Dude, this is literally history! I’ve been wanting to see the controls for so long, and here we are! And on top of that the Model 2 goes off! Awesome video, I’ve GOT to come back to CS!
Here’s some history for you. I used to live there years ago. I heard that siren many times for fire calls and a few times a year for tornado warnings. It used to sound for fire calls and medic calls almost daily. One would hear it sound and you would be able to race to the scanner to hear where the call was. They stopped doing that around 2001. Around that same time, the thunderbolt was dismantled and rebuilt due to bad solenoids. Shortly after that, the fire department changed from full-time volunteer to part-time volunteer and the fire siren two tone signal was no longer used. Roughly between 1999 and 2001, for fire calls and medic calls, the siren used to sound a high low attack wail due to the solenoids not working properly. As far back as I can, remember, they never used the attack tone, but I was told it used to be used in the 70s for air raid drills. Also, up until about 2001, you had to dial a seven digit phone number for the fire department as they did not have 911 in central Stickney. A dispatch center in Oak lawn would trigger the siren using radio tones. As for the model two, that’s probably the first time I’ve ever heard that since I was a kid. I’m 44 now. As far back as I can remember, it was used one time only after a bad storm during a tornado warning that was still active. I believe it was backed up by another power source. I’m shocked that that siren still functions. You can definitely hear the age of it having trouble starting. I knew many fine people who worked at that fire department, and still know a few. before the early 1970s, there used to be another fire station much smaller in about the same location.

The model 2 came back to life again!
The fire chief accidentally pressed the button not knowing what it was for and he still kept the siren on for me. Shout out to him!
