I frankly don't trust people who don't find Harry funny. And it's not the silliness and surrealism I enjoy, it's the biting sarcasm underneath. It takes a genius to play a fool, as the saying goes, and Matthew Hall is definitely no fool. Did feel bad for him though, he considered this to be one of his worst gigs. People did seem to be enjoying it though.
The reason for the detracting comments is because his comedy is extremely divisive. I find some of it difficult but I recognise his talent and he IS often very funny.
In his autobiography, Harry says how badly he felt this show went and that Tarrant didn’t laugh once all night. I can see Tarrant laughing and applauding here, so Harry was mistaken.
Very strange he thought that, although could easily be down to how it's cut post production, it definitely looked like a good show, I'm actually intrigued in checking the book out now
