I bought one of these guys a few months ago...let me tell you, this RDX is awesome!!! I chuckle at all the silly things the different reviewers complain about! The big knob in the centre is great! I love to "dial it up" when I'm ready to blast off! I feel like i'm in a jet fighter! Out of all the SUV's we test drove, this is the only one my wife went crazy over, and she has never had ANY interest in cars! We got the pearl black with the red seats and everyone that comes for a ride freaks out in it! We Friggin' love it!!!!
Your car reviews are hands down the best available. Thanks for these and thank you for consistently doing a great job.
I leased the 2019 RDX Tech Pkg end of March 2019 and I have to tell you, I absolutely LOVE this vehicle. I've had "zero" problems with this vehicle. It's possible that earlier buyers of this vehicle (no changes between 2019 & 2020 except additional color and slight price uptick) were guinea pigs for the new technology until the bugs were worked out; remember, the 2019 came out July, 2018. Anyhow, wow, what a vehicle. I traded in a 2016 TLX Tech Pkg for this beauty and just love it. I swore years ago I'd NEVER buy a 4-cylinder again. Well, just test-drive this SUV cross-over and you'll agree it is really peppy.....much more peppy that my 2016 6-cylinder. Put it into SPORT + mode (which I do when on freeway sometimes) & it feels even more sporty. New info system, GREAT. Took me a whopping 48 hours to get it down pat. Yes, no Android Auto yet; bummer. But, believe it or not, the NAV system is so great, that when Android Auto is available, I'm not positive I'll ever use AA as you'll have to attach a cord to do so and with the present NAV system being so great, maybe I'll not want to do use AA. The touch screen in my 2016 always had messy finger prints on it; ugh. I can't comment on AWD. I live in Southern California and several dealers told me that I didn't need AWD unless I frequently drove to the mountains......which I don't. But, some reviewers that have AWD say that they love that feature. AWD gives you a spare tire too which other modes do not have unless you get it as an option. The interior is just beautiful. I LOVE not having the gear-shift handle like my 2016 TLX. One person commented on the round dial that changes driving modes, e.g. SPORT MODE vs. COMFORT mode, etc. Who cares? Really folks, we're splitting hairs here. It is one extra dial on the center console.
I’ve had mine since Black Friday. I’m still amazed by how this drives and features. Today I learned it alerts u when a cop shoots radar at u. It’s just the little things that just keep u saying “Wow”
Evans Morales ya. It’s hilarious how they beat the law. It’s says: Warning the use of the radar may hinder certain safety features:)
Ruby Gadbul not lying at all buddy. My version is the TLC with the SH-AWD with the heads-up display. This particular feature has now kicked n Several times. It may have to do with my option factor. However lying.... No
Ruby Gadbul when it does this, it’s a Very distinctive ding it does as well as the words coming across the entire space between the speedometer and the tachometer. Also a little imoji appears of a radar gun appearing with a wave leaving it and returning to it
My first used Aruca SUV!! Good video bro.
You’re absolutely right about the wheels on the base being much nicer than on the advanced model. I own a 2021 advanced model and think that it should have come with brushed aluminum wheels, power folding mirrors with rear climate controls at a nearly 50k price point. Not optioning the AWD is the equivalent of buying the car with three wheels. The AWD is truly awesome. I’ve consistently gotten 28 mpg on long highway trips using cruise control.
You damn right it’s a home run! Best value in class
Excellent review. My only complaint is that giant center dial is a complete waste of real estate. How often we do keep changing the driving dynamics on a daily basis? That dial could have been used as an alternative to the touchpad input for the infotainment screen. The driving dynamics can be moved to a smaller dial somewhere else.
At the end of the day, who cares? It is just an extra dial. However, I do agree with you that it could be moved to a small dial somewhere else.
I think it really sets the console apart in terms of appearance, so that's a plus. Of course, some people say it looks like a washing machine haha. To each their own I guess.
I test drove the new edge ST the Acura RDX blows it away by miles I tried SH-AWD on some nice roads blew me away felt like a sports car. Great job Acura/Honda 👍🏻
The styling is Beautiful wish the back turn signals were LED since this is Honda premium brand .
The CR-V is the only Honda with LED turn signals at the back. I honestly don’t get why they don’t put LED turn signals on all vehicles with full LED headlights
George L it’s not a CRV . The new RDX is on its own platform the second gen RDX shared with the CRV 👍🏻
I have a 2019 Acura with the tech package in silver with the espresso leather seats, rides really nice, seats are very comfortable. I am really enjoying it.
