From my experience, every time I saw a PFC AAA it's always been 999,xxx scores whereas fake AAAs (i.e. black flags/SDGs) are like 998 or something, so hearing of a non PFC being over 998k is pretty surprising to me. If a song has at least 506 steps, then it is possible to get a 999k score with 1 great and extremely few perfects - the higher the song's step count, the more perfects allowed. For example, Elemental Creation S-CHA allows for a score of 817 Marvelouses, 42 Perfects, and 1 Great to get 999,000. Also, if you get 101+ Perfects on any song, your score will be below 999k despite getting a PFC. (But note that the AAA score cutoff is 990,000, not 999,000.)
this is totally wrong. you can absolutely get a 999,XXX score with 1 great, or even 1 miss. the game scales and weights everything equally. if one great is worth -700 points compared to a marvelous (which is entirely possible depending on the step count of the song), then if you get 0 perfects and 1 great, you'll get 999,300.
and actually, this has nothing to do with syncing and everything to do with a timing window glitch. 99p pfc sounds legit and all, but with how wonky the song has been lately how can you say with confidence you REALLY got it?

not quite. first off, it's not in beta at all. second, X3 had OMES on day 1 (extra was amalgamation, OMES was unbelievable). it's just that konami doesn't want games to continue on for too long. that's why they removed OMES and also why the max stages for one credit was reduced from 5 to 4 in the operator menu.
considering i was under the impression that the song was glitched (i mean really nick, 9 PERFECT RUN is highly suspicious of an error considering the world record on the Standard chart is 14p), which doesn't seem to be the case, my original comment is irrelevant. but, thanks for that, buddy.
You forget how the scoring system works dude, you only get 999 xxx scores if you have 0 greats, so even if your MA is atrocious the game still gives you your AAA. In cases like 1p 1g you could have something like 998 999 in theory, close to the 999k but not equal to or greater than until you get that great out of the way. Konami do seem to have scaled it accordingly, 1g or below would cap you at 998 xxx regardless of MA whereas 0g would give you 999 xxx.
