    Hi Lawrence, great tips mate, I found one or two wax moths pupae when I opened my hives in March since the usual colony build up the bees have done their thing and got ridden of them but as you said I freeze my frames and store in a outside shed for the winter. Thx mate for sharing your knowledge with us.

    I'm storing drawn comb now after the spring honey harvest. I put the frames back in the hive and let the bee's clean them thoroughly. Next step, put them in Freezer and then in tote for storage. Will this prevent an infestation of wax moth? Thx

    Moth crystals work great. Just take them off after a week then let them air out and store in a closed container.

    That’s great information for an active hive but when you take the supers off how do you keep wax moths out of them?

    Any chance you could do a video on a hive split if you can't move the split to another location.

    Hi Laurence, receiving my nuc tomorrow and was wondering what the likelihood of swarming in May/June

    • @BlackMountainHoney
      @BlackMountainHoney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Completely depends on how they are managed..May/June are the highest swarming months of the year by far! Just give them plenty of space and inspect every 7 days

    Would it be possible to keep the frames all winter in the freezer or fridge? It doesn't get more sealed and sterile than that..

    • @BlackMountainHoney
      @BlackMountainHoney  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes - that's perfect but not easily scalable. If you have space they will store very well in the freezer

    If it's a mild infestation can you still use them, and won't the bees clean the frames up?

    Hi. One of my hives are kicking out wax moth approx 1 every 2 to 3 days. Too cold to open up. What would you suggest?

    1.) The wax moth do not eat wax .😃😁😆😛🤔 The Moth eats the cocoon which are in the used brood frames cells 😵😵‍💫🤠 . Do you have seen WM in Super Honey frames ?????? 🙁☹😮🥺 I have been told by my BEE_Father as a beginner : Do not have a slot as the entranse to the hive !!!!!!!!!⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔ Do have round holes not biger than 3/8 Inch ( 9,5 mm diam. ) as a protektion to keep the WM out 🚱⤵↕↕↕ . But make the holes so that also the queen may go out to mate and come back . 🛄🛄🛄🛄