Four years ago today, Still one of best SUV's.
I love your videos...you hit on every point slowly and purposefully. I wish you’d do a video on the A-SPEC model. Maybe not a full 25 plus minute one but a shorter one on the looks and differences. I feel like more people will end up getting the A-SPEC because of the look of it. I’d love to hear your commentary on how you think it looks and if the couple extra features you get in the advanced is worth it more than the looks of the A-SPEC or if the tech package which is 3000 cheaper is worth it over the looks of the A-SPEC. I just bought a 2020 A-SPEC in black with red interior and I had these same questions when I was at the dealership but I went with look over everything else because it really does make the car appear completely different...thank you for all you do and all your hard work...keep the videos coming
Congrats! Black and red is a great combination! A dedicated A-Spec video might be something we do in the future 👍
Just got my wife one of these ... she is so excited she is vibrating.. has like 25 miles on it.. after a few days.... I watched you guys so see if i can figure out some of the bells & whistles I most likely will never drive it but i am tempted to after watching your video thank you
Bought one a few months ago. The technology package, Pearl White with tan leather interior. it’s awesome. Didn’t go with the Advance Package, I have a 2017 Nissan Murano sl, Never used the 4 wheel drive nor heated seats in in the Bay Area of Cali. Walked out the door for $38.585.00 and had the rubber mats thrown in... took 10 minutes learning the touch pad. Love it... 👍🏻
Acura makes really reliable vehicles, we get them here in Trinidad as used vehicles and they usually last more than a decade.
the base model is 100% worth it. the lane keep assist and the cruise control is sooo good. i always find myself using the cruise control in traffic since it is able to accelerate and brake
Great presentation, I’m interested either in a 2019 or 20 Technology package
Great way to easily learn all the features of my RDX that I just purchased. Thank you!
Hi Drew and Mason 😄, such a sexy crossover especially the exterior color you two reviewed, reppin' wildcat nation. I never figured Lexington, KY to have rough roads. Mason, I'm so with yoi on the panamoric moonroof, I was in awe. Between the moonroof, front fascia, and key fob, those three really made the review for me. Anyhow this review was truly everything Drew and Mason. Thank you.
I agree.love the color.would go great with my wildcat license plate lol
Howdy, awesome video as always!😸😻😸
Great review car confections!! I am the dying breed that still prefers coupes or fastbacks over SUV's or crossovers but give me android auto (hopefully update comes soon) in this RDX and she will have all things and power I need to consider the switch. Fun fact from my research: 2019/2020 RDX has same smooth athletic fun to drive 10 speed transmission (detuned Civic type R) as 2018/2019 Honda Accord 2.0T but RDX is tuned for a bit more power over the Accord as shown:
POWER
Accord: 252 hp @ 6,500 RPM
RDX: 272 hp @ 6,500 RPM
TORQUE
Accord: 273 lb-ft @ 1,500 RPM
RDX: 280 lb-ft @ 1,600 RPM
Zippy fun whichever package this transmission comes in!!! 😎😍
Thanks! And yes, this is a great powertrain setup in all 3 it's applications so far!
Awesome car, only negative is that it does not come with power folding mirrors (which is surprising for a luxury car)
Another great production thanks. I was hoping you could possibly review the Genesis g70 someday would greatly appreciate
Thanks, Jimmy! We don't work with a Genesis dealer right now but we are hoping to in the near future
I really enjoyed your review. I had just come from my local Acura dealer, didn't really know much about them. I'm very interested in the RDX after seeing your review. Thank you.
It’s like the luxury brands can’t make a good rear end acura makes a beautiful front end but the rear end never seems to match the design language same with Mazda and Cadillac
Rear ends seem hard for Honda/Acura. The new Pilot's rear end made it a no go for me. I like the rear end of the 2016-2020 MDX though.
great review. very informative. will be purchasing a rdx tech sh awd today. thanks
A great value for a well balanced and nicely proportioned SUV, but that center console stack looks like it has controls from a boom box I had in the 90s. Btw...the 4K video looks fantastic!
Finnaly, an Acura that doesnt look like a more advanced Honda. Great work guys.
