Hi Lawrence, great tips mate, I found one or two wax moths pupae when I opened my hives in March since the usual colony build up the bees have done their thing and got ridden of them but as you said I freeze my frames and store in a outside shed for the winter. Thx mate for sharing your knowledge with us.
I'm storing drawn comb now after the spring honey harvest. I put the frames back in the hive and let the bee's clean them thoroughly. Next step, put them in Freezer and then in tote for storage. Will this prevent an infestation of wax moth? Thx
Completely depends on how they are managed..May/June are the highest swarming months of the year by far! Just give them plenty of space and inspect every 7 days
Great little video. Thanks!

Very useful and to the point. Thank-you.
Moth crystals work great. Just take them off after a week then let them air out and store in a closed container.

Excellent concise video
Cheers Hugh 🍻
That’s great information for an active hive but when you take the supers off how do you keep wax moths out of them?
Very helpful. Thanks.
Thx. Just went through some wax moths and I b freezing frames n comb soon.
Aloha.
Would it be possible to keep the frames all winter in the freezer or fridge? It doesn't get more sealed and sterile than that..
Yes - that's perfect but not easily scalable. If you have space they will store very well in the freezer
Any chance you could do a video on a hive split if you can't move the split to another location.
Yes. I'll add it to the list 😀
Great video
Hi Laurence, receiving my nuc tomorrow and was wondering what the likelihood of swarming in May/June
Completely depends on how they are managed..May/June are the highest swarming months of the year by far! Just give them plenty of space and inspect every 7 days
If it's a mild infestation can you still use them, and won't the bees clean the frames up?
Yes. Bees will clean and repair no problem
Hi. One of my hives are kicking out wax moth approx 1 every 2 to 3 days. Too cold to open up. What would you suggest?
They are doing their job it seems. Id leave them to it :)
Is that a random wild ringneck grouse at 4:20?!
Is that a male pheasant walking past in the background off your right shoulder from 4:20 - 4:45 ?
Ha! Yeah - thinks he owns the place that guy! 🙄
what if you have 200 hives?
