"The Descent" is one of the inspirations for "Until Dawn" so that's why the Wendigos look like the creatures. And the trophies you receive are based on movie titles with slight alterations. With that, one of them is called "The Fateful Descent".
Your predictions were pretty close to mine. And yes, Hannah, Beth, and the Stranger's deaths are inevitable. The thing is depending how they let each character live and die, they need to be careful with the dialogue the characters say because it caused some errors in the game. For example, if Matt didn't fall off the cliff and is with Emily when they hear the Wendigo trying to get into the tower, Emily says "He's going to kill ME!" instead of saying "us". Or if you managed to have Ashley, Chris, and Emily stay alive in the lodge while Sam is with Mike. When the two of them find only the Stranger's body hanging, Mike says they see a bunch of bodies. So it does make sense for them to see multiple bodies instead. And finally, when Sam returns to the lodge, she asks the characters to let her in when she already saw their bodies. So if no other characters are alive by the end, she should not be asking to be let in and just be struggling to get the door open. But anyway, let me tell who I think will live and die... - Jess: Her and Matt trying to escape the mines would indeed be a distraction and drag out the movie. Them escaping has no impact on the main plot with the other characters at the lodge. We don't even see them reunite with the characters. So it makes sense for Mike to find Jess missing her jaw before the elevator falls. Sex appeal girls like her in horror movies always die. - Matt: I'm not sure about him just saving himself and letting Emily die. Matt's a good guy and he wouldn't just let anybody die. So I think he would try to save her, but fail. And based on all of his deaths, him being thrown onto the meat hook makes the most sense. Having him fall off the cliff when they encounter the animals wouldn't make the Wendigos as much of a threat. - Emily: She definitely needs to make it back to the lodge to tell the characters that not only say that Matt is probably dead, but also that she saw Beth's head. Her mentioning Beth's head will help Sam realize what really happened with Beth and Hannah by the time she reads Hannah's writing. And while Emily does become a good person by the end, it does seem like she can indeed still die by being shot by Mike because of her being bit. In this version, I think Sam should say how when Ashley was reading the Stranger's journal, they found out about how bites aren't infectious. With that, Mike will feel guilty about killing her. - Chris: He shouldn't die because of Ashley allowing it because of how he tried to kill her earlier. They are good together. Although, I don't know if Chris should try to fire the gun on himself because even though it's a blank, the bang still would've hurt him since he had it against his skin. So maybe the two of them can agree to die together while strapped just like how Chris chose to not shoot either of them. I don't know about Ashley grieving over Chris when she watches him die though because I think he should tell the characters how the Strange told him that the Wendigos can't see if you don't move and fire is their weakness. Then again, it is written in the journal which Ashley and Sam read. Another reason why I think Chris could live is because while the police think the Stranger was the killer, Chris says "He saved my life! And I watched him die!" So Chris would say how the Stranger was innocent in the end and talk about the stuff he and Ashley were put through from Josh. Chris can die similar to how he does in the mines, but slightly different. When he notices that Ashley is gone, he tells Sam that he'll look for her while she goes on to find Mike. Thus, Chris will die on his way back to the lodge after finding Ashley's head. Or Sam and Mike can watch him die when they return to the lodge. - Ashley: It does seem a little ridiculous that she fell for the Wendigo's trick of using Jess' voice after she read in the Stranger's journal how they cam mimic their prey. So either she can be that illusional or she can die at the lodge by being attacked by the Wendigo. But of course, she can still survive to talk about the stuff Josh put them through. - Josh: He definitely needs to become a Wendigo. It makes a great post credit scene. Plus, it is actually canon because in the game "Rush of Blood", it shows when the police found him down there eating the Stranger's head. Plus, it does help keep the door open for a potential sequel. Heck, if this film becomes a success, they could make a film on. "The Quarry". And if that's a success, they could do a crossover between both films with the survivors. Imagine Wendigo Josh battling a werewolf. - Mike: If one guy is to live, he is the #1 option. He is with Sam in the end. Plus, he can tell the police what he saw in the Sanatarium. The suicide note, the pictures of the wendigo transformation, the footage of it happening, the cells, etc. Plus, if Mike loses his two fingers like in the game, he can look at his hand years from now thinking of how he survived. Having a story to tell to people. But they could change how he lost his fingers if it's not caused by the bear trap. But if Mike is to die, it will be by using his lighter to kill the wendigos in the lodge to save Sam. When Sam is the only one to survive the game, she talks about how Mike saved her. - Sam: She is meant to be the final girl. With that, she has to live. She has to be the one to talk to the police about how she found Hannah's writing and what the other stuff she saw in the mines. Even if no one else is to survive, she can provide what she was told from the characters. Plus, Sam at the end tells the police to go to the mines which is what led to them finding Josh. So it's important for her to live. - Wolfie: Yes, I know this isn't that important of a character, but I feel that a lot of fans would be disappointed if he weren't included. He must join Mike throughout the Sanatarium. He should not die. With that, when Sam arrives and helps Mike at the Sanatarium, the movie can do something new by including Sam meeting Wolfie. Giving him a pet and scratch just before Wolfie runs off into the trees.
Excited for ur recap video of this movie cuz I wanna know what happens but I will not be watching it. This game was so good and fun but it gave me nightmares so.
Until dawn is one of my absolute favorite game. My play through I ended up with only Matt and Emily somehow which I was like well I kept one couple alive.
Great idea for a video. Love your choices. Though I personally think they MIGHT go for an all out cast kill. But when I say that I’m specifically talking about killing Sam and Mike in the final cabin scene. I think they’ll either pick Sam’s brutal death and have Mike get out. Or have Sam get out and Mike gets the badass lightbulb scene. I feel like keeping that awesome scene in will be worth it.
Just like you, I got a PS4 because of Until Dawn. I mean, I was also wanting The Quarry, Batman Arkham Knight, and Spider-Man as well, but Until Dawn could only be played on PS4, so that's what helped me make the decision to get a PS4. Markiplier was the first person I ever watched playing the game. And if Ashley dies in the movie, he's going to be even more emotional over it than he was when it happened in the game.
I agree that there's no way that the movie will have multiple endings just like the CLUE movie. As great of a film that is, there's no way they'll do that for modern day.
