Just did this on our 2001 125 Merc Salt Water. Figured it was a non-issue since it beeps with motor cold. Turned out to be the oil level alarm instead of the temp sensor. Good video brother
Awesome video. I've got a 90 mercury on a boat I bought last year and have been restoring it. The guy I bought it from had bypassed the oiler because he didn't trust it (I don't either). So there was very little oil in it. I suspected that could be why the alarm was going off. But what I didn't know was the other causes to make it go off. I did what you said and it is the oil sensor. Hopefully I can just fill it up and it'll be good. Thanks a lot.
Ran my 2000 125 Merc 2 quarts low on oil. Going into the shop Saturday. Never has started cold very well but I'm told that's normal. Mostly "driveability issues" like leaning left with Trim Tab maxed out.
Mine was rough for a while after ran out if oil and engines stopped like 3 times before me realizing the problem. It’s improving slowly overtime now I barely notice anything. However I feel my top speed is not as high.
I have the same engine on my trophy, i have an issue is my gave full throttle, it only go below 4000rpm and max 23mph on flat water, also do you know the sparks plug gap measurement? Thanks😊
Did you check the throttle cable? Have some shift it while looking at the pullers on the engine with the top open, then you can see if it’s pulling the pulled arms in the engines all the way.
I appreciate the inf have been going crazy
This video 100% helped me find my problem. Which was the oil float. I never would have been able to trace this without your help, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for leaving a nice comment. I am glad I was able to help.
Great video, not what I needed, but you explained it very simply and to the point and with an actual answer.
Blessings 2 u.
Thank you!!!

Nice video finally someone who makes it simple! Old school
Short and to the point. Great video.
no alarm for lower unit oil. it's just water temp and 2 stroke oil level.
yeah it has a float in it
What kind of adhesive did you use to attach the magnet to the float?
lower unit lube will not will not make horn go off only oil level and over heat

Need your vidéo again
Thank you
Good job on the explanation
Awsome video step by step🎉
Thank you!!
Excellent video. Thanks.
It's great information
Great video bro, thank you
Awesome, TY for the vid.
How full should that oil reservoir be?
There is a oil dipstick. The alarm only triggers when is extremely low.
Found the problem, the magnet that is attached to the float came off. I guess the adhesive must've been worned out by the oil.
SAME PROBLEM: Can I check if it is the sensor or the oil pump???
If you have oil in the reservoir and the sensor is still going off then it’s probably the sensor.
So did you make a video on what you did with the oil reservoir?
Yeah I did but I need to edit it.

BP8H-N-10 gap 1.0mm, or 0.040 inch
