Hello! If you are here to comment about what I said on behind-the-scenes content, please read this: We’ve received lots of feedback already, I understand your concern, and I won’t say something like this again. When I said “BTS didn’t start behind-the-scenes videos,” I was attempting to make a joke about BTS not being the ones to start behind-the-scenes content in like, the entire world, in all industries, across all time. I thought it was clear that's not what Suga was claiming to do, so it would be clear that I was joking, but the joke didn't land. I completely recognize that they were pioneers in the way they promote their behind and other content on TH-cam. I just happened to not reiterate that word for word, especially because Hoshi was doing that already on the show. I really am a fan of BTS (watch our “interviewing ARMY" video) and have been following them with my best friends since 2017, and I wish I wasn’t in this position where I have to beg to prove that. Friendship between fandoms is good! And people putting content on the internet cannot always say the exact sentences you want to hear. We accept feedback with open arms, but we do not tolerate name calling. We see every comment. Please think about the very human emotions we may feel deleting comment after comment on this video that we enjoyed making. Thank you.

you guys dont deserve those comments, it was clearly a technically true and non-malicious comment and some fans need to be able to distinguish neutral comments and also criticism from hate. love your channel and appreciate all you do ❤️

About the bangtan bomb thing at 1:15:00 .. bts didn't invent behind the scenes video of course but as far as i am aware they were the fist ones who made it a youtube show (theirs is called Bangtan-Bomb, svt has Inside Seventeen, Stray Kids has SKZ Talker, and so on, everyone has one these days) and started to do it consistently with pretty much every squedule, i think that's what Yoongi means

vixx has been posting their behind-the-scenes content as vixx tv since at least 2012, bangtan bomb is most definitely not the first kpop youtube show

I'm sorry if you received any hate from people over your comments. I too disagree with some of your comments, but I absolutely don't want to come across as hateful. I just want to express my opinion.
Since you have been following kpop since 2008, I feel like you're part of the bubble and that's why you don't have an outsider's perspective of the effect BTS had on kpop. I have long been aware of the existence of kpop, but I was never interested in it until I started listening to BTS's music. I personally know so many people with stories similar to mine. There are even articles written by objective third parties about this phenomenon. When ARMYs say "BTS paved the way", this is what we mean. I don't know if you're aware of BTS's history, but they were the underdogs in the kpop scene back in 2013-2016. Kpop fandoms were united in bullying BTS and excluding ARMYs from kpop circles. When they started gaining popularity overseas, their achievements were constantly downplayed by kpop fans. The achievements that BTS has today might seem astronomical, but it was not always like that. And BTS's international popularity did have a trickle down effect on kpop (which many artists have admitted). So for fans of said artists to deny that BTS paved the way seems petty and reminds me so much of how kpop fans bullied BTS back in the day. I don't want other fandoms to worship BTS, but acknowledging their impact is enough. Denying it is what is triggering the fan wars in the first place. Does acknowledging BTS's impact take away the achievements of other kpop artists? No. So please give BTS their flowers and continue to appreciate your favorite artists. That's all I have to say. (Sorry for writing a mini essay in your comments.)

I've seen many people articulate it but you've put it so well kudos to you!!
And yes BTS did pave the way!
I feel like antis use it more than armies being disguised as us just to create a particular negative image I've come across several one of these and that might also be a reason for fan wars on this topic and people getting "offended ifl

As a K-pop fan I don't get why people get mad when an idol or anyone say that BTS made it easy for them to succeed in the west isn't it a good thing BTS went through hard time to break through all the walls so the other groups can enter that Market and ofc being talented and great is the biggest factor to succeed after and that should never be a problem or controversial if people from the K-pop industry recognise that the fanwars are just bs atp

1:53:46 Yes, so "Stan" came from an Eminem song from 2000 where he raps the first verses from the perspective of a superfan (named Stan) that became obsessive to a scary degree (yes, similar to a sasaeng) -- Really dark storyline, I personally am very used to dark imagery but if you're not probs not the song to listen to/ watch the MV for - really impressive writing/storyline though. The term eventually transformed to mean a fan that is deep in fandom/carefully tracks a celebrity (interviews, releases, etc.). Not restricted to kpop in terms of usage. It CAN be used negatively/in a dismissive way, but within fandom spaces it's usually used to convey depth of investment in an individual or group, specifically as opposed to a casual listener/fan. Side note: it was actually added to the dictionary in the past few years, an interviewer told Eminem who was very surprised that it transformed the way that it did, bc as the writer, he was kinda like....Stan was unhinged???
BUT back on topic, I'm glad Hoshi found someone to talk to about these kinds of concerns and I really hope that as the groups both start going through enlistments they have each other as support systems or at least a place to commiserate about worries. Was laughing out loud at Hoshi stabbing the ice -- He had a MISSION.
Also, anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the situation with Vernon is that he will have to enlist since he has Korean citizenship. The United States allows for multiple nationalities even in cases where you serve for your other country. Korea obviously has a conscription based system. So, Vernon serving would be mandated based on him being a Korean citizen, but that would not impact his US citizenship. Joshua is an American citizen, and he doesn't have dual citizenship w/ Korea so there wouldn't be reason to serve that I can think of.
I hope that you guys continue to do well and keep balance as you grow. I'm sure the bigger and bigger it gets the more it feels formal, like a mandate to perform, a mandate to keep up, to meet expectations that you didn't necessarily mean to set. Know that you are doing well, and at the very least I really respect you both lol. If you need to back up, the funny thing about a subscription is that YT will lmk when you return, and many of us will joyfully wander back to learn and laugh on your timeline. Thanks for the vid!

