THAT was a tough one!! For Iam. For you. Thanks for doing this reaction. I know it was hard, but - wow! What a performance! I don't know how he and you both did as well as you did! And after losing my dad recently, it was even more emotional. Beautifully done. Yes, I noticed James Blunt touching Iam's arm, trying to help give him the strength to get through it. Music touches and speaks to the soul.💜🎶💜
I'm sure when Iam felt the full circle of emotions, losing his dad, his idol journey, and singing with James Blount in the finale, everyone in the audience wanted to rush up to the stage and give him the biggest hug. He touches you in places you may have thought invulnerable, yet his voice is like a tractor beam; you're immediately caught and mesmerized as he takes you on emotional journey after journey. It's getting to the point where you could stick a phone book or restaurant menu in front of him and he'd find a way to make you feel every word and reach for the Kleenex. A truly special soul raised by special parents Lillie and Rodney.♥
We just lost my father in law last week so I kept skipping this but so glad I watched it. Guess we needed another good cry! Thank you for playing this. I know how hard it was for you too!! ❤️
Iam isn't even close to the most talented performer the show has, but the emotion he sings with and makes you feel more than makes up for it. So I have to 100% agree this was the greatest performance on the show
That intro had me tearing up before the song even started. This whole performance is as heartbreaking as it is beautiful. They are two men on that stage who have lost their dads and the support James Blunt offers Iam is so genuine. Even though James' father survived I still believe both their fathers were on the stage that night. I hope that James and Iam continue to keep in touch through out Iam's journey. Also props to Jelly Roll for supporting Iam's mom in the audience.
My favorite part was when James Blunt came in and supported Iam so well. He changed one word that was significant. From ‘feel my hand on your own to feel my hand on your ARM’. He was talking to Iam. Great rendition and support.
Thank you so much for your reaction it just so real and raw… I also myself keep rewatching it over and over again… this is what we need in the world songs that help us heal and feel all the good memories of our loved ones that have passed
Thank you for not interupting this video. You let the continue their performances. It is really emotional and also hit me hard everytime. God bless you and Iam and James Blunt. ❤😊Peace
Lyle, thank you, that was amazing! I watched and commented on your reaction to James's original version and saw how upsetting it was for you. So, this was a nice contrast to see you reacting with still having emotion but without it being too upsetting. Personally, I prefer James's original to Iam's version but that is nothing more than personal taste; there is no right or wrong. ♥
So beautifully heartbreaking. I can’t count how many times I’ve rewatched it. Why do I do this to myself??? Just beautiful.

This is by far the best performance of American Idol history 😢❤
Yes. Just yes.
It really is. As much as I looooove Kelly clarkson... ❤❤
It might be the most real performance ever. They both struggle

What? Lol
"Feel my hand on your arm" is the original line from the song. It wasn't changed.
This performance will be remembered for a very long time. Love that young man.❤

Tears never stop when I watch this.
Every freaking time i watch this, it brings tears! I, as alot of others, lost my father in 2017. Still touches my heart 💔
Not only did James hug him for real, he kissed him on the cheek!❤ This was the best of humanity! ❤❤❤ The world needed this!!!❤❤❤
Glad you did this. Great job!
Thank you for listening to this again. It is a hard song to get through but that rendition was worth watching.
What a tribute to be able to sing that song with him. Can't watch this without getting at least getting that lump in your throat
Wow! I don’t believe you’re listening to it again! It was cool to see them together.
