    Hello Nora,
    Enjoy your videos! As a retired airline employee, please allow me to make a suggestion for footwear when flying. I worked at MSP, where it is winter for roughly seven months of the year. I lost count of the number of people I saw wearing flip-flops, or sandals. In the unlikely event that you have to evacuate the aircraft in a hurry, at the gate, upon landing, or take-off roll, and you're wearing flip-flops, your feet will be hamburger by the time you get to the ground. In addition, who wants to stand on a frozen runway, taxiway, or ramp in sandals when it's 3 degrees, with 18 below wind chill?
    I'm a "safety" guy, so you'll forgive me erring on the side of caution! 😉 (This obviously applies in warm weather, because the people following you out the emergency exit, won't care that you're missing one of your slippers!) All the best...Mark

      Along with bedroom slippers which are weirdly becoming quite common as regular shoes which I find both odd and disturbing, I find flip flops being worn to many places where they're not really suitable or appropriate, flights in cold climates being a case in point. But, in a world where Casual Fridays now lasts through Thursday, what can you do? 😁

    I have been debating about Vivaias, thinking they look promising, but I much prefer being able to see a brand in person in an actual shop. However…the other day I was surfing through some recent Coronation photos and came across a photo of Princess Anne at a post-Coronation garden party at Buckingham Palace. Something about her shoes caught my eye, and when I zoomed in I saw they were Vivaia cream chunky heel round toe. For absolute sure - the “V” is plainly visible on the side. Now, this is a lady who doesn’t put up with rubbish, and who could afford any flash brand she liked. Good enough for me - I ordered a pair right away.

      @@NoraDunn The shoes arrived a few days ago - remarkably quick shipping from China to Australia. I ordered the black sling-backs - they come with pointed toes which I would have preferred to avoid, but I thought sling-backs might have a little wriggle room for fit. Well, I love them. They are the first heels I have had on my feet since I fled the corporate world many years ago and swore I would never wear ‘corporate’ again. I wasn’t even sure I could still walk in heels after all this time but I found them quite wearable and have been walking around quite comfortably. I won’t be wearing them often, but I’m planning a cruise which will have formal nights, and find myself actually looking forward to dressing up for dinner with a bit of bling and sparkle. Anyway, I like them enough that I will be ordering more - a round toe chunky heel, and some flats, at least.

    From the first glance, that turned-up toe on the pink shoes shouted Elf. And I wear snip-toed pointed cowboy boots all the time (called 'roach killers' because you can reach the corners of a room LOL)! I'm glad these shoes work for you and they're definitely packable, but years of hiking and a few bouts of plantar faciitis mean I only wear high-quality, supportive shoes with very good arch support. I'd be hobbling in those within hours.

    • @NoraDunn
      @NoraDunn  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I used to have terrible plantar faciitis, and it was actually zero drop "barefoot" hiking shoes (with no arch support) that fixed them! Vivaia has more arch support than zero drop shoes by far, but perhaps not enough for your liking.

    I have a pair of the Tamia 2.0 almond toe Walkers in black and the Aria 5.0 in almond. I've had them both for awhile and have taken them everywhere I've been traveling. I wear a US 9 or EU 40. They both fit great from the start with no break in time. I love how versatile they are and lightweight. I REALLY love how they don't get stinky. I've got feet that just get nasty after walking around all day. I did bring a pair of white Adidas gand crews along as well, mostly for colder or wet days. (Wore those on the plane) Carryon only for just under 3 months.
    *** They have these pointed toe mules with a bow called Yaffa that have been living in the shopping cart for awhile, I should suck up and go get them. 😊 I think they are just beyond cute. ❤
    Or another pair of the Tamia 2.0 or Aria in red. I just need some red flats 😂. Ok, yeah, then there are the black with white polka dots and a big redwrap bow.... Ok, yeah, I need to stop!
    I've been really pleased with them. The Tamia walkers are probably my favorite just for the extra support for all day schlepping, but they're a bit kinder to my high arches than the regular ones. Hmmm, maybe red Aria walkers?😂
    I haven't gotten any marks on the light ones, wouldn't notice it on the black ones. When they do show their age, I'm sure it will be on the inside center, that's where it shows on other shoes.

