This is such a pretty little town. I love the trees changing colors.

Autumn is a special time, the sun is low, the colours of the trees as you say and the first snow on the tops of the hills. Thank you for leaving your comments.

Thank you for a comprehensive video at the end around Pitlochry Dam. I had a "pit"stop of hardly 2 hours while on a 11 day whizz tour in Oct 2018. I made a beeline for the Dam & managed to see most of the surrounds except for the fish ladder. Did wonder about the closure of the viewing area then. Understandable that it has to be upgraded to comply with current safety standards. If an accident were to happen - a barrage of criticism would be levelled as to why it was not upgraded!! ...A case of "Dam(n) if you do, Dam(med) if you don't!!"

Thank you Melb for your comments. It is a great pity the viewing chamber is closed. On a personal level, I believe if the SSE wanted to keep it open they easily can do so. Health and Safety is a very easy excuse used by many these days when they do not want to spend any money to maintain an attraction ass in this case. I suspect someone within SSE decided the viewing chamber looked tired (which it did) and did not fit in with how they wanted to project themselves, especially with the new visitor centre. A great loss in my opinion.

Fantastic video! I have fond memories of Pitlochry from the 1970s when visiting family there. I remember there was a helicopter climbing frame in the park (which was a great space for kids even then), which I was always delighted to be reunited with each summer. I notice from your video that it's no longer there. It probably rusted away years ago, or was deemed too unsafe for modern children (as most things from the 1970s are). I've not been to Pitlochry since performing as a guest soloist with The Atholl Singers and Pitlochry Church Choir in 1992 but I have every intention of returning one day. When I do I will be sure to revisit this video and do the same walk. Many thanks for sharing! All the best, David

I know this comment is 3 years old but just watched the video and delighted that someone else remembers the yellow helicopter!
My sisters and I also made a beeline for it when we arrived for our annual holiday in the 1970s, staying at Milton of Fonab caravan park.
I have a lovely photo of us all sitting in it !
I returned recently on a glorious sunny day and although the helicopter has long flown off, the town was even more beautiful than I remembered.
I've travelled far since then but nothing will ever come close to those precious childhood caravan holidays in Pitlochry ❤
