I've got 5 May 1980 for an airdate on this one; Bruce Mansfield here presents the 1971 western comedy "Romance of a Horse Thief", which aired on ATV-10 at 12 noon that day.
Oh alot brands that hit the memory nerve like a ton of bricks here! Alot of these brands still lasted up to maybe 1987/88 then disappeared. I really believe that biscuits hit their zen by the 80's timeline and have deceased way afterwards....Alot of happy memories.
I remember some kind of biscuit that had sultanas on top them that was coated in Cadbury chocolate. I would always eat the sultanas top off them sigh 🫠
Ha ha, memories. I am looking for a particular commercial, that I can't find. The one where 4 cuppa chinos are ordered and the shop keeper refuses the customers with "the machines on the blink". Surely someone has it somewhere?
Palmolive - Jobyna Bearde as Australia's own Madge. Eventually, Palmolive decided to use the American Madge (played by Jan Miner) worldwide. Jobyna's brother, Chris Bearde, created, wrote, and produced TV shows in Canada at the CBC, before moving to the USA, where he wrote for "Laugh In", and created & produced variety shows including "The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour", "The Hudson Brothers Show", and "The Ray Stephens Show"; and the sitcom "That's My Mama". He also created "The Gong Show".
This is great & the quality of the recording from 44 years ago is outstanding!

Ah...but you could buy a pair of brand name jeans for about $15 in 1980 - $5 was a lot.
I was 10 in 1980
Memories.... Skinny Milk, Palmolive, Papa G, Daffodil

The Eyewitness News title and theme tune was imported from the USA, where it was used by many stations.
8:12 - Rebecca Gilling was so beautiful then - and even in subsequent years - I remember this commercial very well - it was so catchy
