Plus Druddigon’s one of the few Dragon-types that can work under Trick Room, so it’s especially unique. People seriously underestimate the power of Trick Room. It helps a myriad of different Pokémon shine in battle who have amazing potential but are held back by terrible speed. If you wanted Druddigon to work in competitive play, I consider looking into Trick Room.
I love the part when he says "It's Castformin' time!" and the he castforms all the rival ream. Maybe the real Castform was the friends we made along the way.
This just gave me an idea, imagine unique held items for Castform that would summon weather upon entry into battle and would boost its stats a bit, like a Rain Doll, Hail Doll, Sun Doll (and Sand Doll?), I wonder if it would become even slightly more viable lol
Honestly no. Weather setters are better. They honestly have the benefit of having items. If castform had different stats depending on it's forms it would have been bette. A better stat spread would have done it justice.
In Radical Red if Castform holds the appropriate weather rock and uses weather ball, it counts as both weather being set up and an attack which will change type. Castform has also received a buff all round to its base stats.
Pokemon Rejuvenation does something interesting with a system called crests (held items that help different pokemon). There is a Castform crest that assists it pretty well imo!

Preach. People always suggest new Castform forms without ever grasping the entire running theme behind the three existing forms. It always "there's no water in sun form" as though that somehow justified their sandstorm form idea.
The only way they will ever make castform useful is to evolve it. Greatly boost all its stats(except attack) would be helpful, make it work for all weather and/or get a boost in weather.
Other than getting a freaking sand form, adding a "tornado" weather effect with a tornado Castform would be fun. Something on the order of making all Pokemon levitate on the field, and take fall damage after they attack perhaps?
6:52 the first time I watched this I actually thought he was serious there (since the likes of Parasect and Araiados of all things had their niche in DPP Ubers)
I always thought Castform needed an evolved form. Something in the 600 range stat spread. With different forms having different stat spreads bringing a strategic element into using this pokemon with a held item and move being used to give it a preferred form such as a Sunny Day setup giving it a special attack form with higher speed, but a Hail setup giving it special attack and a boost to defenses at the cost of speed something like that. When it switches forms it takes those now base 100 stats around a bit. Dropping some to 80 (still better than current cast form) but boosting other stats to 120. Imagine a lightning form cast form with a base 120 speed, 120 special attack and 120 special defense it wouldn't be the strongest but it would be hella viable especially with a unique move something like "Weather Cascade" that allows it to use a move based on its current form. Same type as the current form for STAB, having base attack power similar to things like Thunderbolt/Thundr, Flamethrower, Ice Beam, etc with the 30% chance for status effect. Might not make it one of the best but hell it would be fun to use.
Honestly, and this is the funny thing- 88 in everything before Forecast is involved (528 BST, just barely above Venusaur) would've been enough. All different weathers take a significant amount from the physical attack- it's not like the movepool supports physical sweeping anyway- and one other appropriate stat, turning Castform into a a role that fits the weather. Fast Special sweeper, wall, tanky Special attacker, speedy support mon . . .
When I played Emerald for the first time, I used it on my team, and I remember being sad that it was sort of hard to use. But a few years later I found a rom hack of Pokémon Emerald that basically modernized the mechanics, including reusable TMs, and Castform was one of my best team members since it had coverage for EVERYTHING. That's when my love for Castform grew by a lot.
I wish castform got an eeveelike evolution method. Level it up with high friendship in a natural weather, and it evolves into a pokemon that's half flying, half the weather type of the weather (fire, water, ice or ground). Two of the stat's are boosted to a base 100, while two are put to base 80 and then two at 60, and they have the associated weather ability
The reason Castform doesn't have a Sandy Form is because sandstorm has nothing to do with the water cycle. Sunny Form represents water vapor, which is water evaporated by the sun, Rainy Form represents rain, and Snowy Form represents snow and hail. Sandstorms are basically when strong winds blows dry sand into the air, making it completely unrelated to the water cycle, and since Castform is supposed to be based on a water molecule, it makes no sense for it to have a Sandy Form. It makes more sense for Castform to have a fairy-type Foggy Form that activates during Misty Terrain, since mist and fog are essentially low-flying clouds, or even a electric-water-type Stormy Form that occurs only when both Electric Terrain and rain occur, since thunderstorms occur when the rain and ice in a cloud create an electrical buildup. To add onto Castform's Forecast, you could make it so that when it's in Foggy Form, Weather Ball becomes fairy-type and gains doubled damage it gets in weather, while when its in Stormy Form, Weather Ball becomes electric-type.
Here's an interesting idea, but I think Castform would be ok if it got a +15 base stat in every stat, as well as making the weather change whenever it uses a Fire, Water, or Ice type move. That way it would be super cool as a weather changer and ability, as well as not being as squishy.
Actually, even without the stat boost, this would really improve Castform. It would allow it more move slots, and more coverage, while retaining it's gimmick.
Castform, being a manmade Pokemon, should have gotten an evolution. What I don't like Pokemon doing is creating all these new evolution items and not using them for older Pokemon.
I’m on board with a sandstorm Castform, but regarding not having one because it’s a water molecule: I think it’s because as a water molecule it represents the water cycle and the sun part would represent evaporation. Sandstorm, again while I’m happy to have it be a form, doesn’t fit that specific motif.
They should make it so that you can change castform's ability between drizzle, drought and snow warning. It's stats will still be garbage but I can see a lot of mind games being played with team preview
Perhaps Castform could change form outside of battle and remain in said form while holding Heat, Damp, Smooth, or Icy Rocks and holding any of these Rocks gives Castform immunity to Sand or Hail regardless of which form its in. This also causes Forecast to change to Drought, Drizzle, Snow Warning, or Sand Stream while holding the respective Rock. Additionally, each form has its own stat spread. If hit by Knock Off or any other move that removes an item, Castform would be subject to whatever weather changes occur next.
Atleast in Lockstin's fangame Castform is getting 'some love'.And by 'some love' I mean alot of new forms, maybe buffed stats and the whole game relies on weather soooo.... Castform Happi :D
If Forecast forms causes Castform to have different stat spread, it will be so GREAT: - Sunny form: 70-50-50-110-50-90 (for solar beam and fire weather ball) - Rainy form: 70-50-90-70-90-50 (defensive strategy with thunder and hurricane) - Snow form: 70-50-50-90-50-110 (a speedy hail-blizzard strategy) And as bonus: - Sand form: 70-50-90-50-70-90 (slightly faster defensive strategy with sand tomb).
I loved when Castform got some appreciation in the Alola games, as a support of Totem Lurantis. It was perfect: Sunny Day, Weather Ball, Water Gun and Headbutt. Synergy with Lurantis' sun-boosted Solar Blade and Synthesis, various coverage and a flinching move :D
The acid rain phenomenon that occurs within Pokémon Platinum is insane. Imagine not saving for an extending period of time and being stuck in this perpetual loop of castform and it’s sun and rain forms 😮💨. It’s frightening 😱
I thought of a more creative one(although much less easy) Bring in a Pokémon with less than 25% health with a custap berry… Then be lucky and hit it with fissure

