Before Javed Miandad became a test cricketers, I saw his batting in a first class match at Faisalabad Gymkhana ground in 1975. He scored 29 runs with 7 fours. There was a coachwaan (tangawala) standing next to me, he said one day this young fellow will be a great batsman (coachwaan said this in Punjabi). I still remember that incidence to this day, even after 45 years.

After this ordinary international debut he was left out of team for further matches.
Few months later Pakistan toured New Zealand and Australia in the beginning of 1985.
Winning captain of home series Zaheer Abbas refused to be captain for away tour perhaps he knew it would be very tough cricket at Kiwi soil. Germy Coney had publicly threatened to take revenge.
However like always Miandad was available to take this challenge. In this video Miandad is talking about this tour where Wasim was selected on his recommendations.
On this tour Wasim played under Miandad his maiden test at Eden Park. In his second test in Dunedin he stunned the world by taking 10 wickets.
Later he played in Mini world cup in Australia where under Miandad captaincy Pakistan reached in Final by beating mighty West Indians.

Both were away series.
But after coming back from Australia where Pakistan lost as usual tri-nation series Wasim created a powerful group of players who went against their captain.
And like 1982, Miandad became again victim of conspiracy.
It is dirty story.
With the blessing of Imran, Wasim was part of it. Imran wanted this because he does not want to see Miandad as a successful captain.
