It's insane that the face graphics still holds up today.
For vr game is very good
The stars in the sky is actually generated dynamically. Its blurry because of a post process effect on the level that blurs distant stuff.
Ah, that's interesting! Thanks for the comment.
If you play the start again with the HUD activated, the game will teach you the VR controls via on screen descriptions.
Putting a holo sight on the gun made the aiming easier than using black on black iron sights.
I’ll probably start again in that case to get those extra tutorial sections. I’m a little lost on where all the ammo is to be honest. I keep running out.
@@ImmersedRobotpick up the guns from the floor and it will get their ammo. Swap guns over your shoulder and press the trigger or the hip for sidearms.
its finally the time for me to play crysis
I wasn't gaming when Crysis came out so I never actually played it, this looks really cool!
Maximum awesomeness
FIRST! This is like my fav game ever! Watching this right now!!
You've got to give this a try then. It works really well in VR. I've played a bit more now, and I wish I'd been a bit more enthusiastic in this video about it.
I'm going to play this on my Pimax Crystal, which I bought on eBay last week for £350 😉
Whaaa? £350 for the OG Crystal? You got a bargain there.
@ImmersedRobot Yes It has a sun spot damaged in the top left lens, but it just disappears when in a game.
@@colin8877 Nice! I've dipped into this on the Pimax Crystal and it looks great, but I definitely struggle to run it at that high resolution on my system. A GPU upgrade is definitely on my shopping list in the next couple of months.
Wait, computers can actually run crysis these days?! lol Good stuff!!
Well this is just awesome
Nice gotta try this again.
I remember trying this quite a while ago but it didn't work right, it made the game run at like 1FPS lol.
Crysis isn't really a demanding game, the problem is that it only uses 2 cores.
Edit.
It "works", as in, it detects and follows the headset movement, but it doesn't show anything on the headset, just on a window on the desktop.
This is on a Quest 2 with the link cable.
So if anyone have any tips to fix that, it would be great.
I have a Valve index and its not picking up the controllers. Is there something I'm missing?
You can see your feet during gameplay right (after the initial cutscene)?
No, the game seems to just render your arms, not your full body.
@@ImmersedRobot thanks
VR in crisis, or Crisis in VR? 🤔
It’s a cheap gag for sure. What have I become?
@@ImmersedRobot A youtube content creator!
The clickbait made me chuckle :)
Super cool. Can I run it in SteamVR with Valve controllers and base stations tracking on my HTC Vive?
I don’t see why that wouldn’t work. It runs in OpenXR so you can just use SteamVR as your OpenXR runtime (in the same way most newer games run).
@@ImmersedRobot thanks. How do I do it for non steam game that Crysis is? Should I just add it as non steam game to my steam library and launch it from there?
@ You should be able to just start SteamVR then run the CrysisVR mod shortcut from the desktop (or wherever it’s located). You could add it as a non-Steam game as well, but that shouldn’t be necessary.
@@ImmersedRobot thank you for replying. Much appreciated. I will experiment with it a bit. I also have HP Reverb so I can hopefully run the game from WMR. I am intentionaly blocking windows updates so the WMR is not being removed by Microsoft.
@@ImmersedRobot So I got it runing with HP Reverb but it is so laggy that it is not possible to navigate the menu. It is set to lowest resolution and medium settings.
How did you run crysis? It's not running for me, bought on GOG
I just installed the mod .exe and pointed it to my Crysis installation directory. You then go into the Bin64 directory and run the CrysisVR.exe. It worked straight away on my system.
Run with -dx9 in startup settings
Run as administrator
What resolution are you running it on?
In this video, I’m recording at ‘medium’ in Virtual Desktop which equates to 2016 x 2112. I tend to use ‘high’ now, which is 2496 x 2592 I believe.
This does not work with a reverb g2 or a pimax crystal light might not be working with a psvr 2 or any vive or valve vr hmd's with wands controllers
As long as you have SteamVR selected as the OpenXR runtime then it should work. I've just tried it on my own Pimax Crystal and it works fine.
