    Sean probably some the best lessons I have found on TH-cam. I’m a retired NYPD Sergeant who has picked up guitar at age 57. Smaller hands but I’m practicing at least 1 hour a day or more for the last 5 months. I have Epiphone les Paul custom pro, a LTD KH602 and a Yamaha Acoustic. 5150 EVH 40w tube amp. So keep up the great work making my journey easier

      @@swordfire7771it’s never too late! Probably easy for me to say at 16 after already playing for 5 years, but honestly learning guitar is one of the best things you can do, and it feels so bloody rewarding once you start actually being able to play and put things together, you should definitely give it a go!

      my hand is also smaller than average, I picked up a smaller guitar (has fewer frets than full sized one) and it's perfect for me

      Man look these dudes make money from idiots who are desperate to play guitar is easy once you learn the basics and the with power chords you can play any song but it will take practice obviously and anyone can shred decently but what's important and what's really cool about guitar is it doesn't matter what sounds good to other people it's what sounds good to you how your playing makes you feel about it and how good it sounds

    For anyone to get anything out of this video, they'd have to know scales, the notes that make up each cord and the root notes, all the notes on the fretboard, scales, etc.. "The easiest way to start playing lead on guitar". You're a great guitar teacher...for advanced guitarists. I think what would help a lot would be if you started out your videos with a list of things you expect people to know already. And if someone knows all that already, they won't need your video.

    Good idea. Thinking in terms of 2 chords at a time helps to simplify. In a 1 4 5 progression as you move from the 1 -> 4 or 4 -> 5 or 5 to 1 focus on each pair if you know the song well. But, rely on the pentatonic or scale of the key if you are unfamiliar with the song structure.

    Here's a good thing I started doing. I'm gonna be talking about the key of A minor (or C major), but you can do this in any key you want really.
    I use just open chords for this because I personally like the sound of open chords over barre chords. They seem to be a lot louder and seem brighter. So start strumming some chords like C major, A minor, D minor, and E minor but then arpeggiate the chords by picking out individual notes. You can stop there really and you can have a lot of really cool melodies with just that. But then I like to (in A minor) use the third, fifth, eighth, and tenth frets on the high e and B strings. This is part of three positions of the minor pentatonic scale. I just like using this method because you can do the exact same thing on both strings and it makes doing double stops a lot easier.
    But use hammer ons, pull offs, slides, bends, and double stops and you can make solos very easily and very fun.

    Made excellent sense. Which, considering a year ago that content would have gone straight over my head a crashed in flames taking hordes of innocent school children with it. Something I can now use to piece all the disjointed skills I've acquired together into a single concept. Cool Bananas.
    A question: I have a looper in my Boss GT-1, and amps for my electric in various flavours and strengths, I'm presuming you are looping into an amp, would that be an acoustic amp?
    One time - at band camp - I plugged my acoustic into a normal guitar amp and was almost blasted into orbit with the feedback.

    • @seandaniel23
      @seandaniel23  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good call. I'm actually looping it into my Bose Compact. So it's a PA, which is essentially an acoustic amp.

    Light bulb... So even though the original key of that piece was G Major where C Major is one of its chords, relative minor pentatonics to both chords can be used on top of them. I thought only minor pentatonic related to the key (G Major) that would work. Many thanks!

      Yeah they're basically the 3 notes in that chord, plus the 6th note in the scale (relative to any major chord you want to use with them). So you can see it as a little piece of a scale, or as Jul said, a triad plus 1 extra note.