Actually there is a free exchange and circulation (basically open borders) policy between most of the EU countries + a few others. We call it the Schengen Area. Most of the "popular" touring countries are part of it (France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Austria etc...) so they would only need to go through customs once to get in the EU. After that they could travel and tour freely through the countries.
As a european myself, I think it's just very expensive to tour here and often not worth it for many groups. The US market is bigger and more interested in Kpop (Kpop is growing in Europe but it's still VERY niche apart from the big names like BTS and Blackpink). And as Hoshi mentioned here, they know they only have little time left as a full group so they probably want to promote more as a group before that happens. But since Woozi is producing the songs and needs time in his studio for that, they can't afford to tour for more than half a year if they want to put out an album. I think Pledis though of these 2 things and decided to forego the Europe tour completely and just have more dates in the US instead 🥲

Kpop groups have been coming to Europe for more than a decade also so it's not new to come here (my first kpop concert was in 2013)

about the army, I konw that PLEDIS won't send them all at once, but I kinda hope that they go half/half, so hyung line goes first than dongsaeng line goes after, this way it won't take so long to all 13 to be together and we still get content in the mean time.

Currently watching the video and because you were talking about negagtive comments...Just wanted to leave a more positive one (at least I hope so). I just started to learn about Kpop (First BTS then TXT and finaly Seventeen ). I decided to learn korean cause I love to understand the music I'm listening. I came accross your twitch channel on twitter when I discovered Seventeen. Clearly, I'm loving your reaction and your explanation. Thanks a lot to the both of you. I'm gonna try to catch you live next time.

for the "who paved the way" debate: BTS opened the path and made it easier however, every group still has to get there on their own. BTS made it possible for groups to have opportunity to be in America but it depends on the group and their talents. it's why TXT, New Jeans, fifty fifty, bp and seventeen were able to go to America while other groups stayed in Korea.

    • @MinSugaCheonjae
      @MinSugaCheonjae ปีที่แล้ว +8

I agree! BTS opened the door, but how each group makes use of the opportunity is unique to them. In the end, the ones who were able to attract fans despite the language barrier ended up succeeding.

When I had initially clicked on this video, I didn't realize that this was a primarily Carat-centric channel. As an ARMY myself, I was slightly taken aback by some of your comments, not in a bad way, just surprised because I had boldly assumed that you guys were devoted ARMY content creators. lols 😅😅 That was my bad.
Anyway, watching this from the perspective of a SVT fan is so fascinating! I loved your guys' positive energy that you radiated. It so obvious that you love and support SVT and its members that it just makes me all warm and fuzzy. I do enjoy SVT's music casually, loved watching the guys at the HYBE family picnic variety show with Game Caterers, and have even watched random episodes of their season of "In the Soop". But seeing just how much Hoshi's presence on Suga's show affected you as a CARAT... idk, it just made me so happy for you, seeing you that happy. It's so obvious that seeing the members happy brings you joy, and that just reminds me of why I love Bangtan and being an ARMY; like, I totally get that feeling of deriving your source of joy from seeing someone you love being happy. I totally get it. It makes me feel like ARMY and CARATs can all be in under one big fandom family! :D
Anyhoo... After I recovered from my initial surprise, I actually had waaaaay more fun than I had anticipated. You guys were respectful and fun, and so nice, and insightful! I was so pleased with how much fun this whole stream was. I have always been interested in the Korean language and thought this would be something fun and relaxing to unwind to. Boy, did I get more than I bargained for! You guys are so nice and wholesome and I totally love your style of content. I am super interested in going back and watching your breakdown of Jin's interview. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing content. 😊

Yes, SUGA is short for shooting guard as he used to play basketball. 😄 He was pretty good too. Min Yoongi is his real name. And he goes by Agust D for his solo projects. Agust D is SUGA backwards. D is the first letter of his hometown Daegu. And let me add that SUGA is not good in taking compliments. It’s so cute to see him squirm and scratch the back of his head every time someone gives him a compliment.

A lot of people attribute part of BTS’ success to the way they used social media pre-debut and during debut and so on with how consistent they uploaded bangtan bombs and used twitter. Which is kinda funny now cuz some of the members are total grandpas when it comes to using tiktok and instagram 😂

I don’t understand the toxicity in K-pop either love the groups you love and leave the other groups alone. I just wanted to add that while BTS paved the way for others to get to know K-pop. Groups like SVT earned their spot in the K-pop industry. In the end, I honestly don’t care who paved what first, let’s all get along and enjoy the music that these k-pop artistes or groups are making, and stop with the fan wars.