How to make Castform good Give it a hidden ability called Combine Combine: If castform has more special than physical moves, combine adds castforms physical attack to its special attack making it 140. If the target has higher special then physical attack, then castforms special defence goes from 70 to 140
Your videos give me a boost of positive energy in my day. I've been down for awhile, so watching these brings me out of it, even if it's just for just a bit. Thanks for all that you do.
Hot and sunny weather is related to water molecules. If it is that hot, there's a lack of them. The amount of sand in the air however doesn't impact the state of water
I have a idea for a evolution of castform that is that whenever it reaches a specific level in a particular form it evolves into that type so castform hail form will evolve into a ice type its base stat total becomes 465 it's defences drop to 50 and it's speed bumps up to 105 and it's special attack bumps upto 120
HAIL YEAH I'm coming back to this channel after months, turns out the subscription was still active, just no notifications. Glad to see hail yeah still exists
Yesterday I rewatched his how good was sceptile reaction and I sear to god I thought he had already done a reaction to the castform one but hey now it exists
I'm pretty sure castforms forms are based on the water cycle, the water being precipitation, the hail being if/when the water freezes in the clouds (?), And the sun being evaporation.
The reason why there isn't and will never be a sandstorm form is that as said before, sandstorm isn't part of the water cycle. The reason the sun form exists is because the sun evaporates water. (I'm not trying to be rude to Mikey)
Idea for a regional variant for cacture: he’s a jack o lantern scarecrow who’s a fire grass type with an ability that makes it a ghost type that is only week to dark types and super effective against physic types and it would be a fast special Pokemon with bad bulk. I would use it because cacture is underrated
As someone who once beat Ultra Moon with a Single Castform let me say this, even being level 80 (20 levels higher) with EV investments I still needed good luck to be Ultra Nekrozma. It was funny and I did it buuuuuuut Castform’s stats really need buffing. Seriously Even at level 100 I still had to use careful planning and some luck. But yes Castform did beat Every Single Challenge (After ALOT of resets) that Ultra moon had so it take that as a somewhat positive after dealing with this saddening (but well made) video 😶🌫️🥲😡🥶
Here is the thing, I personally think Castform is alright just the way it is (minus lacking a sand form)... I don't think every Pokemon needs to be strong and useful in battle... else it gives the idea that Pokemon are tools used for fighting.. And in certain cases, Castform becomes a self rigged hard mode for players who want more difficulty...
I don't care that it doesn't work competitively, I love Castform. I used one on my team the very first time I played Gen 3, obviously wasn't the strongest thing, but I still found it fun. Still have that Castform, too.
Give Castform a update on when it change forms it gains new abilities along with forecast. Sun form would gain solar power, rain form would gain hydration, and hail form would gain icy body or snow cloak.
i wouldn't really say it's a jack of all trades, since the saying is "jack of all trades, master of none is still better than a master of one" but most pokemon outdo castform in almost everything :(
I don't know if anyone thought of this but it would be cool if they buffed Forecast to where when Castform gets sent out on the field, if it has sunny day or rain dance, ECT in it's move pool, it could immediately set up the weather of your choice; like dittos imposter ability but with the weather instead. It's not too crazy but it could give it more of a niche and some semblance of reliability