    I've sworn by boat shoes for decades, for both flights and walking around. Super comfortable, easy to slip on and off, last a long time, can be worn barefoot or with thin socks (the latter a must for flights if I decide to take them off as I usually do), don't get too smelly (so he says), and look reasonably nice. Not the height of fashion, of course, but I've never been into that anyway and lack the eye for it.
    Except for when it's really cold and snowy or icy, they're kind of an all-around shoe for me. I'm flat fairly footed and don't need arch support, and they have soft soles, so no fatigue for me. With a pair of sandals for warmer weather, running shoes for, well, running, slippers for hotel rooms, and rubber slides for hotel showers, I'm all set. Sounds like a lot but it's not that bad.

    I just ordered the basic v cut in ivory. They were on sale for $79. We’re heading to Europe in April and hope to bring these along if they work out.
    One pet peeve I have with so many companies, and this one is no exception, is they offer free shipping IF you spend over a certain amount, and of course that amount just happens to be a couple of dollars more than most of their products. A lot of their shoes are $97, but to qualify for free shipping you need to spend $99. It’s an obvious way to squeeze more $ out of the buyer and I find that annoying at best.
    With that said, I’m looking forward to receiving these shoes. I like that they have a v in the front, which I think elongates, rather than chops up, your legs.

    I’ll be thinking twice about flat pointed toes - don’t like the way the toes pointed up!! Perhaps more of a heel might change the dynamic of the shoes and how they are worn?

    • @NoraDunn
      @NoraDunn  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're not a fan of the pointed toes (and I wasn't either, until I got them and got SO many compliments on them), Vivaia has rounded toes, square toes, and more. They also have some really smart-looking heeled shoes. I got the Melissa Perforated Heeled boots (since making this video) and I can't ever wear them without being stopped by at least one person to tell me how much they love my shoes.

    I have the Aria 5 for wide feet in black and they were a bit too wide for me. Plus, it seems they open on the sides when walking and I noticed that in your video too. A month or so later my feet swelled a bit (from pregnancy) and now they fit perfectly fine. I'm taking them with me on my London trip next week. I just don't recommend wearing them while standing (not walking) for 3 hrs...too flat, not comfy. It will be rainy in London so I'm excited to test their waterproof qualities.

    I keep hearing how comfortable these are. I may need to try them when I need knew shoes.
    Just a note about shoes from plastic bottles, they cannot be recycled. So items made from bottles will eventually end up in a landfill.

    • @NoraDunn
      @NoraDunn  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are amazingly comfortable! Regarding the recycling, I think it's about giving plastic bottles a second life rather than creating a recyclable product. Most shoes aren't recyclable to begin with, so if they at least can be made from recycled materials, I think it's a win.

    These are so cute. That is sad about the marks on the heel from them dragging on the ground. Definitely sounds like a design flaw to me. I always keep the thin no show foot liners to wear with shoes like this. i'm from the US and we call them PEDS. I don't know what they're called in other countries but I'm sure they have them. I would pick other shoes for days when you're flying and pack these. You want something with a thicker sole just in case you're ever in an emergency evacuation.

    Hi Nora, I've only recently come across your videos. I wear skechers instead of running shoes for walking, everyday life and they have come with me on my travels. They are very comfy, but obviously don't look as smart as Vivaia. How would you rate the softness of soles of Vivaia compared to skechers?

    • @NoraDunn
      @NoraDunn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! Sketchers are ultralight and memory-foam based, so lovely to walk on. I Vivaia isn't quite as cushion-y (the only pair of Sketchers I owned had very thick memory foam insoles).
      I personally think Vivaia is ridiculously comfy. I am currently on a 3-month carry-on only trip through Europe with the Aria5 shoes. I wear them ALL the time. I even wore them hiking the other day! Hiking!!
      If you want a bit extra support/padding, they just came out with the Cloudwalker which might be the best comparison to Sketchers: vivaia.sjv.io/k0WMon

    • @NoraDunn
      @NoraDunn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ooh - the snow is a curve ball, especially if you're going to a warm destination where you only need flip flops / sandals! I guess you're stuck with some kind of warm shoe that can cope with snow/slush/salt/etc....Vivaia has winter-worthy shoes, if you're interested in going that route. Won't do you much good on your trip, but will be good for the before and after....

Also for the pointed ones, the point also gets like a crease that does not go away. Also, I know people that don't find them comfortable and others that wanting to contact the company to change size or other issue never got a response. They also false adviertise sales that then are different once you access the website. OVERALL: these shoes are not woth the money and the company sucks (not to mention gree wash)