@@ImmersedRobot I tried everything when the image shows up it's a one frame per second on screen no matter what in steam vr set with or without open xr tooklit, on steam or with the pimax priority rendering. nothing makes it playable
@@nigaudlotovrbenchmarkandvi313 Is the Crysis window in focus? This happened to me when I played on Quest 3, but had inadvertantly clicked away from the window to record my audio. Until I clicked back on the Crysis window to re-focus it then it ran at an ultra low framerate.
It might not be that, but worth a try.
@@ImmersedRobot By focus you mean (active or on top ?) but either way that does not change anything and the controllers are not recognized (maybe by unpluging my 360 pad it will detect the vr controllers ? I have to point and click with the mouse trying to access any options at 1 fps or with the hmd on pause the mouse pointer works ok but the vr options at the bottom are not accessible this way)
@ I’m not sure what else to suggest. I’ve tested with Quest 3 on Virtual Desktop and Pimax Crystal, and it works on both on my system. Quest 3 isn’t using SteamVR, it’s using VDXR. But the Crystal does run through SteamVR. I’ll also test with PSVR2 when I get a chance.
time to buy a 5090, no?
I guess so. I can’t stretch to a 5090, but I need a GPU upgrade soon for sure.
Noice
0 Excuses for Triple A games to look like garbage with their billions behind a project.
It CAN be done, they just dont want to do it.
yup game is fine vr mod breaks it meh oh well few hours of my life i wont get bk
just crashes all the time i wouldnt bother
The mod works pretty well and is easy to install too. It does not feel like native VR, but it's as close as it can get considering the age of this game and the fact that you usually use keyboard, buttons or mouse to play. It is very demanding in terms of CPU load, more than todays games, which make use of GPU much more. I did a test on my RTX 3070 Laptop (Ryzen 7 5800H) and on a RTX 4070 Ti SUPER PC (Ryzen 9 7950X). On the Laptop i had to use SSW@72Hz with a quality setting of HIGH and in-game settings adjusted mostly to medium to get it to run good enough. The PC with the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER works at native 72fps/Hz at HIGH with in-game settings set to high for the most part. It may be worth trying out 120Hz with SSW turned on on that machine using a higher resolution in Virtual Desktop. I have uploaded both test runs on my TH-cam channel with the settings noted in the description. PS: i never played this game in flatscreen before and i suck in gameplay 🙂
But what i could not get to work is switching the weapons. I know i have a riffle and a gun, but i can't switch the weapon, no matter which button i press. Anyone can help ?
Yes, it is more demanding than I get across in this video. After progressing more, the further you go through that beach area, the worse performance is. I'm running a 5800x3D CPU (along with an RTX 3080) and performance is resonable when running at 72fps on my Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop. But it certainly still dips into reprojection occasionally.
With regards to the weapons, there are the two main locations for storing multiple guns - the shoulder and hip. If you're holding a shoulder weapon for example, but have collected a separate shoulder weapon, then you can switch between them by holding the grip button over your shoulder. The hip holster works the same way. To switch from shoulder to hip (or vice versa) just hold your controller in the location you want to select a weapon and press grip again. I didn't do that in this video, but have since sorted that out.
@@ImmersedRobot thanks for the hint regarding the weapons. I will definitely try that out.
Regarding the performance i need to test out more options. The CPU load is extreme compared to newer games. My RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has frametimes between 2ms and 5ms in heavy scenes whereas the CPU frametime goes up to 19ms on the Ryzen 9 7950X. Also only 16 cores are used, so half of the CPU is not used here. The 5800X3D should perform better in those situations. It's an older game, which does not make use of modern GPU accelleration that much.
Also, Your rocket launcher is further down your back. 2 assault rifles at right shoulder. Explosives on left shoulder. Launcher middle back. Pistols on hips. I love you can often backtrack to where you left your gun or rocket launchers and choose which weapon to proceed with. Pick up all ammo off bodies @@ImmersedRobot
@@ImmersedRobot i tested the switch of weapons and it works, thanks for the hint. What i still could not figure out is how to switch between different riffles. I can collect riffles from enemies and when i active one after pulling it from my right shoulder i can see two riffles being shown in the bottom right display for a couple of seconds, but i cannot choose any of them.
@@ProgrammistMusic I'm sure that while I'm holding a rifle, I reach behind my shoulder, press grip again and it will select the other rifle automatically. I'd need to go back in and check, but I was definitely able to switch rifles yesterday when I played.
