  • The NF Journey continues. This is Therapy Session. What a great song. I cannot wait until the next song of this album. The visual of him sitting in chairs across from himself was awesome. The guy that needs help and the guy who gives therapy to his audience all in one scene. Pretty cool. Loved it.

    Lyrics:
Yeah, I gotta say like a month ago
    I was talking to fans
And one of them pulled me aside and said
"We never met but I swear that you know who I am
    I been through a lot
I don't know how to express it to people
Don't think that I can but I got that Mansion CD on rotation
That's real for me Nate, you do not understand"
    It's crazy for me
Kids hit me up, say they slitting they wrists on the daily
This music is more than you think
Don't book me for just entertainment, it's entertaining
Hearing these parents, they telling their kids
My music is violent, you gotta be kidding me
I guess that your definition of violence and mine
Is something that we look at differently
How do you picture me, ah?
Want me to smile, you want me to laugh
You want me to walk in the stage with a smile on my face
When I'm mad and put on a mask, for real though
I mean, what you expect from me?
    I'm tryna do this respectfully
They say that life is a race
I knew my problems'll probably catch up eventually
I do my best to be calm
How you gon' write me and tell me you'd slaughter my family?
That's just a glimpse to the stuff that gets sent to me
These are the parts of my life that'll never see, woo
    I am aware it's aggressive
I am not here for acceptance
I don't know what you expect here
But what you expect when you walk in a therapy session, huh?
    Therapy, therapy session
    Therapy, therapy session
This girl at the show looked me in the face
And told me her life's full of drama
Said that her dad is abusive
Apparently he likes to beat on her mama
    I got so angry inside
I wanted to tell her to give me his number
But what you gon' do with it, right?
You gon' hit him up then he'll start hitting her harder
    That's real
These kids, they come to my shows
    With tears in they eyes
    Imagine someone looking at you
And saying your music's the reason that they are alive
Sometimes, I don't know how to handle it
This type of life isn't glamorous
This ain't an act for the cameras
You see me walk on these stages but have no idea what I'm dealing with after it
I put it all in the open
This is the way that I cope with all my emotion
I'm taking pictures with thousands of people
But honestly, I feel like nobody knows me
I'm trying to deal with depression
I'm trying to deal with the pressure
How you gon' tell me my music does not have a message
When I'm looking out at this crowd full of people I know I affected?
Ah, I got some things in my life, I know I should let 'em go
Let me jot it down, let me take a mental note
I put it all in this microphone, think about that for a minute
What is the point of this song, I'm just venting but what you expect from a therapy session?
    Therapy, therapy session
    Therapy, therapy session
    What you think about me
    That doesn't worry me
I know I handle some things immaturely
I know that I need to grow in maturity
I ain't gon' walk on these stages in front of these people
And act like I live my life perfectly
    That doesn't work for me
Christian is not the definition of what perfect means
I ain't the type to be quiet
I ain't gon' sit here in silence
If I wouldn't say what I say to your face
Then I promise you I wouldn't say it in private
    I am not lying
People go off on my page and I'm trying to quit the replying
    But this is ridiculous
I'm passionate man, I really mean what I'm writing
You want me to keep it a hundred? Okay, I'll keep it a hundred
I see a whole lot of talking on socials
But honestly, I don't see nothing in public
    I kinda love it, yeah
"Why don't you write us some happy raps?
    That would be awesome
All your music is moody and dark, Nate"
    Don't get me started
You wanna know what it's like if you met me in person?
    Listen to my verses
This music is not just for people
Who sit in the pews and pray at the churches
    I won't reject it
I don't expect everyone to respect it
I don't expect you to get my perspective
What you expect from a therapy session?
I mean, I think sometimes people they confuse what I'm doing
I write about life, I write about things that I'm actually dealing with
Something that I'm actually experiencing, this is real for me
Like this is something that personally helps me as well
I'm not confused about who gave me the gift
God gave me the gift and he gave me the ability to do this
And he also gave me this as an outlet
And that's what music is for me
When I feel something, whether it's anger
Um, it's a passion about something, or frustration
Like this is where I go, this is, that's the whole NFrealmusic thing man
This is real for me, I need this, this is a therapy for me

There was a song of his that I listened to multiple times daily when I was was going through the worst depression of my life. I was 14. The song was called “trauma”. It just made me feel understood and it was something I could listen to with my eyes closed and just not think. I’m 16 now and I’m forever grateful that he helped me get through it. These things weren’t talked about back then and now we’re in a generation that so comfortably talks about depression to cope.

