i'm ready for my strumstick journey
I stopped by your booth selling these at the St Louis art show this past weekend. Was very impressed with the display you had of them. I am kicking myself for not picking one up.

These are a lot of fun to play.
How is this different from a dulcitar patented in 1971 by Homer Ledford? It looks the same. Just curious. Thank you for introducing this remarkable instrument.
I have heard the word ”Dulcitar“ but am unfamiliar with Homer Ledford’s work. The Strumsticks is an intersection of my Backpacker Guitar neck/body design and the musical principle of a diatonic scale and drone tunings, ala dulcimer, bagpipes, sitar, etc. Inspired by the ease of playing of dulcimer to be sure, but unrelated in terms of shape, construction, techniques of playing and type of sound.

Diet Banjo...love it!
For some reason Peter Griffin only thinks of Drumsticks.....mmmmm Strumsticks. Seriously though, I love this... played guitar since I was a kid and recently got a banjo which isn't as easy to switch over to as I thought. This looks more like my speed.
it's similar to the thai pihn guitar.it's tuned the same way.

Look into the Seagull Merlin. Same sort of idea but sounds much better in my opinion.
I love that I can tune down to an open C. Why did you choose to tune it to D?
I chose D as a balance of body size/Scale length, and what keys it would be able to tune up to and down to, at a decent string tension for good sound but easy on the fingers. If It were designed primarily for C it would ideally be about a 2 1/2” longer neck. Also, G and D are the two keys most people default to on guitar, and D is the big key for Celtic tunes. With a “one key at a time” instrument there are inevitable compromises.
@@bobomcnally thank you. I slid my bridge down a bit, and tune between C & D. Now I need to get my chromatic strumstick out of storage.

This is a Turkish music instrument. The name "Kopuz". Where did you get the new one?

It sounds like a dulcimer.
Does it cost? Check out there catalog, many of them are pricy like $150, some are under that for the standard ones. But I think a simple instrument like this should not cost over $100, at least the standard ones. For $150, it just seems to much which is putting me off from buying one right away. Don't get me wrong this instrument is cool and simple, which I love about it!
How about being left handed?
You should hold the strumstick the other way around, strumming with your left hand. (Good strumming is near to impossible with the wrong hand.) Ideally, you should swap the top and down string. Then, your strumstick is a real leftie! :) If you want to follow this lessons, I'm sure you know about the old mirror trick? ;)

Sounds awful; looking for a new instrument. The chromatic dulcimer is impressing me so far. This has a strange sound.
Designer of what? Your by far not old enough to have design the mountain dulcimer.. You need to put your ego in check... That mountain dulcimer stick isn't big enough to sound good..it sounds like a muted string on a ten can 😂🤣
