I just stumbled across this.... and its me! I was the first guy to ever to perform this show. It opened in the Summer of 1986 and was designed and produce by a great group of folks from Landmark Entertainment in LA. Talk about a flood of memories!!! I can't believe its STILL running after all these years. I remember it was a real challenge getting the timing exactly right because everything is prerecorded except for Northrop. What a blast! Way too much fun to do!!!
Thank you Jim. I was one of those kids in the audience with my family. I do remember you when I saw this video. My 2 kids love this show on YT. I took my family back for the 40th Anniversary at BG a few years ago. They did a small Enchanted Laboratory outside, but had the orginal birds Elixir and Pellinore.
I can't believe I found this random Busch video. I remeber going to this show when I was a youngling and now I'm 34 😢. One of my best memories of Busch. Truly a special theme park, with their awesome employees and actors. Can't wait to take my kids so they can make memories of their own.
I too stumbled across this...and see Jim Wood, one of the first four of us, the original Northrop cast! The shows ran continuously so we were paired up and took turns performing so the show would never stop (except for a technical glitch, or lack of smoke). I have great memories of the rehearsals with Jim, David and Jon. And I still have the original cast jacket Rich made for all of us. My only regret was not getting a stuffed Pelinore, Elixir and Talon so my kids could enjoy them. Truly a wonderful show and wonderful cast, I remember all the company throughout the park of 86 so fondly. Jim, I recall being told that our hair really made the book opening bit look great!
It's such a shame this and the newer show are now gone and have been replaced with Elmo and Friends. This set is built for so much more than what Busch Gardens has been using it for these past ten years. Hopefully one day more great shows like this will come back to the castle in Ireland.
I remember watching this show and being amazed by it, and my dad ruining the flying part by going “You can see the arm lifting him up”..like thanks Dad, I had perfectly manufactured a belief that anything was possible for a minute there..
This show was performed in what we know now as the Castle O' Sullivan, which currently is unoccupied. It used to be occupied during the summer season with Sesame Street Dine, but after that was cut due to lack of funds, the theater was left almost entirely abandoned. With the new show 'All For One' Being hella expensive, and making back even more money, it is unlikely that the space will be occupied for a while. With Invadr going in early next year, it's likely they might even have to demolish the theater entirely. But what if there was something done with the place? What would you want in there? a sort of maze themed area? An exhibit on the park? Or perhaps a show?

OMG, I can't believe you got this on video!! I used to love this show. I was sooooo disappointed when they replaced it with the Irish one.

This was one of my favorite attractions at BGW when I was a kid! Thanks for posting this!
Thank you for this! At 30 now, I have a vague memory of this because of the monster from the bottom.

Was the late Don Messick the voice of Elixir the crow?
Yes
I always wonder HOW that 'kid' survive the guillotine.
