complete rookie and new to the automotive industry or isn’t too sure, I see it happen even now. Also the sales person needs to know any special lease rebates or finance rebates or rates especially if they want to have a well better educated conversation, the sales person should know this even though they maybe not know and overall it’s just a good practice, the customer will be impressed that you’re self reliancd

    Car salesman know that less than 5% of the people that walk off the lot will actually come back. So they are highly incentivized to sell you right then and there, in any way possible. Otherwise they have wasted their time.

      I would bet 95% of people come back if you actually offered them the best deal they could find.

      @@Mistachill if we have one that is just riiiiiight there on the hook but still undecided, we will put a dealer tag on the vehicle and let them overnight it. Then they HAVE to come back. Gives them lots of time to “think about it” driving home and back again.

      @@Dhouseh1You can certainly offer that, but personally I'm not going to borrow the vehicle: 1) I'm not leaving my current vehicle at the dealership; 2) I'm not risking having something happen to the vehicle while it's in my possession and having to deal with those issues; 3) I know it's yet another psychological ploy to play on my emotions so why would it agree to something that doesn't benefit me? Again, if the deal you're offering is so great, I'll be back without the games, not because I HAVE to come back.

      @@Mistachill Of course it's a ploy. Car buying is a mix of emotion and a sprinkle of logic. Who in their right mind would drop 50k on a depreciating asset? Car buying is insanity. But it's my job to make people fall in love with it because of X Y Z. Some folks only want bottom dollar price. I counter with what our dealership has to offer and why we price our cars a certain way. Wouldn't want to go cheap on a car for your daughter or something, right? And yes the vehicle DOES benefit you. That's why you and the salesperson spent an hour with it going over how and why it benefits you and your family.

      @@Dhouseh1 Yes, the vehicle benefits me. Taking the car with me while I think about it doesn't benefit me. Paying for overpriced amenities and services doesn't benefit me. What you described above is exactly why car salespeople are among the less trusted individuals along with lawyers and politicians. It is also why there are so many law enacted in the car sales industry to try to protect the consumer (and why the industry constantly invents new scams to rip off consumers). I say this all the time: "facts minus context equals distortion" and the car sales industry has mastered sprinkling out of context logic and facts to make a profit.

    I have been in the car business for several years and this guy would kill it as a sales rep or closer. There's a lot of emotion and phycology that comes in sales that neither the buyers or most salespeople understand. This guy is a closer!

    I love this. Only issue is, at least at my dealership, they insist on getting an opportunity set up in the system so they can pencil the deal, that means, typing all the info in, running credit, waiting for sls mgr to pencil the deal and come present it. More like 30 minutes.
    Perhaps my circumstance is unique, but I would therefore say,
    "Of course, I completely understand. I haven't given you enough information not to think about it! We know you like the car, so in order to make your best decision, you need the full picture. If you left here today matching the car you like with the payment you like, your decision would be easy, wouldn't it?"
    (Yes). "Great, so let's take a few moments to get you on your way armed with everything you need to make your best decision."
    (No). "May I ask, how would choosing this car make the most sense for you?"

    Well, I would comment and say good job. I am not sure why so many people want to decry sales people, well usually because its intimidating. However avoiding the customer saying something they can't retract is good sales advice, probably good relationship advice too.

    3:00 When you said that after you give them the proposal with all the numbers on it hopefully they can't say no to.
    But they had already stated that they wanted to compare with others and you pretty much are dismissing that.

    1. This line is more of a possible soft rejection
    2. The best way to handle possible rejection is getting more information from a customer
    3. When communication skills don’t work, public speaking skills come in play

    Andy what do you do when you give your best shot and still don't make the sale? I understand you can't get every sale, but when you are super confident about something and it doesn't work out, people seem to think less of you, that you can't close a door, it's 100% the salesmans fault, etc. It easy to get discouraged and second guess yourself which in turn leads to more negative results. Thank you for what you do. In the short time I have followed your channel I feel more confident with speaking to others and I don't feel as lost as I have in the past.

    Can you do a video on cold calling aswell, many of them just say I’ll think about it, or what will you offer for my trade; if I can’t get it over the phone I won’t consider buying any new vehicle.

      +Mopar Marc You can't ask for the sale unless you earned the right to do so. And that is when you do a good presentation on the vehicle and after a test drive. Only then do you have the right to ask for a sale.

      +Matt Eckhardt so you are saying you ask for the sale on the lot after the demo and before going inside, or do you ask for the sale after you get inside the building while sitting at the desk? If you do ask for the sale on the lot after the demo while still on the lot, what if they say -- We will not own the car today, we just want a price, then what? Do you still write them up and give them a price or tell them to come back when they are ready to buy?

      +Mopar Think about this quote " negotiate in your seat, never on your feet" It's real simple, after the test drive if the person likes the car I will ask them " if the figures are agreeable would this be a car that you would be happy to have and buy today?" Or like you mentioned "if I can get the figures to your satisfaction would you take the car home today ?" ( same thing, but only ask a trail close like that after you earned it by doing a good presentation and test drive) If they say yes I bring them to my desk and try to work out some numbers where every one is happy. If the person says no, that they didn't like the car, then I thank them for coming to my dealership.

      +Matt Eckhardt I understand if the customer does not like the car you would have to either change cars or thank them for coming to the dealership. The question I have is if you ask them on the lot after the demo "Will you own this car if the figures are agreeable"? Then the customer says "We like the car but we just want to get your best price and we are going shopping, and if you're price is the lowest we will be back" Then what do you do?

      +Mopar Marc Great question. I would be bring them back to the showroom, and say something like " I understand that money is important to you and you want to save as much as you can, right ? Customer: yes. If I told you the price was the lowest you will be able to get anywhere, you would be skeptical right ? Customer: yes. If you were confident that this was the perfect vehicle and the price was close to what you wanted, is it safe to say that you would stop shopping and take delivery of the car ? yes.
      We are at $23,500 plus taxes and fees. Let's say you went to another dealership and they reduced to the price down to $22,999, would you buy or keeping shopping ? Customer: keep shopping. Me too, I want the most for my money as well, suppose you went to another dealership and they offered $22,499? Would you buy or keep shopping ? Keep shopping. Alright what if you went to three more dealerships, spent two or more hours in each one and got the price down to $22,000, would you buy or keep shopping ? Customer: I would get the car ! Great to hear. I tell my manager you are willing to do business today and buy the car today for $22,000. If you don't get them to commit right there and then in your showroom Marc, you are most likely never going to see them again or have them return any of your phone calls. "Close them or lose them." If they still walk out, you did the best you could and chances are they were probably lying to you the entire time about actually getting a car.

    This is excellent, but you need to keep in mind that sales desks now days are SLOW!!! All the wrong people are managers. If I could get numbers in 5 minutes, that would be great. I'm going to wait a MINIMUM of 30 minutes for numbers on a good day. Yes, that's a problem. No, it won't be rectified by upper management. Now what?...

    excellent info. if you can truly understand and implement what this guy said, combined with slightly above verbal skills then you're pretty much unstoppable.. the problem is, it takes a certain type of mindset to "get" what this guy is saying which only 5-10% of the population have. great video nonetheless!!
