I’ll just say this, BMT and tech school are the least challenging experience you’ll ever go through in the military. I graduated BMT on July 2023 (321TRS) and recently graduated from tech school on November 28th. Whenever you look back, you realize how easy it was going through it all. BMT definitely had its fun moments that I wish I could experience again but as soon as I got to tech school, it just felt so weird that I just wished I was still in BMT again lol. But tech school end up being more fun and better eventually. The point is, enjoy it while you can because sooner or later it’s gonna be over before you even know it. Operational will soon hit you with unprecedented challenges. Don’t be afraid to volunteer for anything. It’s a training environment where you are allowed to make mistakes. It’s better to make those mistakes now while training and going to school than doing it out in the field when lives are at stake.

From an old vet, good stuff Jody. I'd also recommend today's recruits get in the habit of overtly showing respect as their enlistment date approaches. Go out of your way to say "Yes Sir, No sir" etc, BEFORE you show up for basic.

People are going to say never volunteer for chow runner but I disagree. If you volunteer for chow runner early, you will get replaced soon so you can get it out of the way. 0:47 when we told our MTIs about that they let us get like 5 minute phone calls every once in awhile apart from the 3 mandatory calls for stuff like banking. They did have coffee at our dfac. And the blankets can be either cotton or wool. It depends on your MTI and what they like, wool looks nicer on beds but creates more lint and dust. Also bring a form of payment like a credit or debit card, you might need to buy more hygiene products, pay for dry cleaning and stuff like that. Our MTIs let us go across the street to the mini mall every week or two to buy more hygiene products.

As long as you do what you are told and keep your head above the water you’ll be great. Just keep in mind you may be put in leadership roles due to your age, such as dorm chief and element leader . All in all don’t let your age be the determining factor. You gonna get through just fine.

Spot on. I graduated February 2006. We were all carrying a damn portfolio with a heavy as book (PDG) and a notepad. The TIs used to grab your shit and throw it or grab your shit and dump it. Good times. Also, unsure if it still happens but at the DFAC/ChowHall, there used to be what is called a "snake pit" or "wolf den" where all TIs sit to eat and watch you while you are walking down the aisle to your seat. If you fucked that left or right turn, they will come at you. Plates would fly, food everywhere. Fucking crazy, but funny to think about it now.

You actually can bring electric shavers to basic, but keep in mind it’s not really recommended. Because you have to keep them up to the cleanliness standard of a razor, and also you don’t have much time to charge them. I recommend bringing an electric shaver, plus the razor and see what you can handle.

Had to go back a second time about a month after my first trip because they needed to look through my medical records to see if I had mental health issues due to a nail biting habit. Finally finished everything and swore into DEP, now I'm going to be here for about a year as I complete my Senior year before I ship off to BMT. Worst part is the nervousness keeps on building and I'm not shipping off for over a year so I can't just go and get it over with. Very excited but very nervous.

They actually get treated worse. They have to see if you can take tough tough love, and fight through it. They don’t want anyone who can’t take yelling, someone criticizing them or someone who thinks it’s too hard. They create an environment which is designed to make people quit, that way they can identify them quickly and work with the people who have what it takes. It’s a big mind game. I just graduated last Friday. Airforce BMT isn't that bad. It's surprisingly easy. For anyone that's watching this video and doesn't know whether or not they want to go into the Airforce, or if you're currently in the DEP program. Stick with it, it's 100% worth it. There are times where it's going to suck and you're not gonna want to be there, or you're going to start telling yourself that you can't keep going through it. My advice to you, embrace the suck, embrace any embarrassment, embrace the hardship. You'll come out a better, stronger, more disciplined, calmer, and confident person than you were before. Every challenge there is mental, it's all in your head. Push yourself harder than you ever have before and you'll be okay. My final word of advice, do what you're told when you're told to do it and take responsibility for your actions. Things will go a lot smoother for you and your roommates if you do

Would I qualify to have that student loan debt paid off if get in? What I’d recommend is ask your recruiter can they schedule a consult for you since you don’t have health insurance. Ok got it. I never actually mastered shaving with a blade, I always broke out. I bought a whole kit for it too, like $200 worth of stuff and I still broke out. So now I use an electric razor. I actually made a video for that if you’re interested. th-cam.com/video/Ce-c8tgLR1Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gigLoccvf-kV7-AZ

Can you tell me more about the Enlisted College Loan Repayment Program (ECLRP)? I've been in for almost 2 years now and after the c-19 thing, college loan companies are expecting payments soon. Wondering can you have GI Bill with the ECLRP or is it one or the other?
