The idea of the Dark Troopers was so illusive to me since they kept showing up in video games, artwork, etc. I watched the original trilogy to death as a kid and kept wondering if maybe I missed em somewhere lol. I'm hoping we get to see them in live action one day. I guess Mando S2 is the closest we're getting. Anyway, I really dug this review! I really enjoy your sorta off the cuff style. Feels like I'm listening to an old friend. Very cozy video! Subscribed
Ahh yes I could totally see doing that back then. Frankly I’m surprised they didn’t throw some in for the special editions you know haha. Omg mando season 2 totally used that idea for those bad ass robots. Honestly I know why they made so many robots prequel onwards (lightsaber dismembering) but I guess I was hoping for more lightsaber on trooper action lol. Not pg that way though. And wow thank you for that wonderful compliment. I go back and forth doubting myself on not scripting videos every so often so hearing that is very heartening. I look forward hearing from you more and having you here friend.
Ah Dark Forces, the start of one of my all time favorite gaming serieses. I owned the PC version, back in the day. I *believe* the DOS version is available on GOG (running on DOSBox). There's a fan made mod to enable mouselook, so you can play it more like a modern FPS too. As for Kyle Katarn, the dude's a legend. In his first game, he stole the first death star plans, punched Jabba's kell dragons to death with his bare fists, and took down the Empire's version of Terminators, FOR GREAT JUSTICE!! If you haven't played them, I *highly* recommend checking out the rest of the (oddly named) series. Star Wars: Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, Star Wars: Dark Forces III: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and Star Wars: Dark Forces IV: Jedi Knight III: Jedi Outcast II: Jedi Academy. :D
Wow I didn’t know Jedi outcast was part of dark forces. I do now after looking into Kyles character but damn home boy is a strait bad ass who drips GREAT JUSTICE. I particularly loved the part where I beat that kell dragon to death. Prolly my favorite stage haha. That pc mod sounds like the way to go.
I too was way into the expanded universe. Read the books in 8th grade, saw all three of the special editions of the movies. Shame they never made a Shadows of the Empire movie! Anyways, yeah, this does look rough.
Same I had a birthday party to go see the return of the Jedi special edition. Absolutely was obsessed with it shadows of the empire too. This wasn’t too bad but def better on pc I’d imagine
I was never a huge Star Wars fan, but this looks right up my alley since I enjoy old shooters like this. I might try to track down a pc port though since the controls look confusing as hell lol. if you think this plays bad though, you should try the SNES port of Doom. Somehow I beat it as a kid. Excellent vid my man! Keep it up!
I don’t know if you ever played turok in n64, well the controls aren’t that weird but pretty close to that feeling of wtf is this for sure lol. Kudos to you on snes doom. I had a copy of it a few years back but sadly the top label was missing so I sold it. Wish I hadn’t now. Though if I’m gonna play doom I should play the og haha
@@LukesGamerRoom dude, Turok on the N64 was a fave of mine! That and the South Park FPS lol. Even went as far as to buy the Turok remaster on Switch and pc
control set. Left thumb = move around. Right thumb = look around Dpad left right switch guns, up down switch items Triangle Jump ascend from water Square duck/submerge in water X activate stuff Circle use force abilities L1 run fast R1 attack L2 and R2 switch force.
God, this looked way better in the 90s...

One thing the PS1 version did WAy better than the PC version was the soundtrack. It's so much better on the PS1 version.

I’m so mad I missed out on ordering turok for switch physical man
I didn't get it either, mainly due to pricing. $5 versus $50, $5 wins every time lol. Same for Doom 64
True true
Pc was how I played this, also dark forces on the n64 was very reminiscent .
it was on the n64??

Shadows of empire was my bad
@@LukesGamerRoom very similar game
Oh yes of course, i loved that game. and yea very cryptic as well, but at the time I only had like 4 N64 games so plenty of time to put into it
@@LukesGamerRoom It was great play through, did all the difficulty levels if I remember.
N64 starwars games were soooooo good
Love me some clunky early 90s star wars games. Not to play anymore but just for nostalgia
There is a certain magic to it. Im sure shadows of the empire is awful now but I loved it back in the day lol
i wish dark forces 2 Jedi Knight had a PS1 port
