In a multi-generational household, it’s important everyone knows the fire escape plan - just ask Luke.
Luke (10) and his family were fast asleep the night their home fire started. His mother woke to the sound of the smoke alarm and charged down the hallway to find the kitchen blanketed in a haze of smoke and the oven shooting fiery sparks. Luke started down the hallway, but his father hurriedly scooped him up and carried him outside. As Luke stood on the street in a panic watching firefighters with axes descend on his home, he thought he would surely lose his grandparents who were still inside. Moments later, his grandparents burst through the doorway and made their way out. Now, Luke looks back on this day with gratitude that they heard the smoke alarms and everyone made it out safely.
