This is such a fun stitch. From time to time, I crochet baby blankets to donate to local hospitals, and I always love to add borders to finish them off. Those for baby girls are no problem, but for boys I usually end up just adding a shell border. That is ok, but this bobble stitch will be perfect for girls, boys, or the neutral ones that are requested by some hospitals.
Doing this fun border will be my reward after all the effort of learning how to make a C2C Afghan and crocheting the squares together! Thank you for a great tutorial and the inspiration.
I cannot thank you enough for all the hard work you put in. I have just finished it !!!!! My g daughter who is 12 visited. She wants one in pinks , I may just have enough in my stash. My husband who is a phillistine, even commented, and it was a good one.Thank you again. Kind regards from London

Thank you for sharing this! I'm just finishing up a C2C baby blanket and could not decide on a border. I'm grateful to find this comment, really helped to figure out what kind of rows to add before the bobble rows. Everything else I was trying just did not look right. Love your channel and your videos! 😊
Hi, I just finished a rainbow scarf and had to exhaust my brain trying to work out a Pom Pom border for it. I managed a version of this but it wasn’t as neat and tidy as yours so will definitely bag your method for next time. Can I make a request for a video or series please, colour pooling! I have only just come across this amazing crochet concept and would love love love your spin on how to tackle it.xxxxx❤
Unfortunately colour pooling gives me intense rage - I don't have the patience for it 😂 If you're just starting, I'd advise trying the pooling patterns that involve granny stitches as I found those the easiest but it's a lot of faff having to constantly count stitches and I had to change my hook sizes mid row .... 😵💫 lol It looks really cool and when it works its super satisfying but I highly doubt I'll ever make tutorials for it because I spent most of my attempts swearing at the yarn and throwing it in the corner 🤣🤣🤣
Robin, beautiful afghan. Your colors are all so colorful Can you tell me the colors you used for zigzag pattern? Also brands, I want to make one just like yours😊❤ Your videos are great, understand your tutorials fine. Everything is such a pleasure, and easy to work out! Keep 'em coming ❤
Thank you so much Roseanna!🥰 I used: Hayfield Bonus DK with a 4mm Hook. This project works for ANY yarn weight - simply use the hook size recommended on your chosen yarn ball band :-) If you are using thicker yarn and find your bobbles are too fat, you can decrease the amount of double crochet stitches you make in each bobble to your taste. I have the full blanket video coming in a few weeks.😃
I have a couple of larger stray granny squares I was given that don't match anything. This would make a great edging around them to have them be a lovey along with a little applique design in one corner.
I definitely don't use the word 'bobble' in sentences often enough 🤔😆 So, I'm sitting here making myself some cheeky lil '3D flowers by Robin' and look who's in my recommendations! 🤗 Don't mind if I do 😌 I've successfully added, erm... backing (?) to my other flowers to make them square, so it's a go for the bag, and a step in the right direction of getting over my irrational cringe of granny squares! Yay me and all who sail in me 🥰
Very nice bubble border for my baby blanlet 😍😍😍 Quick question: you push the stitches back to make the bubble - does this mean that you should be working on the “reverse side” of the blanket? Can you push the bubble either way? (Back or towards yourself) thank you!
@Hooked by Robin awesome I can not wait. I spent several hour last night looking through your tutorials. I have a ton saved. You have some really pretty things.
Thanks so very much Robin!!! I'm working on my first granny Rectangle blanket....(TY for that tutorial as well!), this is the border I will use❣️ Do you work the bobble border on the right side of your work facing you?
@@HookedbyRobin It's been crazy frustrating not having the use of my right hand! At the doctor I said "I'm going to start to crochet again!" My mother looked at me and said "Oh, no. I'm afraid not!" The doctor looked at her then at me and said "That would be very good excersise for your hand!" Mom....silence. 😂😂😂😂
Hello. How did you do the boarder before the bubbles? Did I miss something? I have a continuous granny square blanket id like to do this to. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
You would want to do a single crochet first all the way around your granny squares for a border. In the corners do a single crochet, chain 2 single crochet in the same space. Hope that helps
4 rows in any going er well. Done something wrong on the first row and started with a valley . Must've had a wrong count, any way I'm continuing as the rest is working out beautifully.

@Lady W I didn't no :) x I have a full tutorial for the blanket and the border I worked this bobble edging around coming up in a few weeks x
