Thanks for keeping this going for those of us who are still on CS1 by choice or necessity (console). Great to see someone still pushing the vanilla envelope!
Eggusta National. That was my first thought, too. Give it a google, Egg. It is a beautiful golf course, especially in the spring when the tournament is played. The azaleas are magnificent.
Golf police here. You nailed it! A great course has hazards (e.g. bunkers, trees and ponds) around the greens and on the bends, basically near where the ball would land. But I would definitely play on this course. Love this episode!
No golf club police today. Instead, kudos for doing it in vanilla! Seeing people bypass the transit for chopers is one of the funnier things I've seen in awhile. Insane!
Awesome effort. I live on the edge of leeds and there are about 12 golf courses within 2 miles of me. I always wished it was something added by developers as golf courses are significant parts of suburbs. Anyone looking on google earth will see this.
You have such an eye for detail. :) Watching this series on Orchid Bay has changed the way I build. You're approaching Imperateur-levels of creativity.
Really fun episode, can never have too much of Egg giggling at insane helicopters. Agree with others that there should be a clubhouse for peeps to drink their G&Ts in.
Wow that golf course looks really good, a lot more real than I thought after seeing the first hole done! Really enjoyed the helicopter ride too, I'm sure that would make for a nice tour-video across the whole city 😉. If you can find an excuse for them to be there, maybe the nature reserve tents would help draw cim's towards the various holes? And as others mentioned, a club-house would've been nice - like the book-club or so from the campus dlc. Really liking these late-game creative builds you're coming up with in vanilla CS1.
Really cool build!!! I was laughing at all the people at the helicopters, but it was a great view riding along with it. A whole other prospective of how great the city looks!! You did well with the golf course. Is there a building for golf carts or a golf shop? Great job!!!🤩
For a vanilla version of a golf course I'm impressed. Really cool concept in putting this together. I wonder if for the "tee box" if you used one of the decal tiles? Also golf courses usually have some sort of a club house/pro shop-not sure if you have any unique buildings left but something along the lines of the tax office, or even something from the seaside resort pack could work. Really fun episode, the helicopters had me cracking up 😂
Due to the amazing silver birch trees at the entrance, I believe Silver Birch Golf Club would be a good name. I have seen a few clubs named after trees.
Cool. There are a ton of custom/unique builds and amenities in OB now. The 81 tiles has allowed for some stuff you might not usually get around to. The popularity of the helicopters is insane, but the first person view was well worth it. Thumbs up for CUgA and the logo is quite impressive.
Great build as always! I want to suggest to build gated community with luxury villas somewhere near the golf club. As for golf club, you can reduce the number of parking places and add the main building with restaurants, hotel and swimming pool, gym or sauna. For the full experience of luxury life 😊
Been waiting all week to see if you could do this! Great idea to mix park assets with the pathways so they become more functional. Once again, just amazing work.
Helicopters and Blimps are always so hilarious with the draw they recieve from CIMs but I suppose if my city introduced public transit helicopters and Blimps....I'd probably also want to wait in line for it.
for the general sports area, you could include the sauna/communal pool in the health section. The sauna could be a place to rest after playing golf, kinda like a golf club.
I feel like the helicopters have to be used in a specific case instead of looped like a bus line or other transit also usually kept away from super touristy areas like stadiums and transport hubs. Best used as small shuttles. So maybe have one line specifically between the two military bases (For Military functions.) And then another shuttle that hits only the Golf course or Cougar Campus from the regional airport? I’d avoid choppers in the downtown for building safety reasons since they fly a bit low.😅
This episode was very cool! Been dealing with Covid the last few days and your content really helped out. Question? Has anybody ever gave you a dislike? lol
No you can't because I've looked at this, and simply drawing gravel roads around an area does not maketh a golf course. You can just about create a driving range in vanilla, but you can't make greens, because there's no flags, and you can't make bunkers without sand, and even with mods, the landscaping tool isn't sophisticated enough to create anything other than sandpits, if you use a landscaping mod. Golf courses are divided between rough, fairway and greens; you can't do that with only one grass type. However, there are two very good golf course mods on Steam, if your map has the room.
having practically grown up on golf courses, it is so surprising to me watching CPP and now you try to make golf courses and the decisions yall make. Like connecting holes' paths halfway down both their fairways. That seems really really dangerous!
You can also use the tall grass assets to decorate the golf course; I have played a course that had tall grass between the tee and hole (Portland Maine Country Club)
