A true unsung legend. Wrote and sang with the Oak Ridge Boys before they went Country, and was a member of Exile during their "lost years" (post-"Kiss You All Over"-pre Country comeback). Also co-wrote some of Alabama's big hits, had some hits of his own, and the video for this excellent song is a 9-minute production! His vocals and styling was a lot like T. Graham Brown, another favorite of mine. RIP Mark, you are still missed.
I had all of Mark's music before I met him and became a fan of the person as well as his music. We visited many times and his live performances were the best. I took him and a few other musicians to a nursing home as part of a festival I was involved in and he knew every gospel song that was requested including some "shape note"stuff I wasn't familiar with. A amazing talent! The last time I saw Mark I took him and Janice to dinner after his stroke and his essence was still there but it had taken his ability to play and sing from him. I miss him and his live performances but thankfully we still have his music.

I didn't know Mark had passed. I knew him from Gate To Gate Music. A very talented guy, he cared about music and people. I'll always remember his advice and kindness. RIP Mark, you're in a better place now.
he was nice he responded on one of my comments I had told him well I had posted this song was beautiful and haunting and I'd only ever heard it once as a kid but I remembered every word and he responded and told me thank you and that he was glad and I enjoyed it that's the only time I ever talked to him but like I said you was very nice.

This song I cried myself to sleep to many a night. It was so hard to sleep alone in my bed after the love of my life and I broke up. I 'm not sure I'll ever understand what happened but I never got over him or stopped loving him. I've been in love with him for 50 yrs and he died 23 yrs ago.
Mark was my dad's youngest brother. He passed away on December 2, 2016. He was such an amazing talent and he put on quite a few memorable concerts in our living room when I was a kid.
