You have quickly become one of the best channels for Paris sights, along with Les Frenchies. You deserve many more subscribers. My wife and I have been watching your channel from the beginning, and your content and your editing are excellent. You show things that others don't, and have made us change plans for our trip this October because of some of your videos. Thank you for all you do!
"All that is necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing." - Attributed to Edward Burke. Over 75 years ago millions of good men and women sacrificed to fight evil. Some, like your grandfather, made the ultimate sacrifice. We should all be thankful for their sacrifice and you should be very proud of your grandfather!
@@paristoptips - You're welcome. Since I've found your channel a little while back, there hasn't been a video you have put out, that I didn't learn something from, and didn't enjoy. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to return to Paris and use some of the stuff I've learnt from you.
Excellent . I have been to Paris many times and have not been to some of the places you mentioned . Thank you. I will plan to visit places I have not visited on my next visit .
merci beaucoup! I admit I skipped through the fire scenes of N.D. I was fortunate to have attended a service there ~ 2010 and watched in horror on TV of the 2019 fire. I was able to visit Paris again in the fall of 2019. I could not look too much at the destruction even though I was staying close by in the Latin Quarter. You do inspire me to go back and spend time on Lle de la Cite. I want to see Sainte Chapelle! Thanks again.
My wife and I arrived in France from the UK in 1989 to live year-round and became French in 2018 after the Brexit Referendum. Your video is DEFINITELY INSPIRING for our next to Paris. Thank you 🙏. Excellent +1.
I guess if you know you've only got a few days to live it's worth paying to live them in relative comfort. Those guards had a good earner going there. I don't believe that Queen Marie Antoinette was as stupid or as cruel as her enemies made out and they were nasty pieces of work for sure. When I read the book by Jean Plaidy "Flaunting, extravagant Queen" I couldn't read it to the end and it made me cry. Which is not like me. I must try to visit the awesome Saint Chapelle+ book online.
Wonderful video! You have convinced me to visit this island as I will stay nearby at the Latin Quarter in October 2023. I will try to see all the marvels of your video per your map. Thanks a lot.
Bonjour, thank you for such wonderful videos of walking tours….my wife and I will be in Paris 1-5 Oct and we will follow your walking tours guide for the different parts of Paris. Is it possible to obtain good walking maps that we can use?
Super! YOu might find maps in libraries in Paris, but they will be in French. Also this book, in French could be very useful: www.amazon.fr/50-balades-pour-red%C3%A9couvrir-Paris/dp/2036024262/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2F3DUHT1RF1A8&keywords=50+balades+pour+red%C3%A9couvrir+paris&qid=1693155745&sprefix=50+balades+%2Caps%2C73&sr=8-1
Great walking tour!!!😊 Reminds me of where I am going to be next Tuesday, Gods willing. 5 pm Saint Chapelle , 8:00pm dinner at Le Procope( thanks to you)🙏🏻💓
Would it still be possible to retrace the route taken by Jean Valjean and Cosette on the night they had to flee their home and go across the city to the convent?
@@paristoptips At the moment, I am re-reading the two volumes of Les Misérables, en Français. I'm still a long way from that particular night, but when I reach it, I will write out the entire itinerary. My only fear is that Paris may have changed substantially since then.

Sainte-Chapelle is a definitive must-see in Paris. And even better, going to a concert there is a dream come true!
HA! Alain! I am staying two blocks from the Maubert Metro next year! ♥
Yes, great place.
Great video! Thank you! I particularly love your walking videos - what better way to discover a city and its secret charms?
Glad you like them! Paris is one of the best cities I know, with Roma, to make ever interesting strolls.
Un des plus beaux quartiers de Paris. Très belle vidéo
Merci beaucoup !🙏🙏🙏
I couldn't make out what looked like piles of rock on the floor in the Hall of the Soldiers. What are they.?
They were a temporary art exhibition from an artist making sand sculptures.
@@paristoptips Ah. Rather distracting. Thanks.
Thank you for a moving and historical video. History has so much to teach us; these days more than ever.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for the comment.
You've given us a wonderful tour, with highlights galore. Thank you so much.

Bonjour et merci. I'm very happy to see another video in this series. It's my favorite bits of your content; so informative.
Happy to hear that!
Couldn’t be any more relevant, I’ll be staying right there in 3 days time and cannot wait. Thank you for all the extra detail 😊
Glad you liked it!
I’m very sorry about your grandfather.
Very kind of you. Then, obviously, I've never known him, so it's more of a family history, that got me very interested in what happened during WW2.
An excellent video. Have visited the memorial twice, a very moving experience.
It is, really...
A great place to discover.
Wonderful Paris video 👍👍👍👍👍
I made videos from the Batobus in navigations sur la Seine 🙂
Thanks !

Wherever they stayed, for most of these people, the exit was the same, sadly...
