- Mythique Rumba set the Molière theater on fire celebrating the 1 year anniversary of the inscription of the Congolese Rumba on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. Artists of all generations performed an amazing set of rumba music with a live band of incredible quality!
Exactly one year ago, on 14/12/2021, the Congolese rumba was inscribed on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. The cradle of rumba is, of course, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa) and the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), but some important pages of Congolese rumba were also written in our country. The Congolese group Mythique Rumba Congolaise International (MRCI), Mythique Rumba for short, is celebrating in the heart of Matonge and is inviting some of the most prestigious names in rumba for a first “anniversary concert”. The guests will be revealed on our website as they become available.
Mythique Rumba Congolaise Internationale (MRCI) is an orchestra specialising in Congolese rumba. It is composed of talented performers, some of whom are internationally renowned. The orchestra never ceases to popularise the great classics of this mythical and danceable music that highlights the African scene and continues to conquer the world. It revives the work of such unmistakable artists as Kallé Jeff, Tabu Ley Rochereau, Franco Luambo Makiadi, Nico Kasanda, … Not forgetting those of subsequent generations: the Soki brothers, Nyboma, Pepe Kallé, Wuta Mayi, Papy-Tex and Josky.

Est ce la souffrance qu ont enduré les congolais au cours des décennies pré et post indépendance, mais la rumba congolaise reste quelque chose de sensuel, de vibrant, exprimant les joies et les peines de la vie quotidienne👍👍 Lors de mon récent séjour à sillonner Cuba, plusieurs cubains cubaines m ont interpellé sur le sujet et cela fait l objet de longues discussions. Car à Cuba, la vraie rumba se perd… Alors congolais, congolaises, sauvegardez cette musique…🙏🙏🙏
A l'époque notre musique avait tant de respect , valorisante et éducative , le Zaïre de l' époque du vrai Rumba .

It's just beautiful, for years I have wondered whether it is possible to find a group capable of doing PERFECT cover versions of those great Rhumba classics of the 60s 70s 80s all the way to the 90s, the kind of music which was part and parcel of my adult life, the music which assisted me to be the kind of Rhumba Dj that I am today. Well, I have finally found it. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
I'm waiting for Malage to do one of my favourite song "Regina Regina", i don't know who sung in the original version. Among the numbers they did, the sax in that Josky number is an improvement, that KSK song is a bass and vocal foundation song but that new extended sax part is really improved

J'ai grandi avec toutes les chansons chantées ici. Surtout les chansons Sola de Bella-Belle, Nakeyi Nairobie de Tabu Ley, Bade de Abeti Masikini, Double-double de lui-même Nyboma ont marqué ma jeunesse.
Ah !!! La rumba Congolaise... Plus que jamais la citation messianique" nul n'est prophète chez soi" se démontre concernant la rumba Congolaise et nous les Congolais tellement nous la négligeons et ce sont nos frères et sœurs non RDC qui nous le rappellent en titiyant la jalousie de la Rumba en nous!

Beautiful music from our brothers and sisters from the heart of Africa! The *silken, silvery* *sounds* of the lead guitars are relaxing, even as the feet are driven to dance from that non-stop bass guitar and percussion battery. No wonder that "La Rumba Congolaise" shows up at *wedding receptions, birthday and christening parties,* and any celebration that calls for joyous, festive music! This genre of lively music *can also be heard in churches* throughout Francophone and Lusophone Africa, wherever talented folk musicians gather to worship.
You can hear that festive rumba sound in religious processions in Angola, (for example, *"Ofertorio em Kikongo")* and in the *infectious Protestant gospel praise music of Cote* *D'Ivoire and Rwanda.* Anglophone Africa also pulsates to the polyrhythms of Congolese rumba, where we hear its variants in *Ghanaian and Nigerian "high life" music.* Be warned:
once you start listening,singing and dancing to this music, you MUST learn *French, Kikongo,* *Lingala, Portuguese and Spanish* to sing the texts of all the lovely songs! C'est dommage... qu'aucun grand tube des Bantous de la Capitale, de Pamelo, Youlou Mabiala.... ne soit chanté .... en fin de compte let's enjoy the vibe 🎉
J'ai fait le même constat. J'aurai tellement qu'il y ait des chansons comme Amour de Nombakele, Loufoulakari, Et Dieu créa l'homme et tant d'autres. Espérons que ce n'est qu'une partie rémise.
