Very nice. I have one given to me by a friend. Mine's a 1958 model with the target grips. The target grips are not relieved on the left side like most are. Mine still looks as new with the blueing in excellent condition.
I have a taurus 38 spl model 83. I have had it for a long time. Fired it once maybe twice. Is this gun a vintage gun? I had a hard time looking the "model 83" here in TH-cam.
They are still floating around the used market. They were made between 1977-1998 and were available in blued and stainless. Price depends on condition but I've seen them average 3-400.
Its ironic you have that s&w mat. I have identical k22 and Smith just refused to service it because it was made before 1960. So much for corporate guarantees!!
That is exactly what I was told about a Mod. 41 made in the first year they were manufacturered. He said a gun that old no doubt need some new parts!!!
Jolsen o wow. Normally I get mine from individuals, not shops. Seems like when I'm looking for something I either can't find it or everyone wants to much for it. I'm sure you will find a good deal on one.
Beautiful piece and great story
Man, that’s a beautiful gun. Classic S&W are definitely in my top list of firearms. Great price too.

Excellent score ! Enjoyed the story behind this fine old piece.
HardTarget Thanks, she is definitely a keeper.
I just bought a k22 target model from my local shop made in 1948

@@TacticalWingnut thank you.
So how has it shot for you since you posted this video five years ago?
It shot like a dream, very accurate. Ended up selling to a brother of mine that collects S&W guns.
Do you know the trigger pull pounds?? Thank you
Double action was about 6.5 lbs, single action was 1.8-2lbs.

If someone would offer me one for that price. I'd instantly poop my pants!
I would love to find a 10 shot for under $300
Jolsen They are out there. I picked up a 9 shot Histandard for 100 a few years ago, great gun.
TacticalWingnut yeah all the ones I have been finding are near $500 in my area.
