Thank you for making this video! I want to learn the koto but English resources for learning it (like restringing the koto) are scarce on the internet. This video was very easy to understand even for a non Japanese speaker like myself. :)
This is a very useful video for me, because I am going to attempt to make a koto, and if I run out of time I will make it into an ichigenkin (in english "one-stringed zither" it seems rare so maybe it is hard to find without the kanji) in the same style as a koto and add more strings as I have time and money. I will probably have to use nylon strings, sadly. what have you used in place of the bycicle rubber before or have you always had it? If you answered my questions I would appreciate it a lot, but the very existence of this video is helpful still.
Thank you for your message and watch my video. I learned "ito-shime" from my shi-shyo(master). He told me that go to bycicle shop and get the rubber, at first. So I use it from the beginning. Some one buy it at a construction shop. ichigenkin is great instrument. Maybe different about how to ito-shime from koto 13 strings. I hope my video help your music life. thank you.

絹糸はどこで購入できますか？お琴屋さんにきいたらもう扱っているところがないと言われ
困っています。黄色の絹糸を探しています。
私は箏屋さんから買って、一番最初はその箏屋さんに締めてもらっています。まだ絹糸は作られていますし、扱っている箏屋さんもいらっしゃいます。関東近辺にお住まいでしたら、ご紹介しますのでDMをください。なお、黄色い絹糸は、私は十七絃用には使っていますが、箏には使っていません。
先生ありがとうございます。絹糸は作られているんですね。。絹糸張ってくださった福山のお琴屋さんやお世話になっていたお琴屋さんに聞いてみたら、上記の回答でしたので。。。困っていました。。福山なら取り扱いがありますよねぇ。。。他のお琴屋さんに聞いてみます。。お琴は亡き母の長磯です。切れた糸を整えてあげたいのです。絹の糸の黄色と白はどのような違いがありますか？
絹糸の色は、今は白が主流ですが、もともとお蚕さんからとれる糸は何も加工しなければ黄色い種類が多かったそうです。
今は、白っぽい糸が取れるお蚕さんが多いそうで、黄色は、あえて、ウコンで染めているのだそうです。防虫効果があるとかないとか、そんなことも聞いたことがあります。
お母様の大切な箏とのこと、ぜひ糸を張ってあげたいですね。
ただ、普段、箏をさわらず、飾っておくということであれば、テトロンをお勧めします。絹糸は、張った瞬間から劣化し始め、何もしなくても、半年後には、一本、また一本と切れ始めます。そうすると箏にとっても可哀そうですので、テトロンを緩めに張っていただくことをお勧めします。
テトロンを張ってくださいと言えば、箏屋さんも来てくれるのではないでしょうか。
お稽古をされていない方の絹糸張りは、箏屋さんがあえて断っている可能性があります。箏屋さんと演奏家の関係も難しいので、やっていらっしゃらない方は余計大変かもしれません。
お母様の箏、ぜひ大切になさってくださいね。むしろ、糸を張らず、たまに油単から出して、からぶきで磨いて空気に触れさせてあげるだけで、喜ぶと思いますよ。生の木ですので、こちらも劣化は必至。少しでも長く、愛でてあげてください。

先生、私本当に何も知らなくて、どうもご丁寧に教えていただきありがとうございます。幼い頃母にお琴を習っていて、母を偲んで先日の中秋の名月に弾きたかったので残念ですが、お月見のお供えの前にお箏を置いて、練習箏で、さくらを母に捧げました。これを機にお琴をちゃんと習って、大事なときに長磯のお箏を弾いてあげたいなって思っています。上手になって演奏する機会が増えたら絹糸を張りたいですね。それまで大事にお手入れして、テトロンも考えてみます😆。色々とアドバイスをいただきありがとうございます。。また新たにお琴屋さん探して相談してみます。そしてよき師匠にも出会いたいです。本当にお忙しい中ありがとうございました。

右手。龍尾に腕が当たるところ。
弦を引っ張る為に、テコの支点となる箇所に布を挟むと良いかも？と思いました。
滑らないようにゴム的なものでもいいかもしれません。どの段階で挟むか悩みますね。今はアザを作らずにしめられるようになりました。
