В английском "свой" + существительное - это всегда my / his/ our ... Own используется по другому. Они говорят my own, your own, his own ... то есть в связке, и тогда идет смысловой акцент на слове "свой СОБСТВЕННЫЙ".

Тут привязка не к нему, а вообще о людях в целом. you работает, как сборное понятие.
