Maranwe Hi Maranwe, I'm sorry that you find my comment about pushing through offending. I really didn't mean it in an offensive way. I wasn't trying to make anything offensive out of Martina's pain. But the way they handle it is an inspiration to me and I don't mean anything negative at all. Everytime I'm having a bad day I always think "what would Simon and Martina do?" They are massive role models in my life. I don't want to specify what a bad day is, or whether I have a chronic condition or not, but pain is still pain, and a bad day is still a bad day unless you turn it around, right? :) I was just trying to express my appreciation for their content in helping me realising today doesn't have to be a bad day. that sunglass story reminds me when I was in Japan with my dad. we had just bought a new digital video camera, purely for our trip. the first day, we were sitting at a bench, put the camera down and walked away. once we had realised we went back and the camera was gone. we assumed it was stolen, but we asked a local police box and it had been handed in! I just love Japan and its beautiful people.
We forgot our backpack on the Tokyo subway and it was immediately stolen even though we reported it immediately. My wife lost her passport, driver's license, camera, cash, credit cards, Burberry glasses and much more. Not so much love for Japan in this regard in our case!
You really give a lot of positive energy. Normally I do not watch YT channels like your's, but your channel is really good.
Hearing, that you have your own struggle inspires me even more. Really living life to the fullest.

A cool wtf was the portable water bath shoes! Btw I love u guys!!!!
There isn't a lot of theft in Japan. A friend of mine sat down at a bench in Asakusa and left her expensive camera and bag there and then walked away and someone saw that happen and ran after her with the bag. She got onto a train and he got on too just to giver her the bag back. Another story from that friend- she left her out-door shoes at a restaurant once and then came back like a year later and they were still there.
I watched this episode at the right time. I have a few invisible disorders, namely Tourette's, add, dyslexia and neuromuscular scoliosis. With all of that it can be difficult to work. I have a job that I love now and have had it for the past 8 months. Lately work has gotten very difficult and I've been crying a lot with all the stress. After finally being full time employed after four years of unemployment and 2 1/2 years of being only part time I was ready to throw in the towel. Your words of encouragement reminded me that I took this job to better my sons and my lives. It will be all worth it I just have to persevere through this rough patch.
When we went to Japan this time last year my boyfriend accidentally left our wheelchair bag on a bus, it had about £100 worth of stuff inside it, nothing too bad but just time consuming to replace. Our hotel rang the bus company, we collected it the next morning and nothing had been taken - only in Japan!!
I worked in a rheumatology department a while ago, and I met many people with chronic pain whose pain had taken over their life. They d lost all motivation and joy. Their families also seemed to have given up. I just wanted to say how impressed I always am that you do so many wonderful things and that you are able to get the most out of life despite your pain. I think you are both amazing (Martina for your courage, and Simon for your support). I always wondered how I would deal with such a difficult diagnosis myself.....and now I think my first step would be to watch your videos. You are truly a role model. :) ps: I know you have probably tried everything, but did you ever have physio sessions in a warm pool? It helped many of my patients in the past. I am sorry if you 've mentioned it before, I am a relatively recent subscriber.

Martina's doctor recommended physio in the pool as well. We're looking into places where she can do this, either with a specialist or on her own with a program :)
Martina! the cat bottles thingy exists in my country too! I'm from Malaysia. I used to live in this dorm and stray cats used to come in to our hallway and poop so they put rows of clear bottles with water on our hallway and magically they really did stopped! idk how idk why but they just stopped. lol

Spudgy is like my old puppy! He was deaf, toothless (his tongue stuck way out), had arthritis, a skin infection on his chest because he drooled so much, prostate cancer as well as losing his eyesight oh Copper. He used to walk into corners and not know how to back out of them so he would just lay down and fall asleep. He also ate an entire fruitcake by himself one Christmas, he was old and drunk and sugar high but that still wasn't the thing to do him in, truly a legend.

THE FREEZE FOAM FROM ETUDE HOUSE WHICH IS MARTINAS FAV STORE (cosmetics wise in Korea) and I LOVE THE FOAM BECAUSE IT ALMOST GAVE SIMONS NIPPLE A THIRD DEGREE BURN (not really) but it did get caught in his man hair.

Ps. Martina I just want to thank you (and Simon) for continuing to be so honest about your struggles with illness. As a person who also suffers from chronic pain and other maladies, it's nice to feel not so alone and I'm glad to see someone so public discussing it frankly. I also appreciate your positive message about pushing through when you can so that you don't miss out on things. I feel like I've missed out on a lot lately because I've had a particularly rough summer, but I will try and keep in mind that on the days when it's not as bad but I'm still crabby, I need to adjust my attitude so I don't miss out on wonderful experiences. That's a reminder I can always use. Thanks again and well wishes to you both.
I was wondering if you guys heard that the next olympics is going to be in Tokyo. I don't know if you were planning to stay in tokyo for that long, and obviously 4 years from now is a LONG time, but is it something you'd be interested in watching, seeing as the whole city is going to be crazy? Kind of a once in a life time chance since you're in tokyo now. Love the vid as always, wish you both the best!

