Your channel popped up on my recommended list. I'm grateful for that! I appreciate your introduction and enjoyed watching this video. I'm looking forward to watching your other videos. Love these adorable primitive hens!!
I saw these in India. When I lived in Canterbury, England, there was a shop that sold ethnic decor, and they had them. So, I guess they have been around me for maybe 30 years or so, and today, you told me what they are! Thank you. I think I should make some now to celebrate them.
@JeriBellini I never thought that I would reach the age when I had all that I need, but I have. I have now got 10 cut out and 4 sewn. I look forward to the eggs!
Hi I’m from 🇯🇵 just retired 65. I found this your first video I’m .watching relaxing and interesting. I think choosing to share your life as a 60 something is helpful and it’s something that you don’t have to search or people will say “no that is not true’ , it’s personal and unique. Subscribing
Jeri and Theresa and Everyone Else HERE! I’m happy, proudly and very gratefully 75+ and also so thankful to have “happened onto” this channel! I too love all things fabric, buttons, bows and both neatly-knitted and even garden rows!😊 Connections are so important for our well being. Yes, my once very wide circle of friends and acquaintances has greatly diminished thru the years from once busy and varied careers. I’ve Subscribed and hope to visit with you often when I’m not focused on my other projects and small family events. I look forward to adding my own creation of these little “Prosperity Hens!” My sweet daughter and her lovely family (hubby & 4 young boys) have a flock of chickens and they have been blessed with the prosperity of deep rich family love and values.💕 They will get the first set and I’ll likely make more for others.😌 Happy Day To All
Oh this warms my heart, big time! I'm so happy that you found me and this community is AMAZING and fills my heart with joy every day. Don't know how I got along without them! Hugs, 💛💛💛
This is great! Thanks for your calm and home-y sounding video. I'm going to make 2 sets...one for a friend...actually, maybe 3 because I have at least 2 friends who would appreciate them. I have not finished watching yet and have not read all the comments, but I had a suggestion: you could trace your template on freezer paper, cut it out roughly and iron onto wool or felt. Then just cut on the line with sharp craft scissors (not your best scissors, LOL). Thanks again and they are a great reminder to be grateful, I agree.
That's a GREAT idea! I love using freezer paper! Thanks for posting it in the comments, someone else mentioned gluing sandpaper to the paper template too. I love when we all share our ideas! 💛
Can’t wait to get started on some prosperity hens! I’m thinking that it would help to glue the template to a piece of sandpaper to keep it from sliding around while cutting. And…since I’m a quilter, there just might be some cotton hens hanging in my kitchen window! This is going to be fun!! Thanks for the tutorial - I hope for a happy and prosperous new year for all!
Good morning on this cold Saturday morning. I am also 69 yrs old and I'm retired but work 16 hrs/week at a lovely Salt Spa. I have never been one to have friends to hang out with but I feel like that is what we are doing. Just 2 friends hanging out. I look forward to each and every video that comes out and if I need to hang out with you between I just go back and watch older ones. So....stay warm, stay safe my friend. And know that YOU are one of the things in my life that I am Grateful for.
I can't wait until my supplies get here to make my chickens! Yours are so darn cute! Thanks, Jeri for another fun project. You are such a blessing. 💛💛💛
‘And call it macaroni’! 67 year old here and I get that. ;) The prosperity hens are very interesting. I am not superstitious either but find them SO cute. That you for connecting. That’s one thing I find concerning about being older, people just don’t connect, our circle gets so small. Thank you for this great idea and your great instructions.
I bought one (made in India) years ago at The Christmas Tree Shops, (marked down to $1.50 !). When I look at it I marvel at all the detail work, the cutting, stitching, stuffing, beaded eyes, tasseled yarn tail and cocks comb and mimi pompoms (instead of yo-yos) all strung together ! I've started adding a drop of lavender scented oil once in a while. I never knew the name or purpose, thanks for the info.😊
Love the little hens, I'm inspired to make a couple to fit on my advent garland. This is made of wool /blanket/ squares with embroidered numbers and little objects. Already I have knitted a Xmas tree, knitted a black cat, bells, owl, lamb, and made patchwork balls, and used scraps of Xmas fabric to make ornaments shaped like stars and hearts.
They are 3 inches wide and about 2 inches tall. You can make them any size you like you just have to adjust the size of the dangle things in between the hens for balance. 💛
Hi Jeri, greetings from OZ 🇦🇺😎😍 These prosperity hens are definitely on my list of things to make this year xx Love them xx TFS XX Love & hugs from a 72 yr old stitcher 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Hi Barb, thanks so much, I hope you make a set! People will be stitching Prosperity Hens across the world! How exciting! They would make a cute garland or ornament too! 💛💛💛
I was given a looong string of these, they were smaller and rounder hens with beads for beaks. I had no idea what it was until now! Thank you for sharing this, your channel seems to be exactly what I like 👍
We are the same age and these fit with the folk art themes I loved in the 80s. Great design tyfs edit...just placed an order through your shop, looking forward to starting a sewing project again.
Looking forward to making my very own prosperity hens. I have two in my house that came from India hanging on the doors that the pup rings when she wants to go out. My kit is in transit and a little delay due to all the weather. Thank you Jeri for this wonderful tutorial and providing the kit❣️
Oh that's so clever of your pup to ring the bell to go out! Brian went to the PO for the second time with more kits, hopefully, you will get yours early this week. And thank you so much for your support! 💛 💛 💛
I just love these. 🥰. Like you, I see them as gratitude hens. Abundant life!!! My kit will arrive soon (I don’t have wool scraps ) and I’ll have fun putting together. Thanks, Jeri. 💖💖💖
You mentioned in your video that you wanted to create a community of friends. After reading so many of these lovely comments, I would say mission accomplished! Thank you for shining such a positive light with your visits. It’s obvious you mean as much to this community as we do to you! What a fun “grateful for our abundance” project! We can all use a visual reminder from time to time. Happy 2025 to you Jeri & Brian!
Love these! They're fairly common here in the UK, especially in ethnic shops/ hippy shops etc, and I've got a couple of them dotted around my house ❤ I'm delighted to have a go at making some myself x

Hi Donna, it's made from a round piece of cloth, gathered around the edges, and pulled in. You can see them in the strand of hens, in between the beads.
Didn't get through your introduction before an add came through. I know youtube is to make money, might want to adjust that. Turned me off before I got to know you.
I'm so sorry. I know they put in a lot of ads. I don't add more than what they already do. I would have to look into how to adjust where they go and I never know how long my intro is going to be. This time I wanted to explain about the hens so it was longer. I hope you hung around long enough to check out the video, this is a wonderful community of older people here and if you are creative and older you might enjoy us. 💛
Watched till the end: yes! Adorable! Good taste, good work, good purpose (the prosperity thing even though I’m not superstitious). 🎉bravo!
