Nothing wrong with "male dominated" genre or series, most of the action adventure genres are male dominated and male centered. D&D is an inherently boys brand, always has been. It's the classic fantasy action adventure genre that has always been traditionally male oriented for the most part, just the same as the Sci fi genre. Even HP that was created by JK Rowling and is beloved by almost everyone is a classic hero's story that includes all the elements of a classic male centered action adventure fantasy series.

D&D has always been inclusive, the problem is that it's only recently become cool. If anyone wanted to associate with me back in the 90s, who wasn't a massive nerd they would have been welcomed with open arms. My friends and I were essentially marginalised for our hobby.

It's funny when I was growing up I was surprised so many Vietnamese people lived in the south, but then I lived in Japan, Korea, etc for awhile (I was in the military) and ended up surprised by how much east Asian and traditional southern culture actually had in common. From foods they liked to ideas on hospitality and such.

@@casbyness I did the other thing, just stopped playing, went outside and touched more grass. It had a good run back in the day before tourists killed it and everything else i had fun in the 80s and 90s, bu now it's nowhere near the same game, the same vibe, used to be actual hardcore nerds with pen, paper, and imagination.
And inclusive? Yeah, half the people i'd play with were women, or non-hetero, or non white, physically disabled, or just outcasts not represented by pop culture. All this racebaiting phobic bullshit is 'modern audience' stuff, we didn't have this back in the day, we had a comic book or hobby shop filled with people of all kinds there to do the thing because they love it, and share that with other nerds. When the player base stopped being nerds first, the game and fantasy worlds mattered less, and the players and their self inserts mattered more. The fantasy worlds got less fantastic and the characters less charismatic until the fantasy character was just the real world player bringing their real world drama and issues into it.
How about this? They all want all these fictional games to be reflections of your real life? To give an example as someone who is Coahuiltecan.The Alamo was not just a military fort like most people believe, it was a mission and settlement that help our bands tremendously. Other tribes would enslave or out right hunt our bands. Once the place was established it gave not just protection, but economic opportunities for us. It is also a burial site for many of our ancestors. It rubs me the wrong way that some of the tribes that are venerated by people, were the ones doing us harm. That our history in those matters have been washed away by a lot of people claiming the site as a center of racism. So much so that our people are not even recognized outside of those local regions. Our bands are not entitled to any benefits federally, in the end I could care less about that, there are more important things happening in my life to rage against the machine. But it saddens me that part of our history or recognition is lost. A lot of it due to people wanting to push their narratives in the broader since that they wash away a minority of a minority, like a unwanted stepping stone. It lets me know that those people don't really care, they would rather sweep those parts of history away.

Human societies are diverse enough to encourage all the alignments, while humans are numerous enough to fill them.
Ork tribes are violent war bands, so they tend towards the capricorn and evil ends of the spectrum. Orks are naturally violent, but the tendancy for evil comes from their tribal society. Outside of it, they are perfectly capable of not being evil, but they rarely do, usually being barbarian invaders.
I have a line to Robert Kuntz, one of the people closest to Gygax and someone who is responsible for much of the original works in the hobby. It would be great if you spoke to him. Get it from the horse's mouth, so to speak, as he is fighting to clear his and Gary's names of this rot.

No, in the sense it'd be dismissed. Only a few states allow estates to sue for the defamation of the dead, so jurisdiction probably makes it impossible. His estate would have to show damages (this is where most lawsuits die): they'd have to connect a loss of business to the post in question, which is nigh impossible. I have always viewed the moral alignments this way:
Lawful - Obeys the law
Chaotic - Does not obey the law
Good - is selfless
Evil - is selfish.
Therefore, a Lawful Good character who has been tasked with hunting Goblins after they have attacked a settlement would absolutely kill all of them. The Goblins attacked, committed a crime, and the response is being levied against them. The more of the Goblins that are killed, the safer the people in the society they attacked will be, both in the short and long term.
A Lawful Evil character would do it for the reward money.
A True Neutral character would kill enough only so much as there is an equilibrium between the settlers and the Goblins.
Chaotic Good would kill the Goblins because they are a threat, regardless of their actions.
Chaotic Evil would kill the Goblins for sport
...and so on.
Chaotic neutral would play both sides to their benefit.

Good man, shame it's woke as hell, there's a good deal in the game that reminds me of old bioware, but due to the stupidity of the DnD owners (and the developers changing the game at the last minute to be woke because if you looked into the early builds of the game it didnt have the woke) the game is going to age POORLY because of it.

BG3 ironically contains very little of this. It has goofy sexual fanservice, but then again, so did FR in general (hint: the Drow didn't gain their reputation for being S&M dommy mommies from this game).
For example, Astarion is vampire spawn who never really truly becomes "good" and disapproves when you help people for no benefit. He doesn't get over that.
Probably the most "good" "evil creature" is Karlach and the tieflings in general. However, "#notalltieflings" has been a running theme in the Forgotten Realms narrative for a very long time at this point. Neverwinter Nights 2, released in the late 00's, had a misunderstood tiefling companion. I believe most haters are assigning Larian the blame for woke or bleeding heart ideas that have existed in FR for decades. They would be borderline breaking canon if they depicted it otherwise.
The real solution to all this is to make a Dark Sun D&D CRPG, but WotC is desperately trying to pretend that setting doesn't exist because it is way too grim and gritty to be "adapted to modern audiences."

The big issue with Sand Creek is that the Cheyenne were under American escort and protection. They were even flying an American flag to show they were under US army protection. Shivington flagrantly violated his orders and violated a treaty. Even Congress at the time condemned the massacre, but nothing was done do to being more preoccupied with the Civil War. Incidents like Sand Creek made negotiating with other Plains Indians a much more difficult affair.
I don’t think Arch appreciates the nuances of the situation, given how Europe is dealing with a bunch of freeloading men from foreign climes and getting increasingly stern about their misbehaviour.
@matthewkrulitski8788 To be fair he probably just doesn't know the specifics of Sand Creek. I would generally agree with Arch that Plains Indians tended to be pretty brutal compared to other groups of American Indians. There was a lot of fighting and tit for tat. The Bear River Massacre was atleast preceded by the Battle of Bear River. The problem with Sand Creek is that Black Kettle and his group had put their trust in the Americans and it was completely and utterly broken. Black Kettle a prominent Cheyenne leader was a big proponent of peace with the Americans and his wife was badly wounded at Sand Creek. He pretty much lost most of his political sway with the Cheyenne after the incident and more hawkish leaders gained more influence. Which is a big reason Sand Creek was even condemned by Congress at the time. It prolonged conflict and made convincing Plains Indian to make peace and settle on the reservations even harder.

D&D combat is dreadful when played by the book, lots of rolling dice and not a lot of actual action. I will disagree on point two, session zero (asynchronous, informal) should establish story reasons for why the group is together in most cases imo. The "we all met at a tavern and decided to go on an epic journey barely knowing one anothers' names" thing always put me off. But yes, if done that way, it is essentially playing house with dice.

There is an reference to this whole situation in the Neverwinter Nights expansion "Shadows of the Undrentide" by BioWare. In which the mentor of the player and a handful of others reprimanded a paladin of Mystra for answering the hypothetical that she would in fact kill a baby goblin. This was the early 2000s. For some reason both the paladin's and the mentor's arguments stuck with me.
