    Your perspective is very refreshing. I have both the blue and green dial. My coworker let me have his at a great price. The MM200 is definitely a solid construction compared to the 62mas. But for what they both offer, the MM200 really does bring more to the table. You just feel like you’re getting more for your money!

    • @canonyeo4286
      @canonyeo4286 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They could be tungsten carbide coating as they cost more. Just guessing 😅. Anyway, the Cermet bezel insert used on some of the LX divers is another admirable innovation.

    I own a Submariner, (nutty price these days. I wouldn't even consider one now), a Speedmaster and a number of other high end divers and watches...but took possession of one of these just last week.
    So, I'd say this... If you are thinking of buying one of these because your budget doesn't hit the upper end or because you just think it is a great looking watch that totally fits the bill and are looking for something of real quality but without going crazy...then this is the watch for you. It looks super smart, has real wrist presence and a feeling of real quality. The green face looks the absolute biz ;) Looks even better 'in person' than on screen. Totally recommended fellas!

      At 58 and having had, a few Seiko Divers including the original 150m, Diver, now the (SPB207j & varients) I can only say this. I have had the cash to blow on a Rolex in the past and present , never bothered and put the funds into my favourite charity the HSI. If I see another pompous desk diving Boomer Git with their Rolex I'll scream from my dive pontoon like Albert Finney in movie "Network". I'm not even sure that Rolexes are better resale-wise. Not too many Rolexes are worth two or three - or even ten - times their original street price within a few years of being discontinued. But that's the situation for a number of Seiko cult classics.
      Just to go off of some watches in my collection: I have an SNK807 (2nd gen black monster) which I bought new on Amazon for $150; now it's probably worth $450 used. Also have an SKXA35 (US market yellow dial SKX), which I bought for about $280 from my local dealer, now that's worth about $600
      And I have an SNKM95 (red dial Amazon exclusive SNK), $50 from Amazon, which had been selling on eBay for a crazy $500-ish lately (though I haven't seen any for a few months). Not ever Seiko goes like that - certainly not watches as popular as the SKX007 - but it does happen to a fair number of the more limited or exclusive entry to mid-range models.

    Very balanced assessment. Watches are now an item of jewellery as for most people their mobile phone tells the time and more accurately. So for reasonable timing keeping and looking the part you can’t get much better than this Seiko. I had 2 Rolex watches over the years and they kept lousy time. Mind you I wish I had them now as I could pay off my mortgage:) Crazy 😜

    I have Rolex, Seiko and some Chinese homages of both. I can see the difference in the quality from top to bottom. The question you ask is one I go back and forth on - is there really thousands of dollars difference in function, finish and on the wrist? No, the only real difference I can see is resale value and that only comes into play if resale is an option.

You have to pinch down hard to get a grip and it's slippy... And the bezzle action is just so... Unsatisfying... It almost feels like it's more klicks than 120, and it feels as if you spin a hard plastic bezzle... Other than that, the finish and quality on this watch is outstandning! I love MM300 for its heft and presence (oh the ingot case) but it's really heavy and won't fit long sleeves/cuffs well. If you have MM300 money I recommend looking at LX's they are even better (spring drive) and lighter (Titanium) and even better Zaratsu finishing.

    I really believe the SKX007 is the best dive watch Seiko has ever created and if one must, you can go sapphire and NH-36. No.2 is the Seiko Tuna 300m quartz.
    My opinion.
    P.S. the original Marine Master has more presence than this watch. Problem with the MM is its height, CG and chunkiness...still a watch with more wrist presence than the SPB207.

    No doubt the MM200 is nice, but the MM300 is better! If your diving you get an extra 100m! I don’t dive in the ocean but I still
    Went ahead and got the MM300 140 anniversary LE. Gorgeous Seiko watch! Oh one thing about this watch, it’s also a Lume torch! 💯👍

      Good point. Seiko is so bad at alignment, I have a number that are aligned up top but not on the bottom. How is that even possible with a circular watch? They obviously didn't bring the bezels or chapter rings properly. Truly, they are the worst at bezel alignment, but it's an easy fix, and I love all my Seiko divers so much that I put up with their pitiful quality control.

    A beautiful watch for sure, and one that I'd consider seriously if Seiko would step up and put in a decent movement. The 6R35 is so rudimentary compared to all of its Swiss competitors, that Seiko should be embarrassed to charge the prices it does for any watches using it. This watch should be priced similarly, or even a few hundred more, but the 8L35 should be inside. Considering plenty of Swiss manufacturers are charging less than half the price for ETA's 2824 or an SW200, both running at 28,800 with much nicer finishing and wholly improved accuracy, means that Seiko no longer offers anywhere near the same value proposition. Still, I want this watch. It's gorgeous. The dial is fabulous. Seiko's history is envious, even outshining most Swiss brands in this category, so I understand why Seiko fans are spending too much on what is a substandard timepiece. On that note, I might be willing to upgrade to the 300M if it wasn't so much larger (this one already right on the edge considering my identically sized 6.5-inch wrist), thanks to its 8L movement, case finishing, etc, but I wouldn't touch a 6R at this price, especially considering you can purchase extremely well made King Turtles/Samurais with the 4R in the $300 range, and it's basically the same movement with many of the upgrades offered here (the improved bezel is pretty cool though). That's my rant, I hope you don't mind. I'll be hitting up my AD to try both 200m and 300m on (they have them in stock), and might pull the trigger on the 300m if it fits. Your coverage of the watch and others is excellent. Thanks for the review!

      Yes, exactly. So tired of "marketing" Videos void of any marine points of interest. I have used Seikos for Snorkel, and limited short dives, a long while ago Let's compare oils. with oils. The bigger version of this model with spring ratchet clasp and the 300m, that's around 15.5psi is a DIVERS watch. That being said I do have a SPB143j ~6R35 as a daily beater and love this SPB207j piece also so I'm getting it, just for the memories, 1965 & 1968~71. One point, the 6R35 ~70hr movement is OK but must be worn about 8hs a day or you may get minor loss, around 3 minutes per month. This is no deal breaker as cranking it around 30 (thumb/index turns) on the monthly correction along with the 4~5 date changes a year needed will get you back in sync with the universe. In summery it's a pretty good unpretentious tool watch, (Japan assembled /QC) with ok value for the spend. Cheers John Brisbane, Australia.
