As mentioned in the description on the workshop - You can transport more to the rig using a ship and the crane or helicopter, if you're not comfortable making one yourself then there's a couple of good ISO compatible drilling rod containers on the workshop by KillerMoose, MadMikePro and Captain1994. Hint - You can find them by going onto the steam workshop and typing "Drilling rods".... ;)
Intresting video. i havent been updated on stormworkers in months and i whas realy excited watching the oil dlc. I work with subsea equipent my sealf. wondering why there is not anything more added to the wellhead. like atleast a blowout preventor (bop). new ideas for you to make?:) keep the good work!
I'd probably hold off on Stormworks for the moment as the most recent update that came out alongside their new Space DLC has broken a lot of the creations on the workshop and is causing issues with the oil refining components, including those on the Developers own pre-set drilling rig that comes with the game - which is the template I used for much of the Alwent South. I'll be releasing a video within the next few days that actually goes into more detail regarding the problems that we're having, but hopefully they'll release a patch or hotfix soon that resolves most of these bugs.
I only have one issue so far.. if you’re going to use it for selling the jet fuel it takes a long time to make it and a long time to pump into a ship. But if you’re willing to put in the work it works. If you think you can go to sleep and let the pumps rip all night to fill your boat don’t lol we have a ship that holds like 500,000 L well I woke up and she was at the bottom still going under investigation to see if we over pumped are a tsunami
You can thank the changes implemented by the Devs for that. Prior to the Space DLC and compressed gasses update those large pumps were more than enough and the refinery used to churn out the product at a rate of knots. I've never had any problems with the fuel pumps being slow on my side - but most of my creations have pumps inside them to assist with pumping the fuel in ever since version 1.0, as that tends to work better than just relying on the pumps from the refineries, especially the default ones on the refinery island. At the end of the day I've done what I can in order to fix everything and get it working again just before Christmas last year, unfortunately I don't really play Stormworks much these days so any fixes in the future will most likely come about if and when the Devs break things again. Feel free to make any changes you like to it for personal use though, you could try adding a couple more pumps 'etc' to see if that helps things?
If it's too deep for the crane or a ship with a huge winch then you'll probably need to use an ROV or minisub, there's some good ones on the workshop, I particularly recommend either the Manta II by A54SS or the Triton 4000 by Figaro 45.
Unfortunately unlike in Space Engineers the custom player bases and vehicles in Stormworks aren't built piece by piece during the game, at least not in the way we're used to that is, they're actually built in a separate creative-style instance called the Workbench and then they're imported into the game world. Watching someone like me slowly and painstakingly building something over the course of several weeks in creative mode using the workbench would be enough to put most people to sleep I think.
The controls mentioned in this video are the default ones used in Stormworks at the time of recording. If the devs have changed the default keys or if a player rebinds them then obviously they're going to be different, either way you don't need my help for that as that's something you can easily figure out for yourself and should only take you a few seconds.
I take everything I said back I’m in the black gold my advice to people is when your drilling down and you think something is wrong with what you did just keep drilling you will hit it
So I been trying to pump fluid to the boat but Jesus it takes forever so I’m adding some serious pumps to pump fluid quick I just wanted to say all the modifications I’m putting on this rig will be mine only I will not sabotage you by reposting the rig with all my modifications but it’s going to be vary fast at every single thing it dose. Also I wanted to ask why the life boats don’t work on the elite rig? And why is everything locked up?
The lifeboats and the non-vital rooms have been gutted out and physics flooders added into them for the lite version of the Alwent South (Yes that's Lite as in light, not Elite), it's designed that way in order to reduce the performance costs compared to the original and runs twice as fast on older machines. This is explained in the description on the steam workshop.
If the pump jack is switched on at the console and you haven't got any oil coming in (i.e. the alarm didn't sound or oil spray up into the air) then there's a good chance you're on a world seed where the oil is even deeper under the seabed, it's random unfortunately and I've even seen some players mention they needed to ferry in more rods before they struck oil.
Ok do you know how many pipes they drilled in well I guess it would vary. But I forgot to add that I’m three pipes below sea bed and it won’t keep going the pipe header is just jumping
That's odd. If there's still drilling fluid in the tank, the pipes are all connected between the wellhead and pumpjack then the drill should keep on going until it strikes oil. Have you tried it again in creative mode in a different world seed, it might just be that one is bugged in some way?
It started jumping so I stopped I thought I messed something up but I thought maybe it’s just jumping because of the rock so I just kept going and I hit the oil love the rig love everything about it thank you for this peace of knowledge
Well that's what happens if you keep playing with it.... Seriously though, have you read through the known issues section? Make sure you're on high physics mode, not low or medium and definitely not Auto, as that'll make the cables jump up and down at random, potentially causing damage to the wellhead. Apart from that my only other advice is just be gentle and make sure you don't lower the wellhead too much between alternating pressing the S key. If both myself and the 7,000 other subscribers to the Alwent South can do it then I'm sure you can too! Good Luck!
very nice captain robertson
Love the lore at the beginning 😂😂😂
great mod i keep mixing up the buttoms tho
Man that's impressive!
Hey I love this build but im in a very deep spot for drilling and I ran out of all the rods... How can I get more?

Whenever I press S to lower it, it keeps on automatically lowering like I can’t manually do it

Hello, what can i do if my Rod is stuck deeper than i can reach with the crane?

can you make a series making 1 of thos plantforms

I can’t drill idk what I’m doing wrong I’m fallowing the tutorial and still can’t hit oil for me and my boys
At what part of the drilling process are you having difficulty with exactly and what's happening?

Ok I’m on the large oil rig base I shoved 3 drill pipes down and no oil I’m pass the sea bed by 3 rods

Yeah it did some jumping but I was just sending it! lol 5 pipes it took below sea bed b4 I hit oil

my rods explode when i press the s key