I wish it came with multicolor ambient lighting and a touchscreen other than that its perfect
You really don't want old-tech touch screen which my 2016 TLX Tech Pkg had. Screen always had finger prints on it. I don't work for Acura (full disclosure here) and I'm 76 years old and leased the 2019 RDX Tech Pkg end of March 2019 and want to tell you it took me & wifey all of 48 hours to get the new info system down pat. Really, works great and absolutely NO problems. If you are younger than I, you'll have it down pat in 3 hours tops and, it works GREAT.
1:56 did the dealership really put their name as a badge on the left of the RDX???!?
God, I hate when dealerships do this.. It's so tacky, i wouldn't take delivery of the car unless they took that shite off
Can’t wait for Type S
No remote start as standard equipment? Also. I wish they offered the A Spec rims and tires for the Advance trim package.
Already know from Redline Review’s vid that this is Acura’s best overall vehicle in the lineup if you’re gonna exclude the NSX. But I’m gonna give you guys this watch time 😎😎
Amiro Simai that sucks to hear my man. I’ve always kinda left Acura as an after thought but I figured if they ever made interiors that weren’t the worst in class I’d start giving them a look but this is an excellent warning to stay away 👌🏽 sorry you had to find out the hard way.
Is the infotainment system review for this ever going to come out? This is the one system I really wanted to see you guys go over and you never did :(
I love the 2020 Acura RDX! It’s very sexy and nice with a good price lol! I love the Electron a shifter
I’m thinking about ü RDX 2020 ... wish 🤗
This car is an absolute steal! In Canada, its nearly the same price as a fully loaded CR-V, but you get way more with the Acura, its very strange. I think once you get over the weird Acura Touch thing this is THE best deal for a small SUV.
Acura has done very good job
Can’t wait to get my new Rdx
@@YTgrinderr dude stfu nobody cares stop posting this 20 million times on the same video
The front exterior looks beautiful
Frontal looks awesome
Does the screen go down and up? We just got one Saturday and we’re still trying to figure everything out. Thanks again!
Car Confections so funny thing about the dealer was the car salesman didn’t know that car had an app for remote start and unlock. They sold us the extra $500 remote key to remote start.😞
@@MikeLee661 Yeah unfortunately we have found that salespeople are not always the best source of info
@@MikeLee661 he probably knew but $500 additional sale is nice for him to have eh? Thanks for the info. Much to like about the vehicle but their website acura.ca either does not have specs for each build or has made it very difficult to find. PITA
I have a 2014 RDX and I have driven the new model. All the "warnings/alarms" that they have now are annoying and compared to the 6 cylinder the turbo is lacking in acceleration.
You can disable the alarms... Change is change and you can't stop time. It was way more than enough acceleration (more torque than the gen 2 6 cyl) for an CUV in my mind..
@@Nowhy Lots to like about the car. Its a great engine in the wrong car. It's a weedeater motor that belongs in a miata or civic. While there is torque it is all at the top end, where it doesn't matter as much. There is a foot of space behind the engine. You can bet very soon a 6 hole turbo will get stuffed in. Same scheme as for the new TLX. I traded a 17 rdx advance for the 2020 advance. I like the new one..........many improvements. The cornering ability of the car is outrageous. We are talking major gforce as compared to wallowing body lean. I am guessing 0.8+ which is huge for such a car. They have stiffened up the body 10X. I suppose the variable shocks help as well.........I am not sure yet. I will learn more.
@@billb8744 I don't know about the gen2 Rdx's V6 (would never had bought it), but the Gen3 RDX is amazing and as you said, secure (they didn't stiffen it per se, more like made more rigid and so that the whole chassis "moves" away from an impact with many structural enhancement. Sorry, bad explanation, but you probably already know or can find an article about it somewhere - autobeatonline for instance.), lots of torque from the get go and then the steering... It sure ain't perfect, but I don't think there is a contender in that class (CUV) for that kind of money. If you want extras in other brands, it gets expensive really quick..
The look itself, like a teenage boys dream that lasts till he is 50 or forever in poetry.
Buen video lo explicaste bien todo me encanto este video
You showed us that it has a lower trunk storage compartment, but does it have a spare tire?
George L mine came with one not a full spare but a donut better then those fix a flat kit
@@afcgeo882 You have to admit that Marc's joke was pretty funny lol. Yes, All trims get a spare tire (besides the A-Spec trim for some reason)
Acura fwd...good or bad??
Can’t wait for the 2022 mid-generation refresh to come out! That’s when I will bite! It will be my very first CUV!
Hello... do you feel a small jerk whenever the gear changes?
