They’re doing their communications right as well. It’s telling that they are not a huge EA style company. The comms are clear, concise, address the points, and, on occasions, refuse to pander to the noisy player base. They obviously have such a clear strategy, they’re not deviating from it, and with aspects like PvP, are providing a clear ‘no’ as it doesn’t meet their underlying goal of creating a positive online experience.
Im super excited for the future of the game. Once the broken things like armor rating and server connection are fixed this game is going to go places. So much opportunity to keep this game going for a long time with the ever changing tide of war
I liked your analysis! Good video. Regarding the "Thematics and Visual Language" part of the video, I think you're right, but on a technical aspect of your gameplay recordings; it isn't supposed to be that grey and "washed out" I'm afraid. I had the exact same "issue", which was solved by turning HDR off, I was blown away by how vibrant the game actually looks! Turning HDR off also fixed the visual glitch you see in the "War Table" section of your video, the strange static-y effect on the white hexagon icons isn't supposed to be there.
No definitely! On my screen it is extremely vibrant and beautiful looking due to HDR being on for my monitor and in-game but it doesn't seem to come through the recordings sadly. I have been able to fix it for any future recordings by tweaking my OBS colour space settings however after looking into it :)
Things I like: 1. I'm a self-describe cheap bastard. The value I am getting out of this game for it's price is amazing! $40USD as of this writing and I'm having more fun with this game than games I've paid twice the price. 2. Some mayn't like this aspect, but forced team-kill takes this game to an entirely new level. Not only does one have to worry about the environment, giant bug, and Terminator-esque robots ending, one has to also worry about one's teammates. Turret placement and other 'stratums' as the game calls it have to be considered because they will lay waste to one's entire squad if not managed properly. Weapons muzzle discipline is a must. 3. Communication is a key part in a mission's success. This aspect of the game encourages comradery and teamwork. 4. Missions are loud and their are explosions everywhere! at all times--AND I LOVE IT! 5. The developers are completely self-aware and try to ensure you don't take the game's message too seriously. The propaganda broadcasts and banter are hilarious. Helldivers 2: The right game at the right price at the right time. Bravo! Bravo!
I'd like to point out that everything in the game rewards cooperation. You touched on it but as we live in a pvp world where people insist on competing in every aspect possible. To make away with that in both gameplay and community is big. Also, to use a game master to tweak things realtime is not only cool but can keep the game fresh and fun as players will never truly know what they're gonna get. Also bold as a sizable part of the community will likely blame future failures on this one guy instead of regarding it as a part of the story as any good tabletop rpg player would.
Another great detail: Usually players would complain about glitches, bugs and similar stuff ruining the game. But HD2 took those things and made them part of the comedy/ narrative.
I disagree as I've seen a regular amount of complaints including the unreasonably high number of negative steam reviews from an impossible situation. But, I think, closer to your point is how the fact of Friendly fire is not shied away from in this game. You can easily do more deadly damage to your fellow divers than the enemies can. And the physics rag-dolling and other realistic effects sell it completely. They say there needs to be a certain percentage of realism to your fantasy game, so people can feel safe in "known territory" as they begin to move out into unknown territory. The game helps you to constantly be comfortable with being exposed and vulnerable (in survival mode) by providing generous healing, shielding, and stratagem options. Even as a solo player, you don't feel alone in this war.

The music and overall sound design is excellent as well.

I'm most excited for the mechs to be added to live servers. That's gonna be 🔥

@@WarpZeoh that's good to know!
I'm still looking at why HDR causes these issues on my system 😄

holy liberty that fov is to much. It looks almost like using force speed from jedi outcast.

You've missed 2 crucial things IMHO:
1) Movement - just feels great and natural.
2) Mission pacing being dictated by player actions.
if you ever played mgs5, the movement is practically the exact same. which at least to me, is why i love it so much
