    I agree with you, the prereqs were so much more difficult than the actual nursing classes. Nursing school has been more time-consuming than anything else. If you put in the time it's doable. I work full-time and have been getting through, it's tough no doubt. But the prereqs were tougher by far.

      I completely agree! The exams in nursing school are difficult because of the way that things are worded. But when it comes to the actual material, I think chemistry is way harder than any nursing course that I have taken so far!

    Thanks for this video! I’m currently in the pre-requisite phase of an accelerated RN program and yes, they are so hard! I’ve always felt like chemistry isn’t necessary for nursing, and it must be true because my school doesn’t even require it and it’s a well-known local private nursing school that turns out some well-educated nurses each year. I have worked in a critical care unit at a level 1 trauma hospital for 2 years and every nurse I’ve worked with said Chem is good to know generally, but isn’t something they ever use as a nurse. I think it’s simply to contribute to a well-rounded education for a student, but I think it’s unnecessary to require it. If you’re going to go on to be a CRNA then yeah, chemistry becomes essential.

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! Yeah when I really think about it, I don’t think Chemistry is really necessary for a nursing degree. It doesn’t hurt to know it, but it definitely can be an obstacle or a “weed out” class for many people who make amazing nurses!

    I agree the prerequisites are harder than the nursing classes but the way they do the test questions are a struggle for me bc I haven’t figured out the trick to it. I understand everything I excel answering questions in class. It’s the tests it’s like trying to master how the test writer thinks not mastering the actual nursing or knowing your stuff. I’m type A but I’m getting ‘bullied’ bc of this. I’m not trying to psyche anyone out. I DONT WANT A BORING CLASS. I don’t talk about my personal experiences one on one unless I’m speaking to help someone. My teacher tho is trying to psyche me out. I stop asking questions and engaging bc it seems like my teacher was discouraging it. The way I behave in class is how I learn. Ppl at first thought I was competing and was mean towards me till they got to know me.

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re right, I feel like nursing questions are intentionally tricky and half the time it’s just because of the wording. You have to have a professor or some type of mentor that helps you find a strategy for answering nursing questions. There are also videos on TH-cam with this purpose.

Now I'm 42 and have spent 100 days in the hospital bc of aggressive IBD and am interested in a career change into Nursing. All said, thank you for sharing! Absolutely! My best/oldest friend is the biggest introvert I know and she is an amazing nurse! Also, there are so many things that you can do with a nursing degree besides being at the bedside. There are jobs where you can work from home, you can work in a small doctors office, you can work in an office setting in administration…
      There are countless jobs that you can do as a nurse where you do not have to be interacting with new people every day!