Could I recommend helicopter stops at the airport, as that is usually the destination/pick up for rich executives etc. Also maybe put a pier like they do in New York for the helicopter stops. It’ll be a nice focal point. I’m also 99% sure that the helicopter depots can be used as stops. Which gives you a nice beefier looking asset. Love the build!!!!
I remember watching CPP put a helicopter route into Tutoria (I think) when I first started watching CS1 Vids a few years back. It was just as mental then. I thought perhaps they'd fixed it when you started putting them in, but nooooooo. Proper made me chuckle. Oh, and for the golf course, I'm thinking Mar-egg-lago (or perhaps mar-a-l-egg-o).
Helicopters are so weird in CS. The AI don't seem to take into account the cost of different transport, so everyone just uses helicopters as if they were a bus.
I like the reuse of the water feature from last episode but the water flows over 'grass'. Is it possible the change the grass tecture to something else? Mud? Sand? Anything but grass... Love the helicopter ride through memory lane! Keep up the good work OE! PS: As always, enjoy the rest of your day. :p
To compliment the “Cat Corner” of the map being filled by all the visiting corporate fat cats, perhaps the golf course should be called The Lynx Links Golf Pawse
Well well well. A golf course. Things that were in Sim City 4 are finding there way in City Skylines. I suppose next we will have the Mayors House, then a church a courthouse, there are heaps more to be added just look at Sim City 4 reward buildings. If things get bad I liked the Federal Prison and the Army Base.
The city is doing so well that it is starting to feel dead. Is there a mod you can add to generate more traffic? Can the realistic population mod help bring the city to life? It doesn’t feel like the 100k population is reflecting all the daily tourists and daily influx from people who work outside the city. Love the build and I hope you can fill all 81 tiles with more population and some more traffic.
Yeah nah, I’ve never liked using helicopters as mass transit for that reason. In my current city on The Last Bay map, I have a few islands build up as super-wealthy private pedestrian only islands and the helicopters work well in conjunction with ferries for transit since I have no bridges to them, otherwise I keep them away from big draws like stadiums or pop centres.
I reckon you might have been better delineating the various holes with trees (as is often the case on actual golf courses) and ponds, with the dirt path details as the bunkers and tees, rather than using dirt paths completely around every one. It looks a bit odd. Nice attempt at a course though, that's a big ask in vanilla.
The third pathway into the golf course near the maintenance depot should also be a park entrance. Also you envisioned the helicopters to be executives or athletes taking a quicker route from the airport to their destination - but there is no helicopter stops at either of the two airports lol. So right now the helicopter is only connecting the port terminal to lots of destinations.
one way to reduce those wanting to use helicopters is to make it less useful. It would also be more true to life if rather than operating like a bus line, they operated as a shuttle point to point with two points, maybe the downtown and one of the airports as hubs, and all the other heliports having a direct line to those hubs. Lines that duplicate what can be done by train or monorail shouldn't be created, only those that cut across topography and transport infrastructure. You could then cut the military bases from the general helicopter traffic, and have only a single shuttle between them. Could you use the terrain tool, so that your links are not so flat seeming, maybe a little hill in front of the ninth hole.
P.S. are there any uniques left that can be added around the ninth hole, that could be used to represent a clubhouse and which will act to cims to walk through the park?
I've only once used the helicopters while paying CS1 and there were tons of passengers waiting, despite having other more affective transportation modes available near by. And I'd imagine those cims standing there waiting forever for a trip as a bunch of lame wannabes wasting months just for a ride; probably to take a picture and post it on the gram. LOL, I was too invested in the lives of my cims. It is one of the worst transportation methods after blimps.
The golf course definitely could do with a club house! Every course has a club house and a pro shop of some sort
Good call, maybe something from seaside resorts would work 🤔
Agree was thinking the same. Missing a nice fancy club/country house
Thanks for keeping this going for those of us who are still on CS1 by choice or necessity (console). Great to see someone still pushing the vanilla envelope!
Glad you're enjoying it 😊
Same enjoying the CS1 content just as much if not more than CS2 😎
Oh my god. That helicopter flyover is incredible! The views of the city! The race against the monorail and train! Wow! Love it!
Nice little trip that wasn't it 😊
As a golf fan, I reckon you should call it Egg-usta National Golf Club (named after Augusta National, where they play The Masters)
Eggusta 100%
Came here to say this 👆
So glad I'm not the only goof who thought of this! 😆
Eggusta National. That was my first thought, too. Give it a google, Egg. It is a beautiful golf course, especially in the spring when the tournament is played. The azaleas are magnificent.
Good idea ... or Eggbaston (Edgbaston cricket ground in the UK)
Golf police here. You nailed it! A great course has hazards (e.g. bunkers, trees and ponds) around the greens and on the bends, basically near where the ball would land. But I would definitely play on this course. Love this episode!

