Reminds me of bbqs with my parents, brother and sister, aunt uncle way back when we were kids. They did loved paradise and lunch …. Happiest of happy times. Hell of a guitarist is Ry ❤
Those backup vocals are phenomenal. Sweet harmony, indeed. Ry Cooder is an American treasure. He should be named US Musical Ambassador to the World. Pure class.
Wonderful. Just listening to My Favourite Album podcast with Jeremy Dylan. John Leventhal chose this. Great discussion. This is a wonderful album. And Ry is my ultimate hero! I hope he's not bored of hearing the phrase 'musician's musician'. It's a great accolade and I can't think of anyone more deserving.

@@francoisebeylie2923 Hey Francoise , Saw Mr.Cooder at Town Hall in Manhattan about two and a years ago .. Great show !! He doesn't come around that often .... Peace Brother ... Jimmy ...
@GreenManalishiUSA. Muy amable. I second that emotion. All the great guitarists are chosen by God. Ry, Eric, Keef, Chuck Berry, et al have been anointed from On High. They play with the certainty of a Prophet who has no doubt. Its always wonderful to hear Mr. Ry.
@@francoisebeylie2923 Thank You! What a gem. 1974 is the year of Paradise and Lunch, one of my top 100 albums ever. Saw Ry twice in that era. Fabulous band, songs and talent.
Some of these names to songs are intriguing to say the least like this one Ry Cooder is singing ..The rhythem and melody has a good beat..the backup singers are good also..
Thanks for posting--I think his solo break in the middle is a more extended version, is it not? You can really see his finger work and chording. He makes it look so effortless. Wonderful song.
You did a great job Tony, it sounds really good! And thank you for the video, I enjoyed it a lot. It's sure easy to tell that Ry's got soul !! Such a sweet sounding song. Of course I love Linda's cover also! Do you know anything about who he's playing with - his band & background singers?
Recorded live at the Record Plant, Sausalito CA 2-24-1973; Ry Cooder: Guitar & Vocals; Russ Titelman: Bass; Jim Keltner: Drums; Milt Holland: Percussion; Gene Mumford: Vocals; Bobby KIng vocals; Cliff Givens: Vocals.
there's a great concert somewhere on the internet; it is audio only but worth the download. i believe it is from May 16, 1974 i think it was broadcasted by JPN FM. check it out, its worth it
There's something posted from Passim in Boston. Early, simpler version, closer to the original 78 recording. This early version morphed into something more complex with the band - BOTH great however.
This is the acoustic version I referred to. I prefer this to the pop version. It is a lesson on how to play bottleneck blues. th-cam.com/video/IAIkg4u8luo/w-d-xo.html

Indeed!
Ben Moses Ry’s vocals are so good on this song. Smooth.
I think his parents were probably pretty classy, hence him being so damn nice.
Loved this man's music for 46 years now.
this is just about flawless.... incredible ensemble playing . god bless the rhythm section

Great song. The backing vocals are a perfect companion for Ry´s guitar here. Thanks for sharing.
What a gem...puts me in a trance! Ry is amazing and gospel singers all stellar and sing as one...what an art form...
Timeless! Thanks for posting this treasure. Happy 70th Mr. Cooder.
This is the most haunting song. And it swings. Does it ever swing!
I love this song!! One of the best I've ever heard. Thanks for the upload!
Thank you for posting
just heard this for the first time. terrific. such a beat, rhythm, super all around
It was part of the sound track of Robin Williams "Cadillac Man" too (at the end of the movie). Great tune. "A thing of beauty is a joy forever".
This is class. Great song from a great artist
Such a FUCKING GREAT TALENT......LOVE COODER!!!
WOW.....timeless and amazing Ry Cooder :D
Nice to actually see as well as hear the great Jim Keltner on the drums.
Those backup singers should have been higher up in the mix, what legends :o
I first heard this song during the movie Cadillac Man. I have loved it since.
LMFAO. I loved this the first time I heard it after buying the record nearly 47 years ago, and seeing Ry, Flaco & Gabby do this live in 76'.

Wonder if this video was shot during the recording of Paradise and Lunch? These are the studio musicians, not a touring band. Wow!

What about *FLACO?*
Linda Ronstadt nailed this song
When I was a kid I wanted to be Jimmy Page. Now I want to be Ry Cooder.
Heaven...
Just finished watching Cadillac Man with Robin williams.
The backing singers are the same guys from the other video 'Live 1977 Shepherds Bush'!

No they are not! The guys on "Live 1977 Shepherd's Bush" are much younger.
Roland Weckström Oh yes silly me!
Great!!

@xSavantxYT I don't have the concert on video, wish I did,
Is there a guitar lesson in internet?
There once was an acoustic version on TH-cam, with Ry playing bottleneck in an open D tuning. Way better, but it has been taken down. Drat.