I have the 2019 rdx and i am able to notice a minor jerk whenever the gears change..... do you feel the same?
Ooooo I now like Acura!! Because the RDX is still the best😍😍😆😆 (great review)
how does the back seat feel? as someone whose almost 6'1 my nissan rogue makes me feel a little cramped when i get in the back seat.
I see more of this now in the street than Lexus here in NJ.
Limit Break not in my town. I still don’t see very many New RDX’s on the road around here. But I will note something that I saw today that I thought was a bit unusual. I’ve seen five Mazda CX-9’s in one day, today. And that’s the current body style too!
I always see Teslas, today I saw a Ferrari as well. And I don't even live in a rich area!
Acura is back!!
IN the beginning of the video, the daytime running light is flashing like a police cruiser. How do you do that? I just got a 2020 RDX and need to figure out how to do that. Appreciate any tips.
That's just an effect caused by the cameras frame rate. Unfortunately, it's not actually happening in real life
Hi I’m looking for a car which can save gas the most. Could you recommend me which model? Thanks
I wish it had a gear shifter instead of a knob. I would buy one if it had the gear shifter.
That is a killer criteria? Well, it's not a perfect car, but what tools are perfect anyway? Perfection is for humans, not technology... There is a saying: "perfection is the enemy of good."
Lol the reason why I’m watching this video is because Momo(Are Grandmother because people up north call there moms moms grandma lol). My momo was looking at this particular trim because she’s looking to buy and Acura RDX very nice review I’m going to tell her do she like this color combination because it is gorgeous even those wheels look better than the Advance trim I believe.
WHERE ARE THE POWER FOLDING SIDE MIRRORS? and HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO REPLACE SIDE MIRROR WHEN DAMAGED BIKE bikes in all the new bike lanes?
This RDX Tech is about $10k more than a CR-V EX-L, Subaru Forester Limited or Rav4 XLE. It seems to be worth the $10k more but is it a better car?
Better in what way? To get from A to B? I guess not, all else is luxory - heck even a car is luxory, except if one needs one for work because there is no other way with public transportation. Well, and then there are also bikes...
Surprisingly they don't have 12v outlet in the cargo area
Hamid Ghazi true even my 02 crv has it lol which i use to charge my jumper pack
Love my Aspec but I'm upset that there's still no Android Auto and no wireless charging pad
Omg that is so not cool. Acura, i demand my money back. i dont wanna image that there is a wireless charging pad, and that there is an android auto. 😠😡 UGH IT NOT FAIR!!!
We just did a 2nd test drive in the 2020 RDX Advance model, and had to eliminate it for the following reasons: 1 - If one of the drivers is 5'4" or less, then do not expect to be able to use the arm rest as the side bolster blocks their arm. Sliding the arm rest forward does nothing to help that and covers the rear-most cup holder so only ONE of you can use the cup holder. 2- You can disable the auto stop/start, but if you leave it enabled, then expect a large CLUNK that feels like someone rear-ended your car when you start from a dead stop. 3- We did not like the center stack controls as a simple gear-shift would be better IMO, and eliminate the huge knob/dial. 4- I think it might can use REGULAR gas, but I think it recommends at least 91 octane.
Beautiful SUV exterior and interior, very easy to drive, but simply does not fit my family. I thought we had found the right SUV, but we continue our search. I give Acura a C+, but I want B+ or better, and the RDX failed to make the cut.
Okay - update. We've discussed the Acura and are going to give it another try. We can turn off the Auto Start/Stop feature each time we drive it, so we don't get the CLUNK that we hate. We can just not use the arm rest in the forward position when we're using the rear cup holder. We can deal with the large knob in the center stack. All of our issues are easy to resolve, so we'll re-test it soon. Maybe we did find the right car after all. I hope Acura reads some of these comments and makes a few adjustments to their very fine SUV.
@@StreakingTiger very mature that you reconsidered it. I hope you will enjoy it, even if isn't perfect for your family.
they were working on android auto on last years model & still we promise you an update
Nice looking, good value for your money, put off a little by the enormous "A" brand symbol in the front grill.
Who else hates fake dealership emblems?
I could not agree with you more.....every new vehicle that I purchase including my work truck I get it written into the contract. No dealer emblems including the license plate or I walk away with my money back.
Those tacky stick on dust / lint collectors look vile.
I would require the dealership to remove their logos before I give them any money. Thankfully no dealerships around me do that
I do; just remove the license plate holder and buy one on Amazon with no advertising like I did on my 2019 RDX.
