Gear Review: New Royal Enfield Riding Jackets + Levis x RE Apparel | autoX

The iconic Indian motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has been on a mission to take over the world. They have been doing extremely well selling their motorcycles in India, and ever since the launch of the Himalayan they hit the global stage big time. The subsequent launch of the 650 Twins further bumped up their status to real contenders in the global premium motorcycle segment. Along with their motorcycles though, RE has managed to create another line of business that is doing very well for them.
While every auto brand has their own line of accessories, clothing and apparel, very few have been able to engage customers other than brand loyalists. Ferrari and Harley-Davidson are the best examples of auto makers that have managed to captivate almost every demographic with their apparel and fashion products. RE is now trying to create this sub-culture of motorcycle gear and fashion in India and they seem to be doing very well. Recently they tied up with Levis, another iconic brand, to create a clothing line for bikers as well as other customers who enjoy that lifestyle. We managed to get some of the products to review and we also were given RE’s latest touring jacket, the Khardungla V2. Here is what we found out in our review of their new riding gear.

I was eagerly awaiting the launch of affordable Riding shirts ( compared to Alpinestars Newman shirts which cost around Rs 12 K ).. Disappointed to know that this Levi’s shirt doesn’t have inserts for protectors - It doesn’t serve much purpose for me..
Pants could have been priced a little lower - around Rs 5K..

I made the mistake of buying a pair of RE riding boots @ Rs. 5000!! By the time I used it over 9 months and 10000km the left toe got damaged. As expected RE said that warranty is over. Recommend everyone not to buy the same and waste your money.