He has so many great aongs! I discovered him about 4 months ago and Inwent way back to his very first LP and through each and every album you can see his growth. A lot of his early stuff was more Christian. He has a great catalog!

Been watching quite a few videos from you by now and I love witnessing your take and thoughts on NF's songs, combined with your own stories and experiences. Can't wait for you to continue the journey. Also the two of you make an amazing duo, he might just getting started, but I'd love to be able to see his journey alongside yours.
On another note, I find it admirable for you to get into 'todays' music, despite being an 'old'; your words-not mine; guy! I also feel that not only you and your guests get into music you probably wouldn't have otherwise, but also inspire others to do the same.
Keep going as long as it brings you joy and may forever be that the case! c:

Thank you for such an awesome comment. I appreciate you writing such a thoughtful, well worded comment. Yes, we are old....and we love connecting with you and your music. Music brings us to together where the generational gap separates us on so many levels.

When nf said "i wanna hit him up" he wasnt saying he wanted to hit the person hitting someone up is a way to say call them which is why that line followed the line of wanting to ask for the fathers number, he was saying he wants to tell him to stop but what could he say to the man that wouldnt make him take it out on the daughter and mom. Basically he was expressing his want to do more for this person while knowing he had no way to help beyond relatable music(ps i know im late so apologies if this was already explained but i didnt see it in the top few comments and i figured in the end more comments cant hurt)

It has happened always. It is just bit more acceptable to talk about these issues on these days and I think artists like NF are doing absolutely amazing job with being part of removing that stigma that these issues have around them. I'm in my 40' and he is one of the artist that i really relate on level that I have never found before.

NF really does point out a lot of facts and real things that goes on in life. And I love him for that. His music is something I can really relate to, I may not have been through the same things that he has been through but I went through similar things that he has, although I am not famous but I do get the hate and the death and all the negativity that he has been through and I've been through it as well. So I love that he is a relatable to me

I think the parents who dislike their kids listening to NF must feel convicted by it. Maybe gives them a guilty concience. They feel exposed. They feel anxious that their child identifies with his songs. They feel the elephant that is in the room...and it is uncomfortable.

I don't think at the beginning was him sitting beside himself, it's him and the "kid who slits his wrist on a daily" like he said at the first verse of the song, (the kid with the razor), it's an illustration of what he's talking bout, same at the 2nd verse where he talking about a fan a girl that said to him that her dad beated her mom, you can see the girl and the parents in the video.

    • @halmond9375
      @halmond9375 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I don't think he means the scene where he is with the kid but the one where he is sitting on two different chairs like he would in therapy session. The video is jumping between those two scenes at the beginning though you can see the therapy session part later in the video too.

I am plus size and do cosplay on TikTok for fun, and I have gotten hundreds of comments telling me that I am gross and disgusting and that I should kms. But they won't say those things to you IRL. So him talking about getting death threats hits me. The internet is a place where you can have a lot of fun, but it can also be toxic and damaging to your mental health. Like you guys and NF said, so many people will hide behind their screens, but they don't have the balls to say it to you in person. His music inspires me and speaks to me which is why I love writing poetry about my life as a therapy.

    • @oldguyreactions
      @oldguyreactions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

That is weird, I heard an interview with NF and he said he admired Eminem and was heavily influenced by him.
I don't think NF hates anyone. He is a nice guy who loves God. Hate is not in his nature.
Eminem could hate NF but I don't know why he would. He is famous in his own right. I Don't think he is jealous at all.
      Just my opinion.

    Great reaction.
There’s an up and coming 22-yr old Filipino independent artist that’s getting a lot of attention. Please react to Ez Mil, Panalo Live on the Wish bus, which currently has 57.5 million views in less than 3 months. One reaction turns into more because he is so talented. He raps in multiple languages, sing sings, dances, makes his own beats, plays piano, guitar, and drums, and directs and edits his own videos. He’s crosses many genres, a true independent artist, and he’s only 22. Please give Ez Mil a shot on your channel.
    Thank you. God Bless
