- Mika and Lang Lang can't believe 10-Year-Old Sum's performance of Haydn's 'Sonata in D major, No. 37' at Edinburgh Waverly Train Station.
In episode 3, 10-year-old Sum tells Claudia Winkleman that he began learning to play piano at the age of 3 or 4. Sum goes on to wows the mentors and the crowd with his amazing skill. He is very excited to meet with Lang Lang following his crowd-pleasing performance!

I don't know much about piano playing, but, to impress Lang Lang, you have to be at least extraordinary. I have admired Lang Lang for many years, but his gesture at the end, when he basically fulfilled the dream of a little piano genius, raised him enormously in my eyes. Fabulous!

This is one of the rare young musicians that can’t only play technical great but also a real master of expression - at the age of 10!!! All the best from Germany!

I think it makes it sweet for Lang Lang that the boy is a han. Chinese are very race nationalistic.
Oh my gosh. When Lang Lang met the son and the son said "I was so happy", then the father looked so proud, with a tear in his eye. This is a beautiful moment and part of the reason that I have so much respect for Lang Lang as a person.
He is a great person, i just wished he wasn't such a flamboyant, show off dry and harsh at the piano. He is so humble away from the piano but so ego centric at the piano,.

@@kwilson5832 I have a student like that. He practices 1.5-3 hours per day at his own volition. He was the one who asked to take lessons not his parents.
Agree@@PassionPno....many children actually enjoy the piano and want to progress... supportive parents are the icing on the cake... 😊
@@kwilson5832 My parents refused for me to take piano lessons and having a piano was out of question. An electric organ was the only keyboard allowed and keyboard lessons from a woman who taught keyboard and piano. I had to wait two decades to finally play on a piano and learn. So don't complain.
When I was 12 there was a chinese boy that could play like this and it demotivated me to go to conservatory ahahahahahh
There are lots of kids on u tube that are just as good as him and some are younger.

This is pretty standard playing for any 10 year old in music school or conservatory, it’s just people don’t hear them, he’s no prodigy, I am not hating or anything like that either, he’s good at piano for that age generally speaking… but it’s not exceptional playing for that age, as an example of what I’m referring to, here is a video of a 10 year old playing La Campanella pretty much flawlessly, and compared to what the kid is doing at the train station this is light years ahead in terms of technique and skill th-cam.com/video/llB9rGLv_B4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=z0NxFM05BCyXPSo2
