There is something about Cheng Xing Xu that is so exciting to watch, but it's hard to describe. He has a lot of charisma. He really commits to his character and is not afraid to be vulnerable for his craft, which is refreshing. I'm tired of watching more famous actors express pain and anguish using the typical silently suffering and depressed method. It's not very creative and often overdone. Chen Xing Xu is refreshingly entertaining and compelling to watch on screen

And to be honest, the role of Li Cheng Yin is not easy in general and requires a lot of different emotions displayed on screen that even some popular actors might not even be able to pull the role off well. So for Xing Xu, as a newcomer and this as his first leading role, I think he did such an awesome job. I rarely become a fan of any actors (I generally like many actors/actresses but I don't really follow their news or become a fan) but I have totally become a fan of Chen Xing Xu. He has a charming presence on-screen and I love his real life personality. He's so gentle and he takes his work so seriously. You can tell from his interviews how much he loves acting. With his mindset and talents, he'll go far if they'll give him enough opportunities.

I recently discovered CXX when I watched Goodbye My Princess, which was great and CXX really did a great job portraying the good and the evil. I look forward to watching his back catalogue.
His mindset is very mature and deep for his age, his parents did a great job raising him. :) Acting-wise, I was blown away that he was still 21 and fresh from college when they started filming GMP! His acting gives off a vibe of a veteran actor, truly impressive! By the way, I read in one of the articles that he almost was not signed for GMP because the scriptwriter thought he was not "handsome enough"? He had to re-audition and prove to the scriptwriter his worth, I was like "What the heck?!", the scriptwriter had to apologize profusely in the end. Glad he was able to take the role of GXW/LCY; he definitely gave life to the character from the book! :)
You got that feel too from watching his interviews? I also noticed that despite his innocent and childlike nature, his mindset and answers are surprisingly mature for his age. I also agree that his parents did a great job in raising him. He seems to have great manners and is so down to earth in real life. I was surprised at first that he was only 21 when they filmed GMP yet he was able to portray such a complex character like a veteran actor. But later I found out that Xing Xu had actually enrolled in his university's acting department with the highest score of his class. He is very talented and acting is his passion. This is why he was able to win the scriptwriter over with his deep understanding of Li Cheng Yin's character. He did not just act the role of LCY. I'm glad the scriptwriter changed her mind or else we might have had some handsome actor acting the role of LCY but with zero acting talents. It's rare to find a newcomer who can act like a veteran. I can't believe this was Xing Xu's first leading role. I remember when I was watching this drama for the first time I kept focusing on his acting because I noticed how good he was so I kept paying attention to his expressions, especially the eyes because he emotes very well with his eyes.

That would be a true test of character with all the fame and fortune coming his way. :) He truly is deserving to be the top of his class, he definitely has the gift of acting! :) I likewise couldn't help but focus on his acting on GMP, it just subconsciously draws your attention. Too bad he didn't win any awards for his performance in GMP, he deserved it as much as Peng Xiao Ran. I actually just knew about GMP through YT's recommendation clips 2 months ago. I'm usually the type that tries to avoid sad endings, but I have no regrets watching GMP multiple times now - the actors, the script, the costumes, the cinematography; everything about is pure masterpiece! :) Thankfully YT also recommended The Romance of Tiger and Rose to me recently, so I usually watch it as soon as I'm done with GMP. TRTR is like my antidepressant pill after watching GMP. :D lol
Me too because his down to earth and honest personality is what got me to like him so much so I hope he'll always remain humble. Oh, those awards... whenever this is mentioned I feel so mad at the results. I'm still baffled how he didn't get even a smallest award for this complex role which he delivered so well. If not for his great acting and great interpretation of LCY, this role could have easily been hated by everyone as it is not an easy role and his character is also kind of an antagonist too. Oh well, at least he gained more fans after starring in GMP so I guess it's enough to make him happy. :) You did a great decision by watching GMP or else you could have missed a masterpiece. Omg, you also watched The Romance of Tiger and Rose? I love that drama! It's so funny how everyone kept comparing Han Shuo's character to LCY and kept dissing LCY and told him to learn from Han Shuo how to treat his wife. LOL I love both characters but LCY is definitely more complex and cruel while Han Shuo is a toned down and idol romance version of LCY :P