People seriously underestimate the power of Trick Room. It helps a myriad of different Pokémon shine in battle who have amazing potential but are held back by terrible speed. If you wanted Druddigon to work in competitive play, I consider looking into Trick Room.
I like how it's shiny version kinda looks like it has mistletoes as wings

Castform has also received a buff all round to its base stats.
yes gamefreak should, gamefreak was just tossing castform from one director to another.
Radical Red does that with the rocks instead
Pokemon Rejuvenation does something interesting with a system called crests (held items that help different pokemon). There is a Castform crest that assists it pretty well imo!

Greatly boost all its stats(except attack) would be helpful, make it work for all weather and/or get a boost in weather.

Perfectly balanced.

Better question: How come it never got a Fog form because Weather Ball gets its attack boost in Fog but stays normal
what type would fog be?
Fast Special sweeper, wall, tanky Special attacker, speedy support mon . . .
I agree, Castform needs a very powerful evolution, so much so that I drew one I called Weathform
I think that's a case of being held back by limitations. Like you said when tms became unbreakable he got way better
What ROMHack was that?
@@Acequatch Pokémon Sigma Emerald
It was rom hack that made it good not that it was
@@mydogghost All the Rom Hack did was give it its Gen 7 moveset and made TMs not break. It didn't change anything other than that.
Rock, not Ground. Sandstorms are much more about Rock, from the setting move being Rock type to the added special bulk on Rock types.
That way it would be super cool as a weather changer and ability, as well as not being as squishy.
my castform buff idea:
+70 base sp.atk
give it a sandstorm form
no other changes
Actually, even without the stat boost, this would really improve Castform. It would allow it more move slots, and more coverage, while retaining it's gimmick.
Castform, being a manmade Pokemon, should have gotten an evolution. What I don't like Pokemon doing is creating all these new evolution items and not using them for older Pokemon.
That is so true. They should have made it powerful like the man-made pokemons, Genesect and Mewtwo (and other poweful mythics/legendaries)
@@jeavoirichards9379 or just porygon
@@mikemiller8430 exactly

- Rainy form: 70-50-90-70-90-50 (defensive strategy with thunder and hurricane)

And as bonus:
- Sand form: 70-50-90-50-70-90 (slightly faster defensive strategy with sand tomb).
FSG has top tier content. They way they go so in depth over every generation’s meta-game is incredible
1:53 - Castform doesn't have a sandstorm form because it is based on precipitation (Water, Ice) or the severe lack of precipitation (Sun Form).

Sun = evaporation
Normal=condensation
Rain and hail=precipitation
I'm pretty sure castforms forms are based on the water cycle, the water being precipitation, the hail being if/when the water freezes in the clouds (?), And the sun being evaporation.
The reason why there isn't and will never be a sandstorm form is that as said before, sandstorm isn't part of the water cycle. The reason the sun form exists is because the sun evaporates water.

shuuuuush, you say dirty water is not water?
Sandstorm isn’t water
How about muddy water form, like ground water type? Or a poison form mixed with water
I think it doesn’t have a sandstorm form cause a sandstorm isn’t technically a “real” weather condition. It’s just sand being blown about by the wind.
The reason for the sun form and lack of sandstorm form is because sun relates to evaporation.
Imagine when false swipe was making the video, wolfey vcg won a tournament of ubers with a castform lmao
