    I kept a bottle of sidewinder in a controlled environment at 72 degrees for ten years just to see what would happen. It was exactly he same. I called morgan fuels about it and they said, if you keep it at the same temp consistently, it should last 20 years or more. They also said to keep it off of concrete floors. Makes sense. Anyway, I thought it was interesting.

    Informative video and your right for the most part. There a few things I would like to add to it if you wouldn't mind. In actuality the humidity ( moisture) doesn't pass through the plastic, But rather comes in through the air exchange when you open the container and or a bad positive seal on it over time. About the " oil separation" you spoke of is actually the other way around. Water is heavier than oil and will solidify out at the bottom of the container. Just like an automotive engine with a severe coolant leak into the oil when you pull the plug on the pan you will get the water out first. The thickening of the fuel at sub freezing conditions will be from the caster oil, the synthetic component of the oill package tends to stay fluid at those tempetures as the lower "0w" number of multi viscosity engine oil does. For those fuel and exaust pressure coolers will see no benefit for the most part, the only logical positive use that may be as in a long race where the cooler would try to remove heat that the pressure line, exaust pipe, engine etc. Puts into it to keep the evaporation rate low as possible, not to get more than you would expect from a set amount of fuel but rather to control the loss of it. I typically do not run my rigs in freezing conditions, however one possible issue I have seen happen to other equiptment is the buildup of ice on the outer part of the jet tube causing throttle problems. The very low tempetures combined with the evaporational cooling of the fuel could compound the issues further literally freezing the humidity right out of the air and effectively turning the end of the jet tube into a snow cone. I hope this helps.👊

      I appreciate the input! Yet it's just I've been seeing a lot of people recently and I've got the question several times about putting your fuel in the freezer and all this other racket And for your average guy that's just going out there trying to have fun its absolutely pointless I could understand temperature control but the rest of it that people have come up with lately is just been ridiculous!

    I’ve always hear something about if you leave a bottle of your nitro fuel on the garage floor/concrete that it will ruin the fuel. I don’t know the reasoning behind that claim or why it would but it doesn’t make sense to me in any way. Figured I ask you since you seem to be very knowledgeable. I’ve been in this hobby for quite sometime on and off since I was 6yrs old now 38 and still learning. This stuff never gets old. This is one of those topics that someone like myself can take for granted that everyone already knows about (because of the experience/education). But after watching the vid, it is a perfect topic to bring up. New to the hobby, lesser experienced or even folks that have been in the hobby but, just takes “uncle Neds” unfortunate advice as gospel (because they don’t know any better), need to have proper advice to turn to.
    The only benefit that these “coolers” may have (on the fuel side, not the pressure line side) that Bug didn’t mention, is that they may add fuel capacity to the system. A simple “trick” that we used back in the day (still do at times) is to add additional fuel line and/or more or larger fuel strainers (aka filters) to the system for a little added run time. In big races that have strict rules about tank size and length of fuel line do not/may not allow this addition but for bashing and club races/races that have less rules, would allow you to do this. So, if there is a claim to have longer run times from these “coolers”, it is simply because they may add volume/capacity to the fuel system.
    I hope you don’t mind me adding a little info to the topic Bug. As always, thanks for taking the time to put the content/topic out there. Nice vid💪🏻

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man I completely understand where you're coming from and a lot of the time what people do is they leave the fuel line itself longer that goes to the carbrater that way if you flip it will run for a while so you can get up to it and turn it back on its wheels again. On the exhaust side it doesn't really help much. I am going to buy one of those coolers and a temperature gun and do some comparison videos later on when the weather isn't so bad. Yet as well as make sure the lines and everything are the exact same length as they were before just for shirs and I am going to cool a bit of fuel and do so test runs Against ambient temperature fuel. I did this a few years ago but didn't make a video

    Hey there remember that os max 12cv abn engine that i was asking you about the flaky cylinder well i found out that the guy i bought it off said he had only run two or three tanks through it and he was using model technics 16% which he said has synthetic oil in and a really low amount of caster so i know why the cylinder is patchy. So will the cylinder be a total write off or will i still be able to use it. Its basically a new engine. Them fuel coolers I don’t buy into stuff like that. The only up side to having one is you may get a little increase in tank pressure.