I m so close to buy this rdx . Could u please let me know do I need premium gas or regular gas?? Although I heard from different resources they have recommenced premium only . But u said it can take either premium or regular. If I use regular gas would I compromise on anything like performance or longevity of this car ????
Please and thanks ...
Hello. Acura says that either regular or premium is acceptable. All the numbers and how/torque testing was done with regular fuel (as far as what I've read) meaning that it will operate as intended fully on regular. Hope this helps!
My jury (me) is still out on this! Had a TL type S; then a TLX; got much better mileage with premium gas, as recommended. Not so with my RDX. Seems to get better mileage with regular gas with no obvious performance loss. I’ve only had mine sine mid-February so cannot comment as to longevity. Wish you the best!
Any difference between 2019 and 2020 models other than the step up in price?
That's correct, a small price increase and new shade of white replaces the previous one. Thanks for watching!
152nd view, 15th like and 8 comment!! I the rear end and this vehicle in particular.
Has anyone experience break squeaking on a cold start? Seems like a common issue. I have the RDX 2020 and the squeaking is so ANNOYING. Started around the 1K mile mark. Took it into the dealer twice and they weren't able to get rid of the noise. Said if enough customers complain that Acura may issue a recall or a way to fix it. Ugh.
On acurazine there are posts with ways of fixing it. It's an issue with some of the RDX, yes.. Can be fixed tho..
EVERYBODY LISTEN UP!
Everybody get the advance trim and get the aspec wheels
I have the Tech Pkg 2019 and didn't want to pay an extra $5,000 for Advanced Pkg but I have to admit, I would like the Advance Trim, especially since it has the HUD which I think I would love. Now, the 20" wheels on A-Spec, I don't know about. Some people on some forums say the 19" wheels ride better, whatever that means.
I heard problems with infotainment system and stilll no Android auto. Is that stilll true
Great vehicle. Its a shame Consumer Reports gave it a below average reliability ranking. All the previous rdx have average reliability rating.
@@YTgrinderr remote start is a huge problem? Really? I mean, reeeeaaaaallly? It's an option btw..
The MDX could really learn a thing or two from this. The interior and exterior are a lot more modern. Also it uses the fantastic 10 speed instead of the choppy ZF 9 speed
I saw on Edmunds that some Acura RDX have problems with this 10 speed transmission.
Purple Giraffe that’s what I mean. I’m hoping the next MDX follows the RDX’s lead
can you guys please review the new 2020 ford explorer when it comes to dealers
Is carplay in the base?
Apple Car Play is available, but like most of the other “tech” on the RDX, it is fraught with problems. The most annoying problem is that it keeps dropping out. Acura has pushed out a couple of software updates to address the Car Play issues, but without much success.
i heard 2019 RDX has issues , i am trying to buy 2020 RDX, anyone faced any issues with 2020RDX
When hitting break, you will hear squeeze sound. Other than that, I would give 9/10 overall.
Do the side mirrors fold in when you lock the car?
No it doesn’t. I have the 2019 Advance edition. I was quite disappointed it doesn’t have this feature.
Francis Agbayani it’s the little things that make it or break it. My sorento has better features than the Acura. Especially the lift gate, no waving a foot under the trunk, I just have to stand in front of the trunk and it opens automatically (or I can use my key or open and close it from inside the car). Wish these car manufacturers would design with a woman in mind,
CONSOLETHUMBS - I don’t think these small features are trademarks, I’ve had other cars with folding mirrors.
Hi, can i have the price?
It’s only the tail light shape I don’t like
OK, why did I just found this car?
I was set on buying a Subaru 2020 Outback but now this other japanese car is giving me troubles... I don't care about CVT or manual. Can somebody help me out that is into cars? Thanks
(When it comes to looks, I really dig the front of the Rdx but the rest +- is in favor of the 2020 outback.)
RDX is more luxurious if you care about luxery. Also more pricey too so be aware of that
@@Encyledus I care a lot about the soundsystem. I am not sure about the outback if it has karmon speakers, I think the onyx version has them... I think the price is around the same and the Volvo would be even more expensive - gonna check the prices right now...
@@Encyledus wow the outback is way less expansive in the US. Where I am at the Rdx is not much more, depending on the trim..
Why did they get rid of the tune dial smh
I only buy 6 cyl. these days.
Very helpful! Just bought a certified preowned and I'm loving it ❤❤❤