I was in Takayama last year and I dropped my phone in the snow and couldn't find it anywhere. I call it, no answer, I looked all around the streets I'd been walking on...finally went to the police station and someone had handed it in. BUT NOT ANY SOMEONE, a tiny old lady who took it to the 'young folk' at the station because she couldn't figure out how to answer it when I was calling it.... >.< one of my favourite travel stories!
I love that you guys show the simple pleasures of living in Japan and how friendly old neighbors are! I live in America but you guys show all the fun little things I get to experience when I visit my family in Japan. I hope you are liking it there

I LOOOOOOOOOVE the driving culture in Japan, they bring their polite and considerate culture into this! Even other cars, driving down the same road, often pull to those side sockets to let the car BEHIND them pass if they seem to be wanting to go a little faster (but still within the speed limit). THAT is so amazing, it blew my mind!

Martina, you are such an inspiration. You too Simon. I struggle with mental illness, but I can't imagine how difficult things are with chronic pain. Your wonderful videos remind me that life is short and nothing is guaranteed. Dark days do pass or at least you can try to make them brighter. ⭐

Hmm...Ice shot cool band freeze foam- what a memorable WTF. Martina won the "Mr. Freeze game" followed by a bad pun about icy and I see. Simon got a mustache after Martina shook the can way too much. It was a super cold foam that burned Simon's eyes (like dry ice) and it hissed when you pulled it. later on, Simon got a nipple strip (luckily, there was no third degree nipple burn)
It is also very polite to pour someone's drink for them in Japan too! Here's a cute tip. if you are ever at any sort of "kai" 会, a great way to strike up a conversation is to grab one of the bottles of juice, find people who have it, and then refill their glass. It's a non-intrusive way to strike up a conversation with people. My coworkers have always given me compliments on how well I understand Japanese culture whenever I do this.

I've been a fan of your videos since a loooong time (before the EYK studio, before Martina's pink hair even) and this is the reason why i like what you do so much: your attitude. Yes, you're funny, kind, nice and original in everything you deliver in your videos or in the posts you do in social media but THAT thing you said about overcome a bad day... Both of you try to always look things in a positive light and I appreciate that so much, because I'm the exact opposite hehehe ^^U
I just wanted it to say thank you, guys... you have no idea how good it is to see that even when you might have a bad, crapy, sad day you can still try to pull yourself together and foward in any situation.

Oh i remember Martina's favorite the super fab jelly giant shoes that you fill up with water which she kept saying were supposed to use for hot water and not meant to walk in btw i love the japanese festivals i see on videos and tv i would love to experience them so thanks for sharing your experience :(

The watermelon cutter was my favourite as not only did you use the river to cool it, but when you started cutting it the other people along the river suddenly appeared and watched you fully expecting you to share the watermelon. Which you did but I just loved how the kids were watching expecting a slice of watermelon and when they got a slice they stayed there and ate it with you guys. Great moment.... inner tubing by the waterfall was great too.
I left 50,000 yen outside a hostel once in Osaka, (it was in a wallet that fell out of my bag) and it was out on the street most of the night. I got it returned to me the next morning, all the yen still inside 😮
What did you guys think about Kimchi from DragRace? xD Was there Drag Queens like her back in Korea?

Last week I went to a Japanese punk festival, and my phone fell out of my pocket.
I was at a PUNK music festival, mosh pits and all, so all hope was lost for me.
I still went up and asked the staff working at a booth if a cell phone had been turned in. They then pulled out my cell phone, and asked me to put in my pin, and all was right in the world again.
Japan is amazing.
THAT BEING SAID don't get too used to it for when you go over seas.
My French friend returned home after being in Japan for a year. Left his headphones on his chair for a minute, and they were stolen so quickly.

Martina, you're honestly a huge inspiration to me with your constant perseverance and strength! As someone with mental illnesses and a chronic illness (IBS), seeing these videos where you talk openly about your experiences really makes me feel better. Please carry on being awesome!
I'm so glad you mentioned how you forced yourself to enjoy your night even though you were not having a motivated day. My fiance and you watch you every night (Even your old videos again) and he was having a really bad week since his insomnia was acting up and he could only get four hours of sleep a night. He didn't even want to go out to celebrate his birthday because he was so tired but after hearing about how you pushed through and had fun he went out and had an amazing day in seattle and then when he got home he got a full nine hours of sleep!

Simon, I lose stuff all the time too! When I went to Japan last year, I was at Narita airport waiting to check-in for my flight to Hokkaido. I went to the bathroom and waited in the lobby first before checking in. About 5 minutes later an airport worker came running towards me and handed me my passport. I had left my freaking PASSPORT in the bathroom stall (I'm black so it's easy to tell that it was mine). If I was somewhere else in the world the chances of my getting it back would've been slim.
Oh my god the water guns!!!!!! Oh my god that was the best! I loved Martina's sword gun! And Simons was the better on!

You guys have an amazing attitude towards life that I need to emulate.
There are a few that I can remember right off the top of my head from waaaayyyy back! There was the sun visor the old korean ladies wear and the arm protectors that looked like a part of an anime costume too! Plus there was also the cheap korean water guns, the duck fans, the freeze foam, the armpit maxi pads, the watermelon cutter and the portable foot bath!

Yes! The bottles filled with water do have the potential to keep some cats away (though it doesn't work on all cats). We do this here in N. Ireland too. A cat was bothering our front garden and kept leaving it's mess in the grass so we filled a bottle of water (technically it should only be half full) and put it in the bushes and has never bothered us since!
