- There was the time when recorded music was only available engraved on circular edgings on vinyl discs - the record. The Long Playing record is called a LP.
Most of these collections are with the collector's side. In this age of digital sound, Surja lal Mukherjee is a collector of old records. Many boxes of Indian music can be found in his house as he mentioned in the clip.

As in life so in music everything has moved in the wrong direction. A good thing can never be overshadowed. So in the worst phares of music and sound vinyl records have made a huge comeback globally. Its growing but ofcourse 78 rpm is gone but viny record will stay on and on as in the age of Atmos in films no other format has overtaken vinyl records when it comes to 2 channel audio. Yes it's a expensive hobby now and not everyone s cup of tea, coffee or whatever. Absolutely not for the ones who listen to music in u tube and yet talk about quality or clarity