Oh well, at least the audience and the industry have noticed his superb acting capabilities; even though he isn't managed by a big talent agency, he is still able to get projects left and right. :) I honestly think the scriptwriter of TRTR took notes of LCY's weaknesses and made sure to do the exact opposite of it. :D It's such a fun drama! Both GMP and TRTR are my happy pills at the moment. :) Do you have other dramas that you can recommend? :) We seem to have the same taste in dramas, I'm sooo glad someone can relate to my addiction! :D lol I tried recommending GMP to my family and friends, but I guess they're not that interested like I am. :(

His two upcoming dramas are "The Best of Times" and The Glory of Youth". Both are expected to air at the end of 2020. He's still filming "The Glory of Youth" but the filming should finish soon. His new movie was also just released 2 weeks ago. I'm about to post some clips of that movie on my Facebook page so if you're interested then you can check them out there. His mindset is very mature and deep for his age, his parents did a great job raising him. :) Acting-wise, I was blown away that he was still 21 and fresh from college when they started filming GMP! His acting gives off a vibe of a veteran actor, truly impressive! By the way, I read in one of the articles that he almost was not signed for GMP because the scriptwriter thought he was not "handsome enough"? He had to re-audition and prove to the scriptwriter his worth, I was like "What the heck?!", the scriptwriter had to apologize profusely in the end. Glad he was able to take the role of GXW/LCY; he definitely gave life to the character from the book! :)
You got that feel too from watching his interviews? I also noticed that despite his innocent and childlike nature, his mindset and answers are surprisingly mature for his age. I also agree that his parents did a great job in raising him. He seems to have great manners and is so down to earth in real life. I was surprised at first that he was only 21 when they filmed GMP yet he was able to portray such a complex character like a veteran actor. But later I found out that Xing Xu had actually enrolled in his university's acting department with the highest score of his class. He is very talented and acting is his passion. This is why he was able to win the scriptwriter over with his deep understanding of Li Cheng Yin's character. He did not just act the role of LCY. I'm glad the scriptwriter changed her mind or else we might have had some handsome actor acting the role of LCY but with zero acting talents. It's rare to find a newcomer who can act like a veteran. I can't believe this was Xing Xu's first leading role. I remember when I was watching this drama for the first time I kept focusing on his acting because I noticed how good he was so I kept paying attention to his expressions, especially the eyes because he emotes very well with his eyes.

He truly is deserving to be the top of his class, he definitely has the gift of acting! :) I likewise couldn't help but focus on his acting on GMP, it just subconsciously draws your attention. Too bad he didn't win any awards for his performance in GMP, he deserved it as much as Peng Xiao Ran.
I actually just knew about GMP through YT's recommendation clips 2 months ago. I'm usually the type that tries to avoid sad endings, but I have no regrets watching GMP multiple times now - the actors, the script, the costumes, the cinematography; everything about is pure masterpiece! :) Thankfully YT also recommended The Romance of Tiger and Rose to me recently, so I usually watch it as soon as I'm done with GMP. TRTR is like my antidepressant pill after watching GMP. :D lol
Me too because his down to earth and honest personality is what got me to like him so much so I hope he'll always remain humble. Oh, those awards... whenever this is mentioned I feel so mad at the results. I'm still baffled how he didn't get even a smallest award for this complex role which he delivered so well. If not for his great acting and great interpretation of LCY, this role could have easily been hated by everyone as it is not an easy role and his character is also kind of an antagonist too. Oh well, at least he gained more fans after starring in GMP so I guess it's enough to make him happy. :) You did a great decision by watching GMP or else you could have missed a masterpiece. I'm glad you ended up watching it despite hating sad endings. We've got to thank YT's recommendations. Thanks to it I also got to know about GMP in the first place. Omg, you also watched The Romance of Tiger and Rose? I love that drama! It's so funny how everyone kept comparing Han Shuo's character to LCY and kept dissing LCY and told him to learn from Han Shuo how to treat his wife. LOL I love both characters but LCY is definitely more complex and cruel while Han Shuo is a toned down and idol romance version of LCY :P

Oh well, at least the audience and the industry have noticed his superb acting capabilities; even though he isn't managed by a big talent agency, he is still able to get projects left and right. :)
I honestly think the scriptwriter of TRTR took notes of LCY's weaknesses and made sure to do the exact opposite of it. :D It's such a fun drama! Both GMP and TRTR are my happy pills at the moment. :)
