    I was really hoping you would mention Hildegard von Bingen! It takes one kind of bravery to fight on a battlefield or to say something to _someone_ that they might not like. Literally calling out a majority of the upper clergy for their corruption because God told you to is a very different, underappreciated form of bravery. It wasn't an attempt to discredit the church or just lash out like a lot of people now that are just angry. On the contrary, she tried to warn Catholic leaders of her time about the scandal they were committing. She didn't even want to be as harsh as she was asked to be. But she said what she had to in an attempt to rectify some very, very wrong things that were happening.
    Also, that was really interesting about Flannery O'Conner! I want to check out her writings now. As someone that is currently trying to write something similar (albeit via high fantasy and with less humor as that is not currently a strongpoint of mine) I would really like to see how she balances everything.

      @@PaulTesta The only intercessor for prayers is Jesus, not mary. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
      Jesus is considered our High priest, for reference in the Old Testament, a high priest was the only one who was able to past through the veil to enter the Holy of Holies.
      Hebrews 4:14-16 14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

    You should've included St. Bernadette of Lourdes. Her apparition is what converted me and it is why she is my patron saint.

  • @Nurichiri
    @Nurichiri 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +27

    My Patron Saint is Elizabeth of the Trinity, a near contemporary of St. Therese. She channeled her temper as a child into getting a vocation in the nearby Carmelite convent, no matter what. Her mom tried to talk her out of it and she had suitors, but she was determined. She wrote works, most notably a prayer "Holy Trinity Whom I Adore". She died at the age of 26 to Addison's Disease.

      @@gregoryhasehe is still a friar. He has been disallowed from ministry but not kicked out. Also to be clear to anyone reading this comment, the allegations haven’t been proven as of yet and the Church is being very vague about them. He should be considered innocent until proven guilty. The Church has to be super cautious given its terrible history of dealing with these kinds of allegations.

    I think that you forgot the Blessed Virgin Mary. Since she is one of only 2 persons outside the Trinity mentioned in any of the 3 creeds and has more churches named after her than any other saint, I think she might be important, somehow.

      Do you prefer a phone call or FaceTime? Personally I think of the Statuary as FaceTime for prayer. It’s easier to focus when I have something to draw that focus. Pair that with the beauty. Artwork and artistic ability as a gift from God being used to glorify God… Statuary is Beautiful.

    I’ve never heard of Thea Bowman, I need to find her on TH-cam. My favorite on this list is Dorothy Day, I love a paraphrase I heard of her telling her bohemian friends that it wasn’t Jesus’ fault if any of the people who claim to follow him are hypocrites, she was going to dive into his teachings and follow him.