8:14 bruh 😂
🍆
18:24 😂😂😂 ...and here we can witness the helicopter mating season. This is how the AI helps young helicopters spawn into existence.
Fun! Often there is a clubhouse-something from seaside resorts might be fitting. The water feature was nice too. 🎉
Awesome effort. I live on the edge of leeds and there are about 12 golf courses within 2 miles of me. I always wished it was something added by developers as golf courses are significant parts of suburbs. Anyone looking on google earth will see this.

@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Oh that's a great idea!! I had thought since you had the one golf building that maybe there was more ☺

You really gotta love vanilla really - It still looks amazing in vanilla Egg
The helicopters were hilarious! 🤣

Imperial Mesa Golf & Country Club - a fancy name, and homage to it's inspiration

the golf course looks gorgeus by night
I refuse to believe that this is Cities Skylines. Great build!
Orchid Bay feels beyond the scope of Vanilla gameplay. Egg is truly a master.
You always bring something different and new. This golf course looks real, amazing job! I dont play golf but id give it a go there.

Love the Cuga-logo!
Is there also a way to increase the ticket price for the helicopters? Might discourage people from stacking up at them?
I think we're gonna rework the line away from the busy spots! I wanted helicopter assets for athletes arriving at stadia but it's too busy 😂

Just go all in and make a country club. Huge clubhouse. Restaurants. Pool. Etc.

Who woulda thought the Great Helicopter Panic could upstage Cuga's Campus Grand Opening: they lost the TEggr Woods Deal!
Love that you still play CS1
Sunnyside Up Golf Course.
I like it, I was in the neighborhood: Egg in the Hole.
How about the name be Orichid Back? It's based off of the real name for a golf course!
So a nice build as always egg . See all the Man U players leaving the game
Wonderful series Mr. Egg ❤
Hey Egg, what are the graphics and lighting settings for Orchard Bay. I can never get my own maps to look the same even on the Bay of Rivers Map.
It's all high settings vanilla mate, no graphics mods are used on orchid bag. Regular temperate theme 👍
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG thanks for replying, what longitude latitude settings etc get used?

Imagine having an Imperatur original build in your city and you deface it to put a helicopter stop in it 🤣
🚁
If you want to keep it in the theme of the animals of OB you could call it Carnivorous Deer Creek Golf Club after Wolf Creek Golf Club in Nevada.
could always call it Mulligan National Golf Club, referencing both the golf term and City Planner Plays
Hey Egg, if possible increase the price of helicopter service so that only the elite eggizens get to use it.

Eggle Beach
St Eggdrews
Eggmont
Royal Dornegg
im pretty sure mid century modern has a low cut crass plopable asset
Great idea 👍💡
In honor of the amazing helicopter pilot who gave us the ride of our life - Balls of Steel Golf Club
why not use the regular water source, instead of the pump?
Cos that comes with extra landscaping tools mod which we are not using in this series 😊
