Hey, is there any chance you could do some tutorial or something about finding a hidden cameras? I travel a lot, and few times I found a hidden camera in the b&b... My main question is, is there any software, or is there any chance to use linux to scan for hidden cams in the hotels and wifi networks? It would be a lot easier, than walking around every corner of a hotel room. Xd Many thanks. I love this channel. Especially talk with OTW. You two got some skills. God bless You and Your family in Jesus name in this 2025 with all the best.
Mechanic here. 12 Years experience. You'd be super surprised how bad the Automotive industry is with privacy. Thank you for bringing this up. The brand that I work for is riddled with buggy "features" that I can't believe made it to production. But at the same time, my customers barely know anything about the mechanical portion of the car, let alone the computerized systems. I agree whole heartedly that security should be a higher priority for manufacturers.
Hi beside the great peoples you brought evey week some are just great teatcher the use u re channel to teache us some very important things about the security and privacy and this lady is one of them, thx David fo all what u re offering
Very nice to see Naomi talking with you! I agree with her, the only thing I might add is that Session is slightly more private than Signal. But it's tougher to convince your friends to switch.
Lot's of insights from this video, thank you! My approach is to have different devices for different tasks, try to selfhost everything, but also pay google services for my work, it is really difficult to be invisible.
In Australia normal security companies have access to phone numbers and location data, protests in Australia are highly suppressed and this software allows them to see groups forming etc
I'm trying to clean up my internet footprint and I recently requested my Everyday Rewards account with Woolworths supermarket be closed and deleted. I haven't used it in about 10 years. They can't deleted it due to current litigation from the Australian government for data retention...
Two points in securing your online presence - keeping your tech stack and estate up to date (understanding what the update brings) and having good enough privacy. Good enough for me is using Tailscale and exiting from one location, especially when travelling. Also a gl.inet router for travel as the local free WiFi is often completely unsecured. One could easily log into routers and IoT devices in smaller hotels and at checkout also wipe the router log clean… or do whatever one wants with it. Graphene OS is good, but the devices you can install it on, are limited. Viable alternative IMHO is Lineage OS that has rather extensive install base. What is interesting in Germany is the popularity of Huawei, Xiaomi and other handsets. Perhaps it’s just good advertising and competitive pricing.
Great information, sadly we are tied to all the services and cant get away with. For instance whatapp, I tried using signal but the problem lies where you dont have others using it. But this video brings in good awareness. Thanks Naomi and Bombal
The real problem is that the massed think that they have nothing to hide or that privacy is dead it makes it super hard on the rest of us to try and live privately because there is so many privacy invasive devices, cars etc. that we have no choice but to use and have very little to no control over. It seems like it's extremely hard today to live without giving away data. We really need for the masses to care!
Thank you for this. This video gives a pretty clear view on potential data exposures that are easy to overlook. I am curious about some medical devises and how protected these are with information. I know that several devices, like insulin pumps, can be messed with by flipper zero / other radio tools. Is there a push for end to end encryption for personal medical devices?
Thank you for the most thorough, honest, intelligently presented and factually correct video I have watched for a long time. With the 434MHz ISM band tyre pressure sensor signals, if you compare the measured temperature to the ambient temperature then you can get a good picture of the cars recent journey history. "I have nothing to hide" - do you know which german in the 1940's said this ?
@@davidbombal I think it is not long because this topic is important. I learn cybersecurity and English language. Your videos videos help me very much. Keep long videos. Thanks for useful information
The sad part about all of this is simple, Privacy is absolutely gone for everyone. When someone like me starts to stand up and blow my whistle Google started to shut me down. But because I wouldn’t play ball on their team they started to shut me up. Now everywhere I go I’m vilified by others, and now whenever I try to educate others on what is going on with all this neat and nifty technology people don’t want to believe me and call me crazy. 1984 is here folks, I really hope you enjoy having your lives monitored and recorded all the time. Your channel is awesome. If people spent more time watching you talk about technology than watching worthless TikTok, videos, or sports we would have a better world..
I am an electrician and it been surprising how many people are swapping back to dumb devices and fully removing them because of issues that have occurred.
2:30 The real issue with requiring proof of age to use social media is that now you've deanonymized people who prefer to remain anonymous. LOTS of free speach implications with an ID law but unsurprising from the Australian regime that gladly put their people into Covid concentration camps.
What about the soft keyboards on mobile devices? And clip boards? I feel e2ee is moot if the messages and data is being stored before it's encrypted. Is there any analysis on this or recommendations?
I'm not saying that a service based in Switzerland or the UK is 100% safe, but if the same service is coming from Russia or China, you can forget about privacy. How in the world can Big Tech in Russia be free or data-safe, when even small urban shops are controlled by someone 😂
Hey David Bombal, Are there any tools or ai websites wherein i can paste the video link and which can summarise all the discussed important points in this video?
1:10:35 Wouldn't Carplay be helpful? As in just like Apple respects your privacy more than Google, despite not being perfect, doesn't the same apply when you connect your devices to Carplay instead of the car's native info systems?
20:37 Whilst Graphene OS is good, I don't want to support it. Mainly because the person who develops it is a pretty toxic person who I don't respect. Personally, I feel much more comfortable using Calyx OS, as the team and community behind it are much more friendlier and it's arguably just as good as Graphene.
I think if anything there should be an age limit like anyone over 60 shouldn’t use the social media. I can bet 14 year olds know more than any 16 year old. I don’t agree with either, but for the sake of the argument being had.
43:29 that is wrong VPNs are never encrypted on the server. they can read everything you do. this is how they work, they dont work otherwise. Naomi is great, but I can't agree with the idea: "Car companies see our data as an extra revenue stream, they don't see privacy as an extra revenue stream. They don't realize I'd pay extra money for a private car, we should tell them." Its like paying a burglar for not breaking into your hose, because he sees your possessions as an "extra revenue". Collection, storage, aggregation and sale of any personally identifiable information should be criminalized except for the very strictly legally defined purpose of performing sales and warranty services. I.e. something like "an item serial #xxxxx belongs to Naomi" should be stored by a seller/ manufacturer/insurance company not a single day longer than the insurance is provided. Collection and storage of any driving data, location data, video footage, audio, especially when linkable to some owner's personal identifier by a seller, an insurer, a manufacturer should be classified as a felony, exchange/selling/accidental or intentional leakage of such data by any commercial entity - as an aggravated felony. No BS of "user safety", "better services", "improving the product" should be taken as an excuse. This should be true for any product. Data aggregators should be outlawed without any conditions and prosecuted as crime facilitators if they re-appear under any guise.
I think it gets a bad wrap incorrectly. If you look at the article that refers to from Rolling Stone and at the code, which is Open Source. There is no reason to worry about using Signal
