thanks! most of the time i just tie straight to the braid when fishing artificial if i fish with any live or cut bait ill put a mono leader on with a barrel swivel maybe 2 ft or so.
you can keep 3 between 23-26 inches. one can be longer than 26. you can only keep them from Oct 1 - June 15 though. i usually dont keep but a few throughout the season.

you just have to go at the right time most of the time im fishing out of a boat but a lot of times they aren't very far from the bank.
