Our language is one of the most difficult to interpret. Too many different meanings for one word. So in a karaoke venue where english is not the native language, I can see 'lie' working better than 'lay' It causes a lyric 'stumble' when a word is different on the screen to how you know it sounds in the song. This can make the performance suck, when otherwise it may not have... It happens to me and english is my native language lol. I make sure l learn the song so I don't need the screen. I can focus on 'nailing' all the notes to give it my best. Works for me! It sucks when you blow it on the intro. A trainwreck is usually how it ends...
